Best Motel with Suites near DL

I am traveling with three grandchildren. In WDW I stayed at the Boardwalk Inn(bought DVC points). Is there a suite hotel in/near/close/at DL that has the same feel as the Boardwalk? Anything clean and well-maintained. I don't know where to start looking. All the trip reports I read have nothing good to say about the accomodations.

I've never been to WDW, so I can't compare the accomodations, but in Feb. we stayed at the Residence Inn Maingate. We were very, very happy with the place. Very clean rooms. Nicely landscaped property. Very helpful hotel staff. The pool area was nice, and we had a Jacuzzi right out our door, practically all to ourselves. They offer a free full breakfast in the mornings... eggs, bacon, make your own waffles, cereal, bagles, fruit. It was nice having a full kitchen too. We didn't do any cooking, but we did use it to heat up leftovers. The location is good too. It's a pretty easy walk to the park or you can take the ART. We walked a couple times, but mostly took the ART.

A friend just stayed at the Homewood Suites (a Hilton property) near the Convention Center and he just raved about the suite and complimentary hot breakfast. There was plenty of room for his family of 5 and he said he preferred it over his stay at GCH!

We're staying a couple of nights at the Doubletree Suites (also a Hilton property)- slightly closer than Homewood. The photos look nice. I can give you a review, but not until after Thanksgiving. :confused3

Desert Palms has suites, but they are a little dark (lighting wise), and don't compare to the options in WDW.

We love staying at the Hyatt Orange County. You can usually get some good rates with AAA on their suites, which are very nice in our opinion. Shuttle transportation to DLR. Not the feel of DVC, but I don't know if you'll find that without staying on DLR property?

We have stayed numerous times at the RI Maingate. Very clean, the Penthouse suite more than enough room for the 6 of us. Hot breakfast, managers special at night, free grocery shopping, 1/2 mile from the parks.
Sorry, never been to WDW though.

Jack

We stayed at the Hilton Suites last year, every room is a suite. Booked through getawaytoday.com. It was not within walking distance so we had to use the ART system. We can not say enough nice things about this place. We had a wonderful hot breakfast buffet (free) every morning, very nice, updated rooms with a down comforter. The only draw back was using the ART system which is a pain with kids and a stroller but other than that it was really nice.

Do you have photo's of the hotel?

We're at Homewood Suites Maingate. We can't say enough good things. The pool is great, especially for smaller kids. Quite large yet it has two shallow ends. Also a small 1 ft wading pool and a hot tub. All big enough that they are never too crowded. Free Breakfast and free dinner/beer/wine Mon-Thursday. The free food has saved us a bundle. We take the ART and it works so much better than driving and parking. The rooms are great with a full kitchen. We're fans for life!

We stayed at the Doubletree last year. We only stayed for one night and checked in late that night. It is a nice hotel and the beds are very comfortable and you get a warm chocolate chip cookie at check-in. When I travel for business, I always check for a Doubletree first. We will be staying at Homewood Suites in November only because of the free breakfast and the cost in rewards points is less than the Doubletree. I have never been dissappointed in a Homewood stay anywhere that I have traveled. In fact, Hilton properties as a whole are a great chain of hotels.

If you are used to the Boardwalk, you may be disappointed in the options close to the park unless you pay for DLH. Although they are fine for us, many of the closest hotels with suites are older. There is an all-suite hotel that has not been mentioned just a bit north of the convention center. Take a look at Embassy Suites. Doubletree gets good marks, but with 3 kids, I don't know if you would have enough room.
