Hi

I just returned yesterday from the Transatlantic Cruise - WOW - it was fabulous.

Yes I would highly recommend a tie and a suit - you will need it anyway for formal and semiformal night. My dh hates dressing up and the cruise is the one place his suit gets a good work out.

Palo's is very elegant and upscale IMHO and most people (not all) do wear ties, suits and dressier stuff to both brunch and dinner.

Enjoy!!!

Denise

While jackets and/or ties are recommended, not required for Palo, a dress shirt is a must. Polo shirts, even Tommy-Bahama style shirts are no-nos.

We've worn tux shirts with silk string ties and snazzy vests, that sort of thing. Dressy, but not too dressy. I think we're wearing something Chinese on the next cruise.

Heck - I'd say throw one in the suitcase - it doesn't take up much room and always looks great. :thumbsup2

I posted this many times and I'm sure ya'll are getting tired of seein' it. But here's what we wore to Palo and on Semi Formal night.

Are you sailing Thursday, the 6th, or Sunday the 9th. Interested to know since we're on the 9/6 sail--the NEXT one:banana:

Oh, throw it in. Since Palo's is more up scale, I love seeing all of the men in the ties and jackets. I love the feeling when everyone looks so nice, the mood, character and actions of everyone reflects it.

I just debarked this morning (Sunday) and was at PALO's last Thursday.

Although they prefer Ties/Jackets, it is definitely NOT a requirement. I nice Polo shirt is fine as long as it is with dress pants. I saw many individuals dresses with and without ties. I am one of those individuals who, quite simply, do not like to wear a tie as I find it constricting. Not to mention the heat and sweat.

Wear what makes you feel comfortable yet professional. To each his/her own. By the way..PALO food and experience is exceptional!

As above they prefer it and most men do, I hate ties but put one on there, I did wear a jacket to dinner and they suggested I could take it off as it was 6pm and hot.

It's funny because most of the pictures I have seen of people in Palo i would say MOST of the men in them are wearing Polo's or "tommy bahama" type shirts...

When we went for brunch, I'd say most, if not all were in polo type shirts. We didn't go for dinner, so that might be different. It was a 4 night cruise, and from what I've read, at least in the dining rooms it is much more casual than the 7 night.

That's true for the brunch and the shorter cruises. But you will see that most on the 7-day people are dressed a bit nicer at Palo. Most men had Polos on during our 3-day. But on our last 7-day most men had on a suit. I did see a few that just had dress shirts with ties. And there was one or two that had the suit and no tie. But the majority had the suit and tie. It really doesn't bother me too much what others wear. But I love seeing DH all spiffed up in a great suit. As long as you don't wear shorts, jeans, or tank tops, Palo will normally let it slide if you don't have a jacket or tie.

I am happy to hear that, because I am making my DH wear a shirt and tie, no jacket, to dinner, but he is wearing a short sleaved button down linen shirt for brunch.
