Has anyone ever made one of these? I have a dome pan and want to shape it like Spaceship Earth (aka, the EPCOT ball). Any suggestions? My oldest DD will be 6 and wants an EPCOT themed party.

super fun! I haven't done it, but I would probably use the 3d sports ball pan to make the ball, then frost it, cover with gray fondant that has been scored in that geodesic pattern. Alternately, you can use a large star tip with some gray buttercream and cover it that way...it would still totally look like spaceship earth! :thumbsup2 good luck!

I don't have any ideas for you, but I'd love to see pictures when you are done!

Cryssi has great ideas but if you don't have the sports ball pan (it would be great) then try baking the cake in a bowl. You bake it twice (unless you have two of the same size). Make sure it is a Pyrex oven-safe bowl. The mixing bowls from the Pampered Chef are great for this. I'm not sure if you have Pampered Chef in the States so you might not understand that last bit. A diamond embosser would work well for the patterns that Cryssi suggested. I've attached a pic of my teapot cake. I think I did it in a 2 quart bowl...but I'll check the size.

Good luck,

It sounds really awesome. I don't think anyone has ever done it before but I would love to see it after you made it! :thumbsup2
