Which DVC resort dilemma-opinion wanted! (warning-a bit rambling!)

Hi all!! Here's my dilemma. Going to WDW 1/18-1/27/08. Staying in Studio w/ DH & DD18 1/18-1/23. Then friends joining us on 1/23-1/27 (one couple first time at WDW!!) & am renting 2 bdrm. Right now, we have the reservations at our home resort-SSR! (We just bought, so first trip home!) DH & DD have looked at the other locations & DH thought our DD18 would enjoy the BWV b/c of the hustle & bustle & sights of the boardwalk! Our one set of friends who have never been are absolute animal freaks & I think they would absolutely love the AKV. So, when 6/23/07 comes, should I try to switch our studio to one at BWV? SHould I try to do day by day? Then when 6/28/07 should I try to get AKV for the 6 of us to stay in a 2bdrm? Or shoudl I try day by day there too? Or do you think I should stay put with what I have? ( I mean SSR is close to DTD, so DD18 would have that close by!) And I think our friends would love the beauty of SSR & being close to DTD.
Both my DD18 & our friends say they don't care whatever I want to do. I know I may not even be able to get AKV, but I am worried that when 6/27/07 opens up concierge & value for everyone, any rooms that are remaining (& there may not be many) will be gone. Since I have to wait until 6/28/07, I amy lose out on that option. (I do have to wait until the day after I checkout for the 7 month window, correct??)
I'd also love to try VWL, but not sure I'd want to change rooms 3 times!!
Sorry so long & rambling....Send me any & all opinions. Debbie

Just replying to one of your ?s...............if you decide you want AKV from 1/23-1/28, you certainly can call on the 27th and ask about availability 'til 1/27. If there's none open on Wednesday, there probably won't be any for Thursday, either. If they have something 'til the 27th, you can then decide whether or not to chance it and call the next day for the final date. :thumbsup2
Good luck whatever you do. :goodvibes

DVC Grammy-thanks for the quick reply- I think I was confusing in my note--we need the 2 bdrm for 1/23-1/27/08. (checking out on the 27th) I thought I had to wait until the day afer I check out for my 7 month window to begin??! That's where I got the June 28th date! :confused3 Is that correct? Also, because it is AKV & it is new-do you think I should try day to day or just wait til the last day of the reservation? Thanks, Deb

DVC Grammy makes an excellent suggestion. If you call on the 23 and there is already very little available for you dates at AKV, then I guess I would make your reservations at your home resort. You can still visit AKV and have dinner there one night and get a good feel for the place for future visits.

I am a SSR owner and feel it is the most beautiful resort. That being said I like BWV because we can walk or boat over to Epcot or The Studios. Your DD won't be old enough for Jelly Rolls but there is a lot of other activty at night on the boardwalk itself. You also have many resturant choice's at the BW. Now at SSR you can walk to DTD and DD along with you can enjoy the nightlife at DTD. If DD like's to shop she will be in heaven at DTD. I also like AKV and plan to purchase points fairly soon. The concierge there is very good and added bonus of the sunrise safari is very nice. When I stay at AKV it will be to just relax, sit on my balcony in the moring, slowly drink my morning coffee and enjoy the animals. The pool is also very nice and you have a couple good choice's for your meals along with the grab and go. If you are concerned about getting a ressie book day by day or you can be put on a waitlist. Susan

Thanks for the info so far everyone. Susan, you sound just like me-I loved sitting on the balcony w/ my morning cofee & watching the animals when I was at AKL. I know my friend would enjoy it too. I also like the boat ride from BWV to Studios & EPCOT!! I guess I just can't go wrong & I can leave it up to fate to decide!! HA! IF I call & BWV & AKV are available for my dates, then so be it-we'll stay there. IF not SSR here we come & I know we will love it there as well!! Deb
