Are menus changing with free dining?

I was wondering if anyone just back noticed alot of items being dropped from the menu? I am hearing buzz that most resturants are no longer serving steak. Is this true?

Yes it is true in many but not all places. any relation to free dining is purely coincidental, Yeah right!

There's a long thread about this on the main restaurant board. The main concern there though seems to be the changes to the menus at WPC and Chefs. I don't think WPC's menu change is the DDP's fault, that restaurant is not owned by Disney, so why blame Disney? And Chefs only took off an Americanized steak, and replaced it with a French dish. Since it's a French restaurant, I don't see what the big deal is. When Le Cellier takes steak off their menu, that's when I'll start complaining.

Last year Le chefs changed their manu during free dining and there was quite an uproar. I think hyamburgers and flank steak replaced the filet and something else! We were going in late November, and I was going to cancel as I didn't want to have an expensive burger or cheap steak, but when we went the old menu was up and running!

Yeah, last year (or maybe the year before) Chef's replaced the duck with something else. Everyone was in an uproar over losing their duck. I had made that ADR specifically for the duck, so I too cancelled. Now, I hear that Chef's has brought the duck back, but removed the steak (just in time for free dining).:confused3

I think that just goes to show that the changes at Chefs, both last year and this year, had little to do with free dining, and were just normal, routine menu changes, which should be expected.

It was two years ago. Of course now a bunch of people are complaining that the steak has been replaced with the duck, and of course, it must be the DDP's fault.

ITA! And I'd get completely bored with a restaurant sooner or later that never changes it's menu.

I am here now and we had our first TS at Kona. When we asked to order the filet we were told that they ran out. Our TS time was 5:30. So, by 5:30 on a Monday night they ran our of the filet which was clearly printed on the menu. Are you Kidding me!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Did anyone else around you have filet and you were being denied? Or do you think it's actually possible something happened and they 'ran out' - either the supply didn't arrive, or there was something wrong with the meat, or any one of dozens of other reasons that it wasn't available? Now, if they'd given you menus without the filet on them, THEN I'd worry. But since that entree remains on the menu, I'm sure they still offer it - they just couldn't provide it at 5:30 PM on that particular Monday.

I wouldn't worry about it. There are lots of reasons a restaurant could run out of an item. Trust me, I used to be a cook, and we'd run out of items once in awhile. I'm sure the DDP and the filet running out didn't have anything to do with one another. They probably didn't get an order in or something.
