Engagement Spread over entire trip?

I am humbly asking for some Disney advice.

Me and my DGF are headed to WDW in Nov. this year, and I plan to propose. My problem is picking a spot.
Currently we have tickets to MVMCP with ADR at CRT the same night (our first night in WDW) Then the next night we have reservations for Chef's Table at Victoria and Alberts.

Both seem obvious choices... but I had an idea... what if I spread the whole magical thing out through the entire trip, gradually increasing her ring, or giving her "parts" to a ring?

I am having her e-ring made by combining parts from her Grandmother's Wedding ring and my Grandmothers Wedding ring ( we are both very close to our GM ) so I will have it in time, but I think it might be fun to start with a ring pop and move up.

Thoughts... Ideas?

I'd especially like to hear from the ladies... would it mean more to get a proposal all in one shot, and spend the rest of the vacation celebrating? I suppose this is subjective...


Anything is much appreciated.

I think this depends on a lot of factors...how long has your girlfriend been waiting for you to propose? Is she a patient woman?

IMO, I (and I did have it this way) would like it better to get it at once...either location you have listed would be good...and celebrate the rest of the trip! That's just me though...my DF drove me crazy about it the first almost two full days we were there, and propose on the second night during Wishes...

I'd definitely rather have just one single proposal moment. Personally, I'd prefer the intimate, adult-only setting of Victoria's and Albert's, but if she's a fairytale-princess type of girl, CRT might be more "magical" for her.

Most women do not have a sense of humor about engagement - just do it, do it once, do it right, and do it with a REAL ring, is my opinion. And I would vote for V&A as the venue.

I'd give a thumbs up for V&A's. Give them a call, they will help you with the proposal - put the ring on a silver platter surrounded by roses, that sort of thing.

I called V&A and they told me they can do several things and are supposed to email me picture of some of the things they can have the chef make.

I agree with all the other brides. Do it all at once, do it right and do it big. Remember this is going to set the story that everyone is going to want to hear over your entire engagement. I think I must have told my engagement story at least 150 times...

Oh yea, and be prepared cause the first question people will ask is...When is the wedding?

Well to me having it all at once and then celebrating the entire time is the way to go!!!! What a thing to celebrate!!!! I would also think not a typical place to propose would even be more special. V & A is a give-in.......

Propose in the rose garden by the castle......how about the walkway outside CG overlooking Magic Kingdom? Out in a boat in front of the MK?

You see it every night your there and if you aren't the only one proposing it really takes away from your special night....We saw it happen & I thought is was terrible for both couples....

I thought I had my mind made up. V&A sent me some picts of what they typically offer, and the chocolate rose looked really nice.

Personally, my fiance proposed to me near Sunset Pointe at the Polynesian while we were watching Wishes. I thought we were there for the Luau, but after he proposed he told me we were going to V&A's for dinner. Great night.

The thing is if the OP does planning with V&A that is just terrific but the night we saw it the other DBF brought the ring along....didn't plan through V & A's and it did take some of the magic away for both couples. This is the start of their life together and they both deserve to be the stars....
Another great idea for a proposal would be an illuminations cruise snuggled up under the blanket.....

A little food for thought...if she has any idea that this might be coming, the farther into your trip you wait the more disappointed she may get. As some posters have noted, the girl thought it was coming, but he kept waiting, and then she gets upset and let down, then you lose the magic. Personally, I would have LOVED the slipper proposal at CRT...even though I know a lot of other brides-to-be get proposed to that way. I just think if she is excitedly waiting for you to pop the question, sooner is better. Just my opinion though. One dis-bride was propsed to on the People Mover, made for a great story too...non-traditional...

I still vote for CRT and the slipper myself.

If you really like your idea of building the ring (starting with a ring pop) you could do it without being obvious...

hand her your napkin ring one night at dinner.
buy her a ringpop at some candy shop (or bring one and pretend you bought it).
call her and say you just wanted to 'ring' her up.
tell her there's a ring around the tub.
get her a plastic ring from a quarter machine.

You could all of that before the trip, just to get her thinking.

You're so sweet to come here to ask for ideas. I know it's a once in a lifetime thing that you want done right!

I vote for V&A. Or that's what I would've wanted...

While it would be horrible to shadow - or be overshadowed - by another proposal, keep in mind you'll be at the chef's table. That should hopefully guarantee a little more privacy that I think you would want and also alleviate any pressure you might be feeling. Just my two cents...

Whatever you do, she'll love it!

I don't know how I missed the part about the Chef's Table... you definately won't see others getting engaged, if that's the case - you'll be the only ones eating in the kitchen! I'm sure there are creative ways to propose there, too.

I definitely agree with this! Last year I thought my then boyfriend (now DF) was going to propose in July when we went to Vermont (one of our favorite places to go...so quiet and romantic) and the whole trip it was all I thought about. Every time he said anything at all suggestive, I thought it was going to happen and it didn't and I was let down.

He had told me after that vacation that he was going to propose sometime "this year". We left for Disney Dec 22 and he proposed about an hour before the car service came to pick us up. I really thought he would do it at Disney but I am so glad that I didn't have to wait to find out!

So...the sooner the better. =D
