We are staying at the BWV for NYE, I was wondering if any special activities are planned for there that night. Also wondering if they they close the parks to onsite guests. Thanks.

Since you will be at BWV, Epcot is a GREAT place to be for NYE! It's our favorite place to spend NYE! We did see the park close on NYE 1999/2000, but not since then. The last NYE we did at Epcot was 2005/2006, and it wasn't too bad at all that night for crowding. The Illuminations is extra long at midnight, and absolutely spectacular. Just be sure you don't do dinner at 6 PM in any of the WS countries that have European time zones! We made that mistake in 1999, and it was very difficult to get to the restaurant entrance with all the revelling.

We stayed at BWV for NY 2004. They had a NYE party on the Boardwalk Village Green (DJ, games, etc). We went to Epcot that day, it got really busy and we left around 11pm and headed back to the BW and watched the fireworks from our balcony. It is a great time at the BW, though!

We've done 7 NYE's so far, and the crowd does vary somewhat year to year. I think it might have something to do with what day of the week everything falls on. When people can make a long weekend out of it I think the crowds are higher than when NYE is mid week. Just .02

We did this past NYE (Dec 31, 2006) and the crowds were high again. And of course it was a weekend, NYE was on Sunday so DVC points were considered weekday rates. And New Year's day was Monday, a holiday, and the weather couldn't be better.

As far as closing the parks, there is a 'pecking order' of closure. I'm not sure what the different thresholds are, but the lowest order would be day guests not staying on site and driving in for the day.

Resort guests are pretty much the last group to get 'locked out', but it is possible. Once the parks reach absolute capacity, no one can really get in.

That said, I think people were still getting into Epcot as late as 9:00 pm so I don't know if they ever closed it or not. From what I understand, MK tends to be the one that gets closed the most.

Hope this helps.

We were there 2005/2006 and felt Epcot was way over crowded. In fact my DD5 got really ill, nothing to do with crowds, and we had to leave the park quickly. What would have been a 5 min walk turned into 30-45 mins, because it was so crowded. We walked back to the swan, my DD11 and I watched 3 parks worth of fireworks from the bridge near the dolphin/swan. It was fantastic. My poor DH took DD5 back to the hotel. In fact that turned out to be the end of our holiday as she was ill right uptill we flew home on the Thursday 5 days later. We only managed to fly home because she was treated in hospital the day before.

We are hoping to stay in BWV or BVC this NYE and will be viewing the fireworks from the bridge and have a nice uncrowded evening.

We stayed at BWV for christmas & New Years last year. Prior to christmas day the parks were crowded but managable. From christmas day on, was very crowded. btw Xmas & NYE, I rememmber they closed down 2 parks on one day, I think it was MK & MGM, till later that evening. We left MK on that day because it was unenjoyable. For the Dumbo ride, was over an hour wait. On NYE day we went to MK and it was beautiful there, but very crowded. We left around 4:00 after the parade because we had the 2nd seating dinner reservations at Narcoosees at the GF Hotel. The food was great. The best part of it was at midnight, they gave us hats & noisemakers, champagne & we went out on the balcony and saw the fireworks. One of the bardges that shot of the fireworks was right in front of us. Beautiful and no crowd.

Before we left for dinner, we went out on the boardwalk. There was alot of stuff going on. DJ with music & everyone dancing. The place was hopping. My daughter was upset when we had to leave the boardwalk for our reservation because she was having a great time. They also gave out hats, not sure about noisemakers. Hope you have a blast.

Hi BCV2003
I pulled out the menu from Narcoossee Grand Floridian Party for last year.
Appetizer: Crab Cake
Soup (choice of) Seafood Chowder or Pumpkin Soup
Salad: Frisee, Watercress & apple Salad
Intermezzo: Pear Sorbet
Entrees (choice of): Surf & Turf, Pan-Seared Wild Striped Bass, or Pan-Seared Scallops
Dessert (choice of): Almond Crusted Dome or Bittersweet Chocolate Mousse Dome

Dress: Business casual

9:00 seating: Cost $135 Adult & I think child was $85. Drinks not included. Oh and it included champagne toast, noise makers & hats. There was a music & a small dance floor. The 6:00 seating $90 Adult & $42 child, no hats, noise makers or champagne.

My DD 8 didn't like the menu so we asked for pasta & they gave it to her

I hope you have a blast.

Wow, we were there the same time, and tought it was not crowded at all compared to some NYE we have attended at Epcot. It might have helped that we were viewing the midnight festivities from inside a handicapped viewing area though.
