Just returned from a splt stay at Beach Club/Grand Floridian. Loved the Beach Club!!! (we were AKL refugees!!) Upgraded to a water view(we paid for standard at AKL) with full balcony, and our room was ready at 11am!!!! The water view overlooked the quiet pool. GF another story, we had to wait until about 4pm to get into our room. Terrible view overlooked the GF convention center and dumpsters:( Also, the noise from trucks with the backup beeps early in the morning stunk!!! After I complained they moved us to the newly redone Conch Key!!!! Much better room, flat screen tv, view of marina and no beeping trucks!!! Great pools at both resorts!!! Any questions???

Thanks for the report!

Since you saw the new GF rooms, how were the bathrooms? Sometimes the WDW deluxe resort bathrooms have mildew and water problems...did they update the bathrooms i.e. grout, wallpaper, etc.?

How did splitting your stay work out for you? Would you do it again?

The Conch Key new room I saw was spotless and yes they did all new wallpaper.

YFI: when you get a room at 11am that means the room was empty when you arrived, since check out is 11am that room was very likely not occupied the night before. It is nice when that happens but it depends on how booked the resort is.

If you have to wait for a room, that means full occupany and yes check is after 3pm so usually it does mean a later check in. Which is also why you probably got the room less desired. I know which room you are talking about and yes the delivery trucks are a bother. Every resort has those rooms, sorry to say.

Glad the GF was able to move you and that you asked, so many don't and simply suffer and then complain later when it is too late to try to fix it. I love the Conch Key marina view.

Did you consider the BC water view to be worth it? Its an extra $500 for our trip but I doubt if I would pay that for a view of a pool. But then again don't want to get a dump truck view either.

For those that asked the split stay was no problem. I had a late breakfast at BC then headed over to the GF. The rest of my party headed over to the parks. I checked out the gift shops then relaxed by the pool.
The bathrooms at the GF were very nice. In both rooms there were no signs of mold or mildew. We had great mousekeeping at both and received towel animals every day at BC!!!! Loved the turndown service at GF!!! Nice touch!!
Yes, I am glad I complained about the view and noise at Sago, for the price of the rooms at GF I think you deserve a nice view(gardes, trees are nice dumpsters and noisy trucks are not). The room and view at Conch was great. Short walk to each pool and to the main building.
Both were great resorts!!!

I am glad you loved Beach Club.
Sorry, your check in at GF did not go so well.
Did you see any movies by the pool?
I think BC & YC is now showing movies at night by the pool like All Star Music is.
BC & YC are taking part of a new pilot program along with All Star Music.
One of the goals of this pilot program is to have clean rooms ready for the guests upon check in.
I was told that several managers were transferred from other Disney resorts to help get this pilot program up and running.
I was also told that they try to "sense " (maybe anticipate?) when guests will be arriving so that check in is quick and that clean rooms are ready at check in for the majority of guests.

After reading about the pilot program on several threads I decided to call All Star Music and ask about the new pilot program. I was informed it will only last through September but if All Star Music and YC&BC (which also has a similar program ) get enough positive feedback they may expand this program to all of the resorts! Yeah. (So anyone is going to All Star Music or BC & YC please fill out the pilot survey which is at the front desk. Please be honest but please fill them out.)

I was told they are getting the results from those surveys the next morning and actions are immediately being taken to correct problems or congratulate succeses.

I spend a lot of time on the resorts board reading and posting and I have read a lot of positive posts from guests who have stayed there since the pilot program in June. Besides the games and movies many have stated how clean the grounds are , how many CM's they see around the grounds, and how friendly the staff is.
I first read the pilot program at the moseplanet website in June of this year.

From this website:

As we noted on last week's MousePlanetWatch news podcast, We've gotten a couple of reports about the "something special" that we were told to keep our eyes out for at All-Star Music and Yacht & Beach Club. At All-Star Music, we've heard that folks have found karaoke sessions for dance parties near the pools, a nightly movie by the Calypso pool and in increase of staff to make it easier for guests to find assistance. ......

----------------------------------------------------

There will also be CM's in the parks which will ask guests to fill out surveys. They are usually in the parks from about 8-10 A.M. and try to interview about 30 guests a day who will take the time to answer the surveys.

I agree it really is more pleasant to have your room ready at check in than to have to wait until wait late afternoon. I hope the new pilot program is continied and that it expanded to other resorts.

If anyone wishes to contact Disney the addresses are:

Walt Disney World Guest Communications

Let's let Disney know we like this new program and we want it to continue and expand to the other resorts as well!

Thanks ........And......
Have fun at Disney!

Which building and what room number had this horrible view at GF? We are going in November and it would be just my luck to get this view.

I have read this before, and I requested Sago Cay! I asked for marina view, tho...however, I am considering calling to cancel my requests and just be surprised at what I get!
