Some Various Wedding Questions

Hi, we are getting married Feb 1st, 2008 at Sunset Pointe (Poly) and we just wanted to know if there was anything that we should question or look into. Also its an escape weddding. We are staying at the Caribbean and the rest of our guests will be at the Coronado Springs. We basically wanted to know about dining reservations(how hard is it to make reservations for 9?) In what way can we travel from one resort to another? The reason why we aren't all staying together is some of our guests can be very controling and bother some (and those bothersome guests are some of the parents ). So we have some hurtles to overcome. The funny thing is I'm the groom and I'm the one setting up the entire wedding. We are arriving from NJ about 3 days before the wedding. So with that extra time I was planning on sending my wonderful bride for a day at the Grand Floridian Spa, if anyone has suggestions on that please feel free to let me know. Any ideas or advice would be great. We just went down to WDW this past August and it was terrific. I hadn't been there since 1981, so there was alot more then before.

I just want to make sure that everything runs smooth and perfect for my bride.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!

I love when grooms come on the boards. Making reservations for 9 can be easy or difficult depending on the restaurant. If you are looking for something like Cinderella's Royal Table, I would call the morning of the 180 day mark as soon as you wake up. If you are looking for something like Ohana's, it shouldn't be a problem. There have been some couples on here with parties of 60 in that restaurant. My advice is make the reservations sooner rather than later. You can always change them later on if you change your mind. To answer the transporation question, at those resorts you will have the shuttle to take you around. To get from one resort to another, you might have to switch buses somewhere like the boardwalk or DTD to get there. I don't think they offer shuttles from one resort to another, but I am not sure about that.

Thanks I was planning on making reservations as soon as possible. I figured the same about the transportaion. But I can deal with a little difficulty then having my bride upset with constant nagging from the bothersome guests.

Here is a helpful link to figure out when you can call to make your ADRs. Just put in your check-in date (since you will be staying at a Disney operated resort) and the date you want to dine at the desired restaurant(s) and it does the calculations for you.

I made ressies for 10 people (incl 1 infant) at 1900 PF for 6pm and had no problems. I called exactly 180 days out for all my ADR's to be sure!

I know Ohana's breakfast and dinner was terrific. We went in August and stayed at the Port Orleans French Quarter. It was my first time staying in the park. I was there once when I was much younger in 1981. My fiance had been there a few times. We just loved it so much we decided we had to get married there. We are torn between having the dinner at either California Grill (and we would have it later on about 8pm or so, because we heard the lower the lights right around the time of the fireworks show. So I thought that was a good idea for everyone. The wedding is 2:30pm) or Ohana. It's such a tough one but I know either choice will be terrific.

We have so many differences with our guests. The maid-of-honor(my sister) has never ever been there. My mom and dad were there in 81. One of our bridesmaids was there about 6 years ago. The Groomsmen was there once in 90 but only MK. Her parents were there in 89. The one who I can't wait to see WDW is my sister. Since she has never been and we are getting there a few days before the wedding we will take some time to show her everything in between the wedding plans.

I tell you one thing I am a very organized person and when we went in August I planned that vacation as well. That trip was quite a bit to plan and make sure everything was taken care of. This wedding is so much to take care of, but its for my bride. So no matter how hard it may be I take care of it. The only thing she has had to do so far was work on the dresses. She only got involved with some floral arrangements and music. I have added a few surprises for her so thats another thing I can't wait for. The wedding planner is so great. She makes the planning so much easier.

Since we are arriving a few days before the wedding, so we are making plans to go through the different parks and meet up for breakfasts and dinners. So we are making the reservations for those first few days as well. So we were planning on doing cg and ohana. Its basically which do we want to do on our wedding day. I'm leaning towards Ohana myself, and my bride pretty much just goes with whatever I pick. She always happy with Disney so it doesn't matter where we go.

You are allowed to return to the observation deck later to watch the fireworks -- I think you save your receipt -- I'm not sure as we haven't done this, but I know they told us we could return that evening when we were there this May. The easy thing is to not invite, but their parents of the bride. I want to make sure my bride does not get upset on her wedding.

The only thing that I can think of is to have you bride-to-be talk with them before the wedding. If it comes down to it, tell them they won't be invited, or will be asked to leave, if they start a scene. I know if that were my parents, I would rather them leave then to ruin the day. Also, try and keep them on a need to know basis only. Don't even tell them about where you ADR's at at, just that you are making them. There was one bride on here who's mom changed ADR's so that her friends could come along.
