For HDD - woudl you pay for level 1 - right in front of the stage ? Or would you do level 3 in the balcony or level 2 in the back of the 1st floor ?

Last year we paid(pre-tiers) oop and sat next to stage. This year on free dining, we're using the plan and sitting in tier two. If I weren't going with rookies, I'd prefer to pay tier one and sit close. It is worth every extra penny.

I have only sat next to stage and up in the balcony. I think both those places are good. Tier 2 seems like it would be hard to see, but I haven't sat there so I can't be sure.

It's a toss up for me. I have been twice with just DH and myself and we were close to the stage but off to the side which is perfect to me. I have also sat front and center with our party of 5 - too close for me).

The balcony on the left and right are long tables and you don't face the stage while you eat. You have to turn around to watch the show.

I guess no matter where you sit - you will have a great time! :thumbsup2

We have been there twice and have had seats in front of the stage both times. So I am not sure if balcony seats are better but being in front of the stage is really a great place to be. I do think that you may get a better view in the balcony.

Our party of two in December 06, one of us paid cash and the other used the Dining Plan and we were seated in the most awful spot you could imagine--even though I had booked early...the very back wall, under the balcony, next to the wall. It felt a million miles away and I could see that waiters would constantly be walking in front of the table. After complaining, we got moved..up to the balcony, (pretty steep climb for my mother) which was better, but we still had to sit, half-turned around in our chairs and look around a post.

The prior two times I had been, we paid cash and got good seats, one time right next to the stage. In October, I am returning with others who have never been, so we are paying cash for Tier 1--even though we will use the DDP for other meals.

I have not been there, since WDW started with the tiers. We have been there twice. Both times we were on the main floor. I love the Hoop. What are the dividing lines for the tiers?

One time we were the second row from the stage. The other time we were near the back. Though the Hall is not all that large, I did prefer the second row from the stage.

I booked Tier one, because I wanted to be close to the action. I've seen the HDDR 3 times and I LOVE it. I haven't been in 5 years and this is the first time for my kids and my aunt who is travelling with us. I'm looking forward to the corny fun and hoping that my DH gets picked to do the can-can! LOL! :lmao:

We have the DDP, but decided to pay for tier 1. We had too many ADR's anyway, so we would have had to pay for some OOP or pay for HDR. So I decided to pay for HDR to get tier 1. That being said, everytime we saw it before we were on the balcony, and actually liked it up there, so I hope I'm not disappointed.

quick ?.We used the DDP to get our tix and we were able to get teir 2 but when we called to make the ressie we had got the last table in that section. They said you are seated by when you make you ressie.(I made them 5 mths in advance but to late I guess) So we would get put in the back on the main floor. Can we ask a check in to be put on the balcony in the front row even though its teir 3? They said some people do cancel so they also move people up with no shows and cancellations.
Or does it mater when you show up to the show where you get seated as long as they put you in the teir you payed for.
As you can see we have never been before and our just trying to figure out how it work.
TIA

I know seating isn't based on when you show up. We always pick our HDD ticket up when we check in at our resort and our table number in on that slip of paper.

I was going to post this exact question, as we are getting ready for reservations. Just wondering if anyone else has input on whether its worth it to pay the extra money for Tier 1 or 2?

Also, are you more likely to be picked to participate if you are in tier 1? This is our first time going and the kids would love to be included.

Thanks.

We've been to HDD several times, and have always been told the seating is done when you make the reservation. That being said, we've had front and center table once and it was great! Another time, we were about maybe the third table back, but almost in the center. This past July, we went and were upstairs on the right, about halfway back. Seats were great!!! We had a great time upstairs, and they even came around and asked us where we were from and made up a little jingle about being from Louisiana.

Food was really good - and we'd definitely go back!

:offtopic: This is a little off topic-but if you have the dining plan what tier do you get? We have sat on the main floor and in the balcony in the past, and even though we were not in the front, we liked the main floor better.

We are doing the Deluxe Dining Plan in March so I guess we will get whatever they give us, in the past we would always pay OOP for HDD, but with 3 meals a day there is no need to pay OOP.

With DDP you get tier 2 or 3. You can pay oop for tier 1 if you choose. We're going in Dec. I'm using dining plan tier 2, we booked it day we were at 180 mark.

Thanks DreaminDisney. I have mine booked already for March 2008 on the Dining Plan but they did not tell me which tier-can you find out before you get there?

We paid OOP for tier 1 and we were towards the back of tier 1 and the seats were just fine. I think if I had been any closer I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much. I also thought you could get tier 1 seating on the dining plan, if you went to the 9:30 show.

I personally think the tier 3 up in the balcony are the best seats in the house. Plus the cast even come up there to say hi as well at some point, and they are the cheapest. No big heads in my way up there ever.:cool1:

We booked Tier 1 On the DDP for the 9:30 show...Great way to build a base, drink some Free (pre paid) Beer and Head to PI After for more fun!

{PERSONAL OPINION, ONLY}

1) There are many people that don't mind the balcony.
2) There are many people that don't mind the back of the house.
3) I would not attend HDDR without Tier-1 seats.
4) When paying attending a show, I want to be closer.
5) I also do not want to look downward or crane my neck or view from afar.
