Walkway between WL and Contemporary?

We have ADR's at the Whispering Canyon Cafe at 6:30 pm and Reservations for a Grand Gathering Fireworks Cruise leaving from the Contemporary with a check in time of 7:45. I'm worried that this will be cutting it close depending on how busy the resturant is. I know that we can boat over to the Contemporary....but was wondering if there is a walkway over there if we don't have time to wait for a boat?

Unfortunately the quickest way is by boat. The Contemporary and WL sit on opposite sides of the lagoon with no walkway.

Unless you want to swim:rotfl: (which is prohibited anyway), you have to take the boat.

OR unless you are very holy and can walk on water. ;)

Oh and just to add....I'm am sure there is no way that you will make it to Contemporary at 7:45 if you have an ADR at WCC at 6:30.

You at least need a good hour or even an hour and a half to eat. Then the time it would take to catch the boat to the Contemporary.

If I were you, I would try to make your ADR time a little earlier.

It would then give you enough cushion time in the event that the boat isn't there when you get to the dock (which usually it isn't) and if it isn't at the dock, you have to have time to wait for it to arrive (which could also take awhile).

Good luck! :thumbsup2

So far that ADR is the earliest I could get...but will keep trying. What are the chances of getting a table sooner if we arrived say at 6:00?

Also, keep in mind that your ADR doesn't guarantee immediate seating, especially at that time of the evening. You could end up waiting 20-30 minutes if the restaurant is really busy, which would push back your dinner even more.

There's kind of a puddle in the middle :)

Could you possibly eat after the cruise ?

We ate dinner last Sunday at Whispering Canyon. They seat everyone at 4:50, so you can always be there before then and probably get seated immediately. (We did not have ADRs and this is what she suggested). We were not ready to eat that early so I sent DH down from our room at say 5:15 and we were seated in less than a half an hour (party of 4).

As for the boat... when leaving the WL it first goes to the campgrounds before the Contemporary- so it takes a little bit of time- say 25 minutes maybe. We did it but I don't really remember!

We loved the Whispering Canyon- we decided to eat there once we arrived at the WL and I personally liked it second only to the LeCellier in what I ate!

Do they have to pick you up at the Contemporary or can they pick you up at WL dock? When we go fishing on Bay lake they give us a choice of where we want to be picked up. If you can catch it at the lodge, I would make sure which dock they will pick you up at, ours was the one on the south side where you rent boats and such.

I would suggest that you arrive early for your ADR @ WCC and notify them when you check-in (also let your server know) that you have the cruise scheduled for later that night. You will need to catch one of the Blue Flag Resort Boats. To arrive at the CR in time you should probably be at the boat dock at Wilderness Lodge at the latest 7:20pm.

The Blue Flag Resort Boats Run continuously between the three resorts (Wilderness Lodge, Contemporary Resort and Ft. Wilderness Campground) there are at lest two of these smaller boats that run two routes one clockwise around Bay Lake the other counterclockwise. Always check with the boat Captian as to which resort the boat will be headed for next, this will save you some time by not riding to say Ft. Wilderness if you want the Contemporary.

The smaller Blue Flag Resort Boat holds appx 30 guest are open to the elements and require a guest to transfer from wheelchairs to the boat with a step down. (strollers also need to be folded)

Blue Flag Resort Boats hours of operation are 7:00am till 10:00pm

My advice would be to re-schedule you're ADR at Whispering Canynon if it's possible because like fla4fun said just because you are set for a 6:30 PM ADR, does not mean you would be seated right away. Even if you were seated right at 6:30 PM or a few minutes before there would not be enough time to eat and to enjoy you're food, since you would need to be at the boat dock for 7:20 PM if you wanted to get on the boat for the Contemporary so you can make the cruise for 7:45 PM.

The time to get to the CR will be the same either way, the only difference is between waiting on the dock or riding in the boat. When timed properly the boats meet up at CR.

It's a 5 minute cab ride, which will be much quicker than the boat. As long as you are seated on time, simply tell your server that you are in a bit of a hurry. You should have to trouble making it, though you will be a bit rushed.

Why don't you see if the boat can meet you at Wilderness lodge:rolleyes1 , we have a wishes cruise and will be picked up there. Call the reservation and find out

I don't think that schedule is do - able. You will be too rushed. Most times you do have to wait for a table even with an ADR. Best case, you are only talking about 45 minutes for dinner. It usually takes 60 - 90 minutes for a TS dinner, especially if they are busy.
If you cannot reschedule for an earlier time, I would decide which of these 2 I most want and cancel the other.

Hi:

Have you considered eating at the Contemporary... I think it may save you alot of time by already being there...

Have a great trip,

Mark

Sorry, but the information you gave on the Blue Flag Route is outdated and incorrect. The Blue Flag Motor Launches run from 0645 to 2330.

From 0645 to 1500, the 2 Blue Flag Motor Launches run clockwise and then run counter-clockwise after 1500 until 2330. The Blue Flag Launch route in Bay Lake ceases operation promptly at 2330.

Each launch holds a maximum of 39 guests. All guests must be seated while boat is underway. Strollers and wheel chairs must be folded prior to boarding. Motor launches cannot and will not accommodate ECVs under any circumstances.

As the crow flies, it's really not that far; it's about the same distance as from the front of MK to the back. But there are no sidewalks or trails in between, and I don't recommend walking along World Drive any time of the day or night (VERY dangerous!).

If you can get a cab, it would only be a 3-5 minute trip, so cabfare wouldn't be much.

However, your best bet is to simply reschedule the ADR. You will simply not have enough time to get through a meal at WCC by 7:45, much less get to Contemporary in time for your departure. I never get seated for my ADRs on time, and at a restaurant like WCC you just can't get through a meal in one hour.

You just won't make it. You're going to have to reschedule your WCC meal; I recommend making an ADR at one of the Contemporary restaurants for that night, and make the ADR no later than 6pm.

Is that just the Blue craft that run between WL & CR, or does that also apply for the ones that do the WL to MK route? Additionally, as I will be staying at WL and have a 7am ADR at Chef Mickey's and will be using an ECV, do I have any alternatives other than a cab ride from WL to CR?
