We're going in July and I know it will be hot, hot, hot. We're from Georgia so we're fairly used to the heat (although not used to being out in it all day long!). I'm going to bring lightweight shorts and t-shirts for my two DDs, but personally I find lightweight cotton skirts to be much cooler in hot weather than shorts for me. I bought several this spring at Penneys and they're really comfortable...knee length, full so they move and aren't tight at all.

Here's my question -- would I feel out of place (or get weird looks) if I wore something like that with a cute t-shirt to the parks? Like I said, to me a lightweight skirt is much more comfortable in the heat than shorts...but I don't want to end up on a episode of "What Not to Wear to Disney World"! :rotfl:

Thanks!

Not at all! I saw plenty of people in skirts on my last trip. Including teens in micro-mini's trying to climb in and out of the rides  You'll be fine, especially if it's knee length! Just wear what's comfy, I can pretty well guarantee that you'll see plenty of people that should be on what not to wear, WDW edition lol!

I won't be there at the same time, but that's what I'm planning to wear part of the time too. I was there in May and lots of women were wearing skirts or sundresses. Some wear short under their skirts.

I wore a skirt one evening, BF and I were celebrating our anniverary and i dressed up. It was about 90 outside and I didn't feel out of place. But I normally wear jeans, even threw the summer in Georgia. I don't wear short shorts, and have just started to wear capris and the shorts that go to the knees.

I'm going in September and planning to wear skirts and sundresses! My guess is you'll be in good company.

I'm planning on probably wearing mostly skirts on our trip in September. I'll have to be buying maternity clothes by then, and I don't want to buy a bunch of shorts that I'll only wear for a few weeks. If I buy skirts I can wear them into fall and winter

I wore skirts when I was there in May. It was so hot, even then, that I couldn't have cared less if I looked like a giant baboon!

Skirts are my New Favorite thing to wear this Summer and
I will be wearing them this Sept. at WDW.
I find them to be cooler than shorts but
That being said, I get heat rash from walking
in the heat and humitity with the skirts.
So, I have purchased Wicking exercise
shorts to wear under the skirts and
I have been wearing them under my
skirts and it has really helped. ;)

You'll be fine wearing skirts. There are alot of women that wear skirts and sundresses. I say wear whatever you'll be most comfortable in.

One way to help this is to use something like liquid powder or bodyglide. I use liquid powder made by Huggies and it works like a charm.

You should be fine with skirts. Just make sure you bring ponchos and umbrellas, because last July it rained every day we were there. Usually only for about an hour or two each day, but it poured. Have fun!

Great idea!!! I never used the samples I had for ds so I will add those to the packing pile tonight!

Thanks for the idea, Since I don't have little ones anymore,
I'm guessing that I can find the liquid powder by Huggies in the diaper section?
Does it rub off by the end of a long day or do you have to reapply?
Thanks so much :confused3

I read 2 tips here - one was for Monistat Soothing Care Chafing Relief and I'm hooked on that now - it's also the same as expensive makeup foundation primers. I use it on my inner thighs and the tops of my feet and where my bra straps touch.

The other tip was to wear bicycle shorts under dresses/skirts so I went to Dick's Sporting Goods and found these moisture-wicking white shorts meant for women tennis players and I'll never wear another dress without them now.

I bought liquid powder in the baby section at Dollar Tree and it works great for me. The bodyglide works, too, but the powder is so much cheaper! :)

I like skorts -- we called them "scooter skirts" when I was a teenager. They are skirts with shorts built in. You can get them in lightweight knits (like athletic wear), or you can get them in lightweight cottons. I find them to be cool, comfortable, and probably more flattering on most women than shorts. They also provide the necessary coverage when climbing in and out of rides.

I've bought them at Penney's, Belk's, Kohl's.

But, answering your original question --- If you are comfortable in skirts/dresses, go for it. I've seen plenty of them in the parks.
