Here is the quilt that I made to use during our Dec. trip. I made this before I learned to applique or I would have appliqued some Mickey heads on it.

Hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend.

What a great idea! Hmm...We're planning another trip in February. I may need to make a blanket for the stroller. (A quilt is way over my skill level.)

I scored some Minnie dot fabric at Waldemart this week, and this is what I turned it into. Rebecca loves her twirl skirt, so I used the YCMT triple ruffle halter dress pattern, and changed the skirt to something more like the twirl skirt she loves. Is this officially a frankenpattern? (LOL, love that phrase!) We're off to the MK tomorrow...Labor Day is usually pretty quiet, so we've made kind of a tradition of going there the past few years.

DD and I spied this type dress on Voldemort and she said, THAT'S the one I want! " It had black capris with a black dot ruffle. I can only hope that mine comes out half as cute as yours!

I like all of your outfit, but I especially like the Nemo skirts. Great outfits!

These came out really cute and the best part is that you can really see that she loves them!

I am so excited to finally be able to share and not just lurk LOL :)

I'm so glad that you shared too. The dress is super cute. I really like the alpha fabric.

This is my DD's favorite (Snow White spinny). I made it for her awhile ago she wears it as often as she can :)

Photo was taken yesterday at MK.

Finished more creations today :goodvibes A real 'outfit' actually, a top and shorts. I know you are all so impressed :rotfl: I need to jazz them up a bit I think. Maybe add some pink to the top or a ruffle on the shorts. Dont know......The fabric has Pooh on it and it is SO cute!

Okay, so no dress today. hopefully tomorrow I will get to attach the ruffle to the skirt and the skirt to the bodice and post a pic. WOW aimeeg that belle outfit is darling.. someday I will advance past novice sewer and finish a stripwork dress in a reasonable amount of time (once I've locked my kids and husband out of the house.) and I will attempt something as beautiful as that. Hopefully all this beginner sewing will make me a pro by the time she'll actually care. Though, last night I was told she won't wear stuff I make for her much longer...SHE'S 2 FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD!!!

Love the outfit! And the party looked really fun too ;)
Tink 561,

I added the LE toys pic to my previous post.

Here is my DD at Chef Mickeys in her minnie dot spinny skirt.

She looks so cute and such a pretty smile!

Fortunately, someone got a good pic of dd in her Cinderella dress at the party Saturday. The headband & necklace stayed on for aout 2 minutes, but we did finally convince her to wear the dress. Royalty is sooooo tempermental! ;)

Teresa, for the topsy-turvy doll, I found a pattern for a doll about the right size & cut it on the fold just above the legs. I kind of made up the clothes as I went along.
The pout is killing me :rotfl:

Yeah! We are done with our outfits. I may try to make some bows or headbands this week before we leave and mom might make my older dd a shirt to match her skirt.

I had posted pics of the mickey mouse, nemo and ariel outfits, but today we did a Fashion Show for daddy and I had to get pics with dd actually in them. I am so glad they are done!

Great job on everything! Bet it feels so good to be done.

Though, last night I was told she won't wear stuff I make for her much longer...SHE'S 2 FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD!!!
...t.

Gimme a break. She'll be so used to wearing what you make, and actually be proud of it. They realize its a big deal when they can say "My mommy made it!" Sure it won't be all the frilly fun stuff you're making now, but you'll both 'age' together. Then you're really in trouble, she'll start planning your sewing projects for you! Rebecca does this already, and she's 2 also...whenever the latest copy of Austrailian Smocking comes out, she picks out stuff for me to do. :)

FWIW...my older girls always wore smocked or heirloom dresses to church far beyond what some of their Sunday School classmates did...until vanity got the best of their friends when my girls were getting all the attention over their pretty dresses. All of a sudden they started wearing their dressy things again too. LOL.

Okay, finally here is Belle. I am off to fix the skirt now.

Aimee, Aimee, Aimee!!! That is GORGEOUS!!!! WOW!! I can't wait to see it all done!!!

Cute outfit, and it looks like a really fun party? Is that a bowling alley with rides?? It looks like lots of fun!

We LOVE Chef Mickey's! I sooo want to go back NOW!!! Your daughter looks so beautiful!!!

mini creation. DD loves this outfit and it was SOOOO easy!!!

Cute! I have that pumpkin fabric waiting for some inspiration so strike to make it into a Cinderella outfit!

Your daughter looks adorable!!! And thanks for the tip about the doll! I am going to have to try that!

Labor Day was very quiet...longest line we were in was for Dumbo, and that was 10 minutes. Everything else was pretty much a walk on, and we didn't need to FP anything. MK closed at 7 for Pirates and Princess, and there were still tix left for that, they were selling that all day. We didn't do any ADR's, but still managed to get into the CP for an early dinner...they said they were totally booked, but to check back when we were ready to eat because they already had a record # of cancellations/no-shows. This was the first Character dinner we've done in a while, and were totally thrilled because Rebecca wasn't afraid of the characters!

I'm really pleased with how the dress turned out too. She got lots of compliments today and loved the attention. The highlight of the day was when she was given 2 Tinkerbell pins by (I'm guessing) the Dream Squad. We were sitting in a shady spot at the exit to Splash eating frozen lemonade when a security guard walked up to us and started talking. He asked if she was spoiled, we laughed and said yes, of course. He asked if he could spoil her too, and gave her the pins, one to keep and one to share. What a great surprise!

