Goal
Create havens for peaceful nights and organized mornings again I really don't think this chick has kids.

treat
Room spray, drawer sachets or something way better

Declutter
- Empty dresser drawers and group like things together.
- Gather all stuffed animals, CD's, dolls, and other collectibles in piles. Sort the keepers from things to donate, store, sell, or toss.
- Clean out desk drawers: Separate junk from supplies; sort into piles by category.
- Go through magazines, books, clippings, etc. Store things you still want to read in a large covered basket

Clean
- Vacuum and clean floors, windows, drawers, shelves, light fixtures, mini blinds, curtains, walls , ceilings, and fan blades.
- Polish and oil bedroom furniture
- Strip bedding. Vacuum then flip mattress. Get rid of any stray items under bed.
- Launder mattress pads, pillow liner, blankets, bedcovers, and throw rugs.
- Wash or dryer fluff pillows (no heat cycle)
- Clean light fixtures

Maintain
- Create a treasure chest or school box for kids to store special artwork or papers.
- Use CD caddies to keep music organized.
- Refill drawers by grouping pants, shirts, etc in separate compartments.
- Limit storage in a single desk drawer for such supplies like tape, scissors, pens, pencils, and glue.
- Install a series of hooks to hold clothes and bags of toys, dolls, and collectibles.

Oh goodness.. I have 5 of these.. this will take 2 months to do it right! :)
I guess I'll get started next week when the kids are in school and can't get under foot while trying to toss out the gizzillion papers w/ one little word on it...

What a great list! I really need to get our bedroom to stop looking like the kids OTHER playroom :)

I hear you!!! DD has taken over our room. LOL

HEHE Nancy, I only have 2 bedrooms and I have already straighten up the boys room, I will wait til they go back to school and toss stuff They will never know.:rolleyes1

It will take me forever to weed through some of their junk!! I have done some of DS11's room...so that room won't take long.. now DD's room... I may need to go ahead and get a recon mission ready..because that one.. may take me hostage!! :)

If you could see my kids rooms, well, it looks like a toy bomb went off. They collect GI Joe(big & little), HALO and Lego figures. I don't have enough horizontal surface for everything, so part of each room is a "do not walk here" zone.

I can get my room done to the list, but I'm not sure about the kids' rooms.

I'll come rescue you!!!
BTW, what are you doing up so late? Isn't it past your bedtime?

YES!! My youngest took a three hour nap today and guess who gets to stay up with him. He never naps, so I figured I should leave him alone, incase he was fighting off a cold or something.

Well, believe it or not, you can now walk through three of the four bedrooms. The kids moved their halo, Lego & Star Wars collectibles to the shelves in basement, making room for the GI Joe stuff on the floor. All my scrapbook stuff from my room gots its own room in the playroom/dining room.

The only thing we didn't do was the treasure chest for school keepers. And all our clothing, except underthings, gets hung up. (which makes :laundy: a pain, I fold it to take upstairs to unfold it and hang it up. :headache: )

So I am calling this one complete for me.

PS-the fourth bedroom is the catch all for my DHs stuff, so I stay out of there)

I cleaned out the jungle... I mean DD's room last week. I need to do the baseboards, etc. still. It was a recon mission. I im'ed DH to let him know I was going in and if he hadn't heard from me in a few hours to come check on me! :lmao: DD was actually a lot more cooperative than I thought she would be- she was actually getting rid of stuff!! I was shocked. Her room looks much better.

I decided to clean out my closet... now my bedroom looks like a bomb went off. :scared:

I have 3 bedrooms done and 2 to go.. the one will be a breeze as it is
DsS16's room...and of course he has nothing here.. it's his sleep room..he'd much rather store his stuff throughout the rest of the house! BOYS!

Ok, DD's room will be complete once I get the bed linens out of the dryer! :cool1: Her room looks AMAZING!

aughhh!!!! mom used to do this to our rooms when we would spend the summer in Mexico! We would come home to rooms that didn't even look like our rooms!!

it will still look like their room, just cleaner and a little more empty. ;)

they took out the legos today that were in the loft, you would swear it's christmas here! I keep telling them if they kept their room clean then the legos could come back down but they have yet to clean it so before dinner they go back in the loft. I was just tired of I'm bored, and it's raining so legos it is.

Guess what I did today? I actually got back to work on organizing the house!

I have been working so much overtime lately (today and tomorrow are the first time I've had 2 days off in a row in over a month!) that the house has gotten seriously out of control. So much so the thought of doing anything with it just overwhelmed me. Luckily, my wonderful DH decided to clean the whole first floor from top to bottom last weekend, making me that much more inspired to go in and declutter/purge. After today, the dining room actually looks like a dining room, and not a storage center! I even went down into the cellar and purged about 3 Rubbermaid totes full of stuff. It feels great!

I hope to finish up the cellar tomorrow - just 2 more tubs to go through and then all that will be left is Christmas stuff and 2 tubs of my mom's old collectibles that I just can't get rid of. The rest of the cellar is DH's tools, etc and he keeps that pretty organized.

There may be hope for me yet!
