I'm working on a photobook of our AK pictures for DsD 14 and I have a few animals I can't identify. I'm hoping you all can help me.

The first 3 are my photos - the last two I borrowed from Mark B.

1. I want to say these are Thompson's gazelles but I can't be sure.

3. I feel like I should know this one! It's on the tip of my brain.

5. What kind of monkey is this?

Somehow I managed to write down the tricky ones like tapir, okapi, mandrill and gerenuk but I assumed I'd remember these later! No such luck.
Thanks for any help you can give me!

the only thing I found was a list of some of the animals in the park/hotel. hope this helps some.

Anikole Cattle, Bongo, Blesbok, Eland, Grant's Zebra, Greater Kudu, Impala, Reticulated Giraffe, Thomson's Gazelle, Waterbuck, and White-Bearded Wildebeest.

Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Blue Crane, East African Crowned Crane, Greater Flamingo, Marabou Stork, Ostrich, Pink-Backed Pelican, and Ruppel's Griffon Vulture.

1. Yeah, I think they are Tommies.

2. Colobus Monkey (I should know, I have a stuffed one that sleeps with me)

3. I just gotta have a Wildebeest!

4. Scimitar-horned Oryx, they are extinct in the wild :(

5. White-cheeked Gibbon. Gibbons are actually part of the ape family, they have no tails.

Hope....impressive!!!

I've spent a few days in AK :) And have a few thousand pics, so the names stick after awhile, or at least which names to google to see if the pics match.

Ok, so now I'm going to have to make a list of animals to make sure I photograph @ AK.. My DH is going to laugh at me with this mile long list of MUST DO's while on vacation!

Hope, you rock! :worship: Thank you so much! Somehow I knew if anyone would know, it would be you!

Wildebeest - of course! I knew it was a "W" but the only name that kept popping into my head was warthog. Duh!

Is that what differentiates monkeys from apes? The presence of a tail? I learn something new on the Disboards every day!

How about one more if it's not too much trouble - this was from the Maharajah Trek:

Nancy, this should help!

It's a good thing that list came up with google, because otherwise I wouldn't know. After consulting that list, I think maybe an Eld's Deer.

Interesting use of the filter, here....replace the *** in the URL field with wdw magic.com (no spaces)

Thanks to digital, what I like to do, is if you can find a sign or something, take a picture of the sign, then take a picture of the animal. I do this for places all the time, because even if I take notes, sometimes I have problems matching things up.