It sounds like you had lots of fun! I am so jelous! On Sprint the other day, I could have got round trip tickets to Orlando for $28!!!! Do you know how tempting that was???? But, school starts tomorrow, so there was no way we could do that. :sad2:

Here is the quilt that I made to use during our Dec. trip. I made this before I learned to applique or I would have appliqued some Mickey heads on it.

Your daughters look so cute!!! I love seeing the outfits on them. I have that green Nemo fabric. I have to do something with it. Lydia wants a dress for the Nemo ride, so I'll have to make it by May!

Adorable!!!

I am trying to decide if I "need" to go to JoAnn today or if I "need" to stay home and keep my $$$$ in my checking acct. I have a sick kid so I'd be leaving dh and dd's at home and going all on my own. I need to sit and think about what I would actually be looking for. Who am I kidding???? I will most likely be going!

I am going to officially book my ESPN weekend trip tomorrow! I have some pretty cute ideas for an ESPN outfit for dd(will be 6 in march) and a top for dd(will be 10). What type of clothes do you experts suggest for March. I have only ever been in June and Sept/Oct when you wear as little as possible, so I am not sure if I need to dress a little warmer or not. I don't usually put anybody in jeans or capris, is March jeans weather or shorts weather?????

We were there this year for THE weekend (it's SO fun!) and one day we were in long sleeves and the next shorts and t-shirts. It's hard to tell with Florida what it's going to be. I agree with someone else that answered you - LAYERS! :)

What a great idea! Hmm...We're planning another trip in February. I may need to make a blanket for the stroller. (A quilt is way over my skill level.)

What about a rag quilt? SUPER easy and looks like a million bucks!

LOVE LOVE LOVE everyone's outfits - I just got done with about 20 pgs... thanks to all for the inspiration!

I bet she loved doing her fashion show!! What a cupcake!! Have a wonderful trip and I hope you are very proud of all your hard work. I think your DD looks like she is ready for fun!!!

I have to say I am a little bummed with the pictures. It is better in person. I still need to make the cape and the petticoat. The dress is full but I want it to be really really full. I love the rose bows. I put them on pin backs so I can take them off. I also bought a matching big rose.

Any ideas on how to pack this velvet monster!:rotfl:

I am so glad I finished and now I get to sew cotton!!!!

I forgot this picture. After everyone gave me a lot of really great clip art. I posted a request for a picture of the real Belle.

This is BradK's photo. He is a really great photographer and it was really nice for him to share.

That is JUST AMAZING!!! You are terrifically talented!! (Sorry about my spelling, I had to reinstall Windows, and my spellcheck is gone now!) I can't wait to see Hannah in it!!

Lydia LOVES it to! She is up late, because I didn't want her keeping Arminda awake. The first day of school is tomorrow. :sad1: :sad1: :sad1: But, at least we live in Michigan, where school starts AFTER Labor Day!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

All I can say is WOW!!!!

That dress is stunning!!!

Great job! Beautiful! Love It!!!

Wow Aimee! That is STUNNING! Great job!

We looked at some bridal and fashion fabric today (satin, velvet, organza, velour, chiffon) I was too afraid to purchase it. :scared1:
DW thought that I could make DD a princess dress that was less itchy than the purchased ones.
I am just too afraid of slippery fabric and fabric with a nap. I am sure that I would construct it all going this way, and that way, and upside down, and right side up, that it would just be a big expensive mess in the trash can.
I told her that I might try after our trip, but her list is already long enough!:rotfl:

First off- Thanks so much to everyone. All of your wonderful compliments have really warmed my heart!:cutie: :cutie: :cutie: I got all emotional in the middle of the night when I was sewing. I started to think my DD is three and all she will see is a pretty dress to dance in but in 20 years when she looks back at the photos from our trip hopefully she will see all the love. I simply made this for her because I just love her to pieces!

Tom-

Satin is scary! :scared1: :scared1: It frays really easily. I made some doll clothes and it was a big expensive mess. I do not think I could have done this without the serger. Serging the seems makes life so much easier. Also, I am not super worried about her wearing the dress because I know it can be cleaned. (Just not by me.)

Do any of the pro's have any good tips for satin/costume sewing? I would love to know. I am still on the hook for Cinderella's pink dress.

Aimee it's just beautiful. You might actually need a garment bag for this one LOL.

Aimee, your Belle gown is gorgeous and I bet your DD will be the center of attention wherever she wears it.

Tom, don't get intimidated by fabric other than cotton prints. There are many special occasion fabrics that aren't that bad to work with nor terribly expensive. I made Zoe's gold gown from tissue lame' with an overlay of gold netting (kind of like tulle but heavier and is usually with the lace fabric). I think the lame' is around $4 per yard at JoAnns. It's a bit slippery but not bad, really. It does fray more easily so I zigzag stitched the edges of all pieces (that was before I had a serger). You might also look for cotton velveteen that is about the same as corduroy without the lines. About the only fabric I avoid is satin. I've always had issues getting it to work for me. I don't use expensive fabric because I sew to save money. LOL However, with a JoAnns' coupon, most fabric at the store is within reason for a special dress... plus I haunt the clearance section when those are 50% off. It's how I usually get the specialty fabric I'd never buy otherwise.
