Best way to get water bottles to POR?

I'm checking into POR with my 4 youngest kids (aged 5-10) on 9/2 for 14 nites of FREE dining!

We won't have a car though, and I want to stock the room with tons of water bottles to take to the parks with us throughout the trip.

What's the best way to do this, as in easiest and/or most economical? Take a cab to Goodings? Order online somewhere? DH can't go this time, so I can't leave them alone to go on a trek for H20.

I've seen something about ordering from Staples--do they still do this?

Get refillable bottles and use the tap water or at least buy large jugs of water rather than the individual bottles - way too much added trash (let alone the chemicals used to manufacture all those plastic bottles). I don't think Staples delivers anymore. You might try Garden Grocer.

Staples does deliver. Even with the Staples card, delivery is free only on orders $50 or more.
Three solutions:
1 - order $50 of water (it's about $6 a case, with my apologies in advance to SharonLowe)
2 - order as much water as "tons" means to you, and make up the difference with office supplies - many posters order toner cartridges
3 - order "tons" of water and pay the $7.50 shipping charge. It's STILL a lot cheaper than $2 or more dollars a bottle at Disney World.

I just placed my order with garden grocer last night. I ordered water, some fresh fruit and a couple of quick breakfast items for my kids 4 and 7. We aren't big breakfast people and I would rather save the snack and cs credits for later. Thier prices were not bad and now I don't have to give it another thought!!

Go to gardengrocer and shop online. They will deliver for $12 and you do't have to be there when they deliver. They will leave it with the front desk - which will deliver it to your room

Nice to meet a "neighbor"! We are flying out of O'Hare; I got tix on Northwest for $137r/t. We usually drive because we're a large family, but flying is cheaper at this price!

Will you be staying at POR too? What are your dates--maybe we'll run into you!

Are you doing ME from MCO?
I pass on the "free" ME bus and get a car service to pick us up at the airport. For about $100 round trip, they carry and load your luggage, drive directly to your hotel and offer a 30 minute grocery stop on the way! You have offset your savings on groceries by paying for the service, but, as I read your post - yourself and 4 children 10 and under - it may be worth it. Instead of paying $2 a bottle for water you can get your water and some snack food and breakfast food (POR has small fridge), and use that money for the Limo. I have heard stories of touring every Disney resort before arriving at yours and waiting hours for luggage to get to your room with the Magic Express!

We are CBR people. We love that resort!! We will be there from Sept. 8 until the 14th. We are flying airtran out of Moline at $158 rt. I wouldn't want to deal with Chacago plus I only live 10 minutes from the airport and since it is not as busy I can show up about 45 min. before my flight and have no problems. I wish you a safe flight and lots of magical moments!!

While stories may have been heard of ‘touring every Disney resort’ and ‘waiting hours for your luggage’ with DME, they are scarce and possibly due to misperceptions.

Except for Guests arriving late at night, when few flights arrive and therefore fewer Guests need transportation, DME buses go to three or four Disney resorts, period. Generally the stops are based on distance from the airport (i.e. Pop Century would likely be the first stop on a bus with Guests going there), but sometimes it depends where the bus needs to be when it’s empty (e.g. if there are fifty Guests leaving Pop at a certain time, that might be the last stop on a given run). But there’s no ‘touring every Disney resort’. That USED to happen, with Mears.

All the documentation for Magical Express informs Guests that their luggage may take up to three hours to get to their rooms after they check in. Now, granted, it might be more sensible for Disney to change ‘three’ to ‘several’, but most complaints in this area are from Guests who do not understand the basic procedure. Many complaints come from Guests who think their luggage will be in their rooms when they get to the room. This can easily happen if the Guest checks in early and goes swimming, or to a park, or stops for a meal. But a Guest who checks in and goes immediately to a ready room should NOT reasonably expect the luggage to already be there.

The average time for DME users from getting off the plane to getting off the bus at their resort is 70 minutes. This includes getting from the gate to the tram to the main terminal to the Welcome Center. Really, a town car can’t be any faster – you need to stop for your luggage – and costs $100 or so more.

And, for the record, I can’t see where anybody has suggested the OP spend $2 for a bottle of water. We’ve offered several less expensive alternatives to that.

We just ordered our water through Costco.com yesterday. It should be there when we arrive on Thursday. When ordering through Costco, there are no delivery fees if you are a Costco member.

This is my first time ordering through them so will let you know how everything went when we return.

I do appreciate all of the great suggestions! I have used a towncar service in the past (when flying into Sanford), but I'm trying to really watch the budget this trip, so I will just stick to the "free" DME, even if it takes longer. We are actually flying in late the night before, and I got the airport Hyatt on Hotwire for a great price. So we will just crash there and get up early the next morning to take DME to POR.

I'm not a Costco member, so I'll probably use gardengrocer so I can also order some laundry detergent--I hate paying, what is it now, $2.00? for a single use box of laundry soap. Since we'll be there for 2 wks, I'll be doing several loads.

I normally don't buy water bottles at home, and recycle them when we do. I always write our 1st initial on the bottle cap so we know whose is whose, and I do refill them with tap water and re-use. It's just so much harder to keep track of all this while park touring, so we will probably go thru alot of bottles. I'm figuring at least one bottle per day per person, and try to refill when we can.

Erin, I don't blame you for flying out of Moline, esp. when you live right there--so convenient! I wish we lived closer to a "real" airport. (Dubuque doesn't count. ) DH will be driving us into O'Hare and picking us up, so we won't have to worry about paying for long term parking. It's about a 3 hr drive to O'Hare, but he doesn't mind too much.

Last few trips I have used ME with either grocery delivery from wegoshop or just water shipped from staples. If your staying two weeks and need items other than the water I would use a grocery delivery service. Like I said we used wegoshop but I have read nothing but great reviews of garden grocer and goodings as well. Prior to this we always used a towncar and I honestly prefer the ME.

If you just need the water then staples is the way to go, even if you have to pay shipping. The one trip we were on the dining plan I just had the water delivered.

FWIW I can not stand the taste of florida water even with a filter in fact I don't even like the soda from the fountans so bottled water and soda is my preference at Disney. At home we drink tap and don't use the small bottles as well as recycle

Don't worry about ME, we have used it 4x now and it has been excellent each time. Last trip we landed at MCO at 9:15am and were checked into POFQ and on our way to the pool at 10:30am. After lunch, around 2ish we called and our room was ready, waiting in the room waiting was our luggage and water delivery from staples.
