Will 1 day in DL be worth it?

Hi all..I'm new to DISboards and I've been looking at the different posts regarding Disneyland and I am going to California for a week, but would only have 1 day to go to Disneyland....In your opinion (anyone, everyone!) would that 1 day be worth it? I haven't been to a Disney park since 2002...so I'm long overdue and I have never been to Disneyland...I will be going solo in July.

Any and all responses are welcome and appreciated!!!

Yes, one day in DL would be worth it. Unlike WDW, most people who visit DL are day trippers and locals who are only visiting for one day.

To me even just one day is better than no days at DL! Being a solo person you should probably be able to plan everything out and do most of the major rides depending on crowds and such. Might not have enough time for shows and parade watching but you could still have a lot of fun.

I agree. Once is better then never and they could actually plot out what was not necessary.

I would totally go even if it was just for 1 day. There are plenty of good rides that are fun and unique to DL. Don't miss the new Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage and also Indiana Jones Adventure, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Pirates, and Buzz Lightyear's Astroblasters. Since you've never been to DL, I wouldn't waste my time with DCA. Keep the extra 20 bucks and spend the day only at DL especially because Nemo might take a while.

Arrive early and stay as late as you can. Use Fastpass and you should have no problem. There is also a Single Rider line at Splash Mountain. If you do decide to buy a park hopper, there are also single rider lines at Soarin, Grizzly River Run, Screamin (doesn't open until 1:00 on weekdays), Mulholland Madness, and Maliboomer.

Oh definitely, especially since you're going solo! No pesky other opinions! :)

For our "one day blasts", as I call them, I checked out ALL the MOST RECENT Disneyland guide books, and practically memorized them. I knew I needed the info for all the contingencies (hubby, our kiddo, my brother, and his wife, each of whom had their own opinions, hunger levels, and interests), and it worked out very nicely. No one but DH knew the work I'd put into it, but everyone had a good time, and that was good.

But it's just you, and i'm jealous! I'd still look at all the most recent guidebooks, because of the time of year you're going. Get a decent list of things you want to ride, see, and do, allow the books to help you get a good order.

And have fun!

Since we go in the off season when the parks are closed earlier, and since there have been so many of us, we haven't gone to DCA (will be remedied in September). But I think if I were solo and going during the long-hours season, I wouldn't avoid it. I think I'd rather have the options of going over there if things were going really well, or if things were just miserable...so I myself would get a hopper. But I've never done it, so I don't really KNOW.

Have fun!

Three summers ago in 2004 my family and I were in San Fernando Valley for my Great uncle's 90th birthday. It was only a 45 minute drive to Disneyland. We all only went for one day. It's SOOOO worth it!! :goodvibes
