Today my husband and I were cutting down a tree in our yard. He started by climbing up into the tree to get to the top to start there when all of a sudden he lost his footing and came sliding down it. He ended up getting his foot wedged in the tree and injuring his ankle. I am an xray tech so I took him into our office and xrayed it. I don't see anything obvious but concerned about a little faint mysterious line in his fibula that I am not sure what it is. This could be a small fracture by not sure. He is in a good amount of pain when he puts weight on it. Unfortunately we will have to wait until Monday until a doctor looks at the xrays. So our trip begins July 16th thru the 23rd. We are going to Fort Myers first and then finishing our trip at Disney. If he is on crutches at that time I know I will just get a wheel chair for the parks but the problem is Typhoon Lagoon. This would be our first time going to the water park and if there is something wrong we will have to eliminate that. I guess we will just do another day at the parks. Cross your fingers for me and say a little prayer that I am just looking to much into the xray and there is really nothing wrong. :worried:

Oh, I'm sorry that had to happen especially so close to your trip. Here's hoping it's not serious and he's feeling much better by the time you go on your trip! Have fun and best wishes!:goodvibes

I injured myself before going to WDW a couple of years ago. I am sending you some pixiedust: pixiedust:

Sending a prayer for your hubby. Hope he feels better quickly, has no fractures and your trip is magical!:flower3:

I hope everything ends up ok with your husband. I'm an x-ray tech too, so I can imagine what was going through your head when he fell. I wonder if one of those air splints might work for Typhoon Lagoon :confused3 I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a speedy recovery. :cheer2:

I hope your DH is ok.

We went to WDW for 9 days in May.

The day we left on our trip, DH broke his big toe!!
We rented a scooter from Walker Mobility & he had to use that all week.
We did go to Blizzard Beach one day, but didn't stay long. He couldn't do as much as usual...like walking up all those steps to Teamboat Springs (not possible)!!

In 2.5 weeks, we're going again to WDW for 9 days & I've told DH, "No broken bones this time"...

Here's sending pixie dust your way and hoping it's nothing.
I think those of us who are in that line of work think the worst when it's our own family. I know being a nurse, my kids sicknesses always seem worse to me.

Geez, must have been a week for trees. I was out on Tuesday evening cutting down a small tree. Stepped around it to work the other side and had a branch about the thickness of a pencil go into my shin and up my leg (under the skin of course) about 1.5-2 inches. I'm hobbling about myself. Then of course it got infected so I'm on antibiotics. THEN of course my foot is swollen about 2x the size. THEN of course.....:rotfl2:

Yeah, I laugh about it now, but it sure hurt when it happened!! Fortunately (or unfortunately???) we don't have a trip planned right now so won't have to worry.

Best wishes to your husband.

 Great news! No fracture. A very bad strain/sprain that will take about 5 weeks to heal. He is so relieved. Although it hurts very much he knows it could have been worse. Thank you everyone for thinking about him. Kies99 hope your leg is healing well. Your situation sounds terrible. I suggest you and my husband should stay away from trees for awhile.

Again thanks DISBOARD family for caring!:grouphug:

I'm a radiographer as well...not practicing at the time, but keeping up with my license because I don't want to EVER have to take the boards again.

Anyway, I know you're glad to know that it's just a sprain. We went to WDW for 7 days in late May/early June and I had to use an ECV due to rheumatoid arthritis and recovering from my 2nd knee surgery this year (torn ACL and bone graft), so I feel his pain. Just take it easy and if he needs to, rent a chair. I hated it at first, but it was my only way of doing the parks at all.

:cool1: Yay! That's great news! I hope he feels a good bit better by the time of your trip. Will you still go to Typhoon Lagoon in this case? I hope you have a wonderful vacation! :wizard:
