Just Returned From The Swan

Another wonderful stay at the Swan! I didn't have one complaint. Room was perfect and so was housekeeping. No matter what different times we came back to our room it was always cleaned. We had turn down service every night which I also love. I also loved the new toiletries this year, Bath and Body Works!

Crowds were the usual for August, pretty crowded. But our second week it was lighter since school started. It was hot, hot, hot. Not one drop of rain during our stay which is unusual for August. I think we had one 10 or 15 minute shower during our first week but that was about it. We had some wonderful winds due to Hurricane Dean which was a blessing. Made doing the parks at night seem like indian summer!

What even made it more magical was on our last day we were chosen by a cast member at MK and we received a Dreampass. What a way to end our vacation! I didn't use mine and am keeping it as a souvenier which I already put in the frame which was being offered at the shops for $5.00.

Needless to say I'm already depressed:guilty:

So now the planning begins for the next trip.:surfweb:

Sounds like you had a wonderful stay! I always tell hubby when we get to at Orlando Airport for our return trip home ....now back to reality! But, as you state, you can start planning for the next stay...that keeps us going :thumbsup2 We are checking in next week at the Dolphin, I don't recall turn down service, is this a norm? Just curious! Thanks

I've had it during all of our stays so to me I assume so. Before they ended club level it was what I had but there is no club level anymore and I'm still getting it.

Glad you had a nice stay!

Couple questions for you....

Also about turndown....When we were there in May I had to call housekeeping and request it. I did that as soon as we were shown to our room because I thought now that there is no club level, turndown is done by request only. THey only did it sporadically  I always enjoy turndown service so returning to the room w/out it being done was a bit of a letdown. So, you didn't even have to call and put in the request and it happened for you every night???:confused3

Did you notice any construction or rehabs being done to the rooms?? I was told in May that they were currently working on the Swan from top floors down and then once that is completed, they will start the Dolphin. Just curious if you had a new fresh room and what that was like, or noticed anything going on???

Thanks for the info.

I did not request the turndown and just had it every night.

The only work being done was outside on the archway between the Swan and Dolphin. They were painting the rails. That was it from what I could see.

Thanks for the update on the Swan, and so glad to hear you had another great stay. It has been a few years since we stayed there, but we will be there for two nights in Oct, before transferring over to AKV for a week. I am looking forward to the heavenly beds and trying out the new toiletries.

Were you on an upper floor?? I am just very curious because several employees (front desk, executive housekeeper, accounting dept etc) told me this work was being done - starting with the upper floors and going down - and the rooms were getting large flat screen tvs and the wallpaper was being taken down, new color scheme etc. I had a rundown room (233) in May and was kind of talked into giving the Swan another go because the rooms were going to be sooo nice etc.

Strange about our inconsistent turndown service especially if it's a standard service.

I haven't heard of anybody yet returning from a Swan stay that has been in a newly decorated room so I don't know what to believe.:confused3 May was quite a while ago, lol...seems some DIS Swan regular should have noticed something changed by now. :rolleyes1

Those beds are truly "heavenly." I slept like a baby every night and those are the only beds I've had a good night's sleep in.

I was truly pleased with the new toiletries and hope they will stay for quite a while. We all smelled great every night:woohoo:

I just can't believe it's all over:guilty: . It hasn't been 24 hours yet since we've been home and I still look at the clock and wonder where I was and at what park.

I still wish the Swan would get their own laundry room because hauling those clothes over to the Dolphin was tough:scared:

Hmmmm....maybe a VERY good mouskeeping tip. I didn't recall we got this either at the Dolphin....:confused3

If you've never received it then make sure upon your arrival that you request it because it's very nice. After a long day in the park it's nice to come back to the room with the lights on. I won't go into detail if you already know what turndown service is.

We were at the Swan from 8/6 to 8/15 and had turndown service most every night. Only nights we didn't have it was when we put the "do not disturb" sign on the door. We were surprised to get it - didn't request it. We were on the 10th floor and did hear some "construction" going on in one of the rooms near us - husband said it was "drywall screws" sounding. Didn't see anything. It was our first time at the Swan and we were very happy there.

I was on the seventh floor on the east wing which is the Epcot view and that is the highest floor on that wing and I didn't hear nor see any construction going on so if anything was happening it may be they are working from the top and going down.

As I indicated in an earlier post the only work I saw was on the outside on the arch between the Swan and Dolphin were they were repainting the rails. I felt bad for guys having to do that work in that extreme heat:scared:

The floor I was on I was told was redone a couple of years ago because the carpeting and wallpaper were new from what I saw then.

Please tell me that the oatmeal soap wasn't replaced when they changed to Bath & Body Works toiletries! I'll be back to the Swan 6 weeks from tomorrow! :)

I know it was redone just a few years ago, but they are redoing it again. Many S/D regulars (well the thread regulars) keep telling me that it was just done - meaning a couple years ago. Our room was very worn and shabby yet it was the same style that had been completed a couple years ago. They must feel the need for a rehab because they are supposedly redoing a lot (walls carpet etc) and upping the electronics.

Nancy, when we were there in May we had a variety of toiletries. I guess whatever the housekeeper had handy. Among them was the oatmeal soap. We did have a few BBW products, but also the usual S/D stuff. I bet they were in the process of switching the old stuff out.

What B&BW scents were they using? During the holidays one year we stayed at a Renaissance hotel while visiting family in Philly and they had Juniper Breeze B&BW toiletries, perfect for Christmas time!

As much as I love the oatmeal soap, I would love to have Bath & Body Works in place of it!

There was a thread just a few days ago that said they were only leaving B&BW toiletries for the business or club level/concierge clients. Maybe it's hotel wide now?

The B&BW toiletries which were given were coconut and lime scented. You got a shower gel (which was given to me only a couple of times and then never replaced--maybe they were low on them I have no idea), body lotion, shampoo and conditioner. You also got a small coconut/lime bar of soap and a larger bar of soap which was vanilla scented, I guess maybe for use for bathtub users. All those items (except the shower gel) were replaced daily.

Ah yes, I remember the soap used at the Renssaince was also Vanilla scented where everything else was Juniper Breeze.

I love B&BW's Coconut Lime Verbena, it's one of my faves! I'll see what we get in November!

I'll miss the oatmeal soap, but I have quite a stockpile in my bathroom from past stays! :rotfl: If I took one and put it in my suitcase to bring home, housekeeping would leave 3 more in it's place!
