Should we choose CR or WL??

I just realized that I can keep my standard view room at the WL or for $120 more stay in the standard garden (i.e. parking lot view ) at the Contemporary. However, that being said, I realize that there is always some chance that a code will be released that will make the WL an even better deal than just $120/less (and my TA says that codes are almost never useable for the cheapest room at the CR).

We have never stayed in a deluxe resort. I think the WL lodge and grounds are far better looking than the CR, but I LOVE the newly renovated rooms in the CR FAR better than the decor in the WL rooms. I've always wanted to stay in a monorail hotel, but it's not as though WL is all that far from MK anyway. CR will still have construction going on of the concourse/dining areas during our visit, but we aren't particularly thrilled with the food choices at the WL.

For those of you who have stayed in both resorts, which would you choose? FYI: we are only staying three nights, likely only visiting MK and Epcot, and it will be just 2 adults, no children during early May '08.

My vote would be for the Contemporary and since you said you would be there in May 2008, the only renovation going on inside would be where the Concourse Steakhouse is, since that location being turned into the new counter service location. Besides that the other renovation happening would be on the outside where the North Garden Wing use to be, however that has 100% no effect on the guests staying in the Tower or South Garden Wing. No if the renovation inside to where the Concourse Steakhouse is would bother you that much, then maybe it's better you stay at the Wilderness Lodge. Although since you said that you're only going to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, the Contemporary is a lot better when going to those parks and here is why. With the Magic Kingdom you can either walk there or take the Monorail. With Epcot you take the Monorail to the TTC and then at the TTC get on the Epcot Monorail.

We have been asking ourselves the same question.....
We have never stayed in a deluxe, and are seriously thinking of booking ( just for 2 nights before the cruise..). We've done POR and are looking for something different. We only plan on one park day ( MK) and then a day of resort FUN...and dining!
I love the WL and the layout ( We've eaten there before) but it's only for 4 people( we'd have to leave my son with my aunt for the night...) which is do- able.... but CR has a day bed AND the monorail...
Not crazy about the look of CR , or the pool.... especially with construction..
I guess we'll wait to see what ( if any) deal is released for March. Right now AAA is
$308 a night for WL and
$315 a night for CR (standard ,garden view).

I would pick the CR too. I loved this resort when we stayed, and I had avoided it for years. If you cant get a tower room it is even better. The WL transportation just didn't look appealing to me. Even though you can catch the boat to the MK, I think the rest of the transportation is by bus. You can walk to MK from the CR, and it is right on the monorail. We booked the WL and then decided to go back to CR because we loved it so much.

Tough choice for two very different resorts. There is nothing like staying at a monorail hotel. The convenience is worth a lot. Especially since you will only be visiting the two theme parks served by the monorail. I have to agree that the room decor at CR is far more appealing than rooms at WL. However, as far as overall appeal, WL offers more in the way of Disney magic in the way that you are made to feel that you are staying in a beautiful lodge somewhere in the paciffic nothwest. The grounds are impressive, and I think that Artist Point is one of the better restaurants around. If you are looking for a romantic adults only resort, I would stay with WL. If you are looking for a place to sleep with the most convenient transportation to MK and EPCOT, I would go with CR.

We have stayed at both and we would suggest the WL. Just can't beat the relaxed feel of the place. WL takes you away from the hustle & bustle of the parks and just soothes you.

We prefer WL for its theming, nicer pool, nicer grounds, geyser, lobby, among probably 100 other reasons.

Being on the monorail isn't a big deal to us. We've stayed at the Poly a couple of times, and we preferred the boat transportation to the monorail. On the trip back from MK, boats are usually faster than the monorail anyway.

WL boats aren't lightning quick, and you may have to stop at FW, but it's a very nice ride, and is quicker to MK than taking a bus is to any other park from WL.

I'd pick the CR. The rooms are beautiful, and the beds are super comfy. I just spent a night at the WL last week and I thought the room was dark and dreary, and the bed not too comfy. Also, the CR has Calif. Grill, which is my favorite restaurant!!
