Several weeks ago I read a thread about the "perfect Disney shoes" where the poster recommended Montrail Molokini flip flops. I decided to try them out as I have NEVER worn any shoes for an entire day at a theme park without blisters and pain. I tested them out yesterday at our local Six Flags. And to my shock and delight--NO blisters or pain! :cool1: And much better looking than Crocs! (Which for the record also gave me blisters.) Now, I wonder how they'll do with that kind of walking 8 days in a row! We'll see!

I can tell you they will do great. I'm the original poster who recommended the Montrail Molokinis. I discovered them for my trip this past May and fell in love with them. I wore them more than my beloved Teva Mush flip flops, that I've always recommended so highly for WDW. I just ordered my second pair of Montrail Molokinis yesterday and can't wait to get them home and get them baked. (Yes, for those of you not familiar with them these shoes are baked before you wear them. You then wear them while they are warm and they mold perfectly to your feet.) Both pairs will be making the trip to WDW with me in Sept/Oct. Glad you liked them as much as me. Aren't they wonderful:cloud9: ?

Even after baking mine, I don't see any foot imprint. Should you see it? They feel great, though!

That's strange. After baking mine and then wearing them for a few minutes I could see the imprint of every toe and even the lines (toeprints?) of each toe imprint. Now my first pair were the tan and brick colored ones, so that light tan sole bed may have had something to do with the toe prints showing up so clearly, but yes you can see every little line on each of my toes imprinted on the footbeds. With their great arch support they fit every single centimeter of my sole in total cushioned support, even under each toe.

I just got mine in the mail last week. I have extremely sensitive feet and get blisters and torn skin after wearing shoes for not even five minutes. I wore mine all day yesterday and they are so comfortable! There are no signs of rubbing, redness, or blisters. I was very nervous about spending $55 for a pair of sandals but the molokinis are the best. They do run a little wider and longer than the usual cheap ones, but I don't think they look bad. They are true lifesavers for me. I can't wait to wear them on our trip in September!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't tried the Molokinis before. But, I did get these Bite Spirit OS sandals this year because I need to have arch support. I've recently started using orthotic inserts in my sneakers that I use to exercise in everyday...so I was very intrigued by the fact that these...well....basically flip flops..could actually accommodate orthotic inserts. You don't have to use them and they still fit great and I haven't so far). But, it is nice to have the option.

i'm bummed, i was so excited to hear about these flips, as i have flat feet normally requiring orthodics, so these seemed the perfect solution. well, i bought mine at a local store, baked them, wore them as suggested for 3 minutes. decided to take my daily walk in them, and came home with the worst blisters from the straps. what am i doing wrong? so so disappointed. so now, i'm gonna grin and bear it and hopefully build callouses so i can wear them around wdw next month. either that or resort to my perfect birkenstocks and pray to not get caught in the rain.

I just went to the orthopedic dr and he said I needed special orthodoctics since I had developed tendonitis from my fallen arches. Told me to get them special made but YiKES! insurance won't cover.
Since then I went and got the special insoles from the drug store and been wearing my sneakers more and its been definitely helping. Well I'm heading to Disney next week. I had asked him if all the walking would aggravate it and he said yes but just take it easy. (I actually wasn't taken with the drs bed side manner)

Which sandals do you use with orthodoctics and which insoles do you use?
He couldn't give me a name of a good one. Just told me to read the package?!

I bought the flip flops a while ago and at first I didn't like them because the thing between my toes was cutting into the skin and it hurt, but after wearing them a while, I like them.

I baked them and didn't see much of a toe imprint, but as I'm wearing them I can see it more and more.

Debbie, the Bite Spirit OS sandals let you use your own orthotics with them. I have actually been using the Dr. Schols orthotics in my sneakers and had thought I would put them in the Bite sandals as well. But, the sandals were so good to begin with that I haven't put the orthotics in them. BUT, you can if you want to. The sandals come with instructions on how to put the orthotics in.

Debbie, I went up a half size only because they don't sell half sizes. I typically wear a 9.5, but never wear a 9 becaus I have a wide foot. So, I went up to a 10. The footbed is comfortably wide and cradles nicely. I would say it is a tad roomy, but not a overly so. Particularly since I can actually adjust the fit to be tighter by pulling the front straps tighter. If you look closely in the pictures you can see that you can lift up velcro strips and pull the band down tighter on your foot and then put the velcro strips back in place. That feature also helps control how much "flip" you get out of them. The more comfortably snug the fit, the less of that flip flop action you get, which makes them even more comfortable. The best way to describe it is they feel more like sneaker mules with extra air conditioning ( ) when you get the front tightened up just right.

How heavy are these flip flops (the Montrail Molokini ones)? I wouldn't mind trying them out, but I can't stand heavy flip flops. I love my extremely light weight Wal-Mart on sale $2.00 flip flops, but they are about 1 1/2 years old and they are showing their age (they have warped and molded into the shape of my heel).

Try some Body Glide where the straps rub to help prevent blisters.

:scared1: We used body glide on our last trip in March and my DD still got blisters from her sandals! I was so excited after reading so much about body glide that I decided to buy it for our trip, I was very dissapointed...

The Molokinis only come in whole sizes, correct? If you wear a half size should you order up a half size, or down? Also does anyone know how well these fit narrow feet?

I just got my Montrail Molokini yesterday. Read about them on this thread and though I'd give them a try. I have wide feet and wear a size 7 1/2 so I ordered an 8. Followed the directions, baked them, and then put them on. Walked around for a while. They felt great. I wore them shopping today for about 4 hours, I LOVE THESE SHOES! I've had surgery on both feet so I'm pretty pickey about shoes. I'm just sitting here now trying to decide on what other color I want. I got the black. Also, Zappo's has a special going on now, fed-ex overnite. I ordered them on Wed. and got them late yesterday. Again, LOVE THESE SHOES. They will replace my Teva's.
