DisneyQuest Closing

Anyone have the latest rumor on DisneyQuest closing? Is this true? I read previous threads that ESPN was moving there. Would love that. Also, anyone know what new clubs might be moving to Pleasure Island (if any)? thx

I think that rumor started with Jim Hill. And as far as I know that is the only place anyone has heard it, unless it is from a friend of a friend.
If I hear from multiple sources DQ is closing, then I would start thinking that rumor has merit.
I would not be surprised to see some change due to PI changing, and most everything in WDW being in a constant change anyway.
If people say this rumor long enough its bound to happen some day. :confused3

The rumor makes sense. DQ has been a failure. The idea of opening one up in other major cities so you could have a "touch of Disney" in Chicago, NY, Phillie etc seemed like a good idea but didn't work. DQ is basically a glorified arcade and people caught on. To pay $40 to get into it seems silly.

DisneyQuest has been "closing" for years now. Yes, the one in Chicago was a failure, which scuttled the plans for a chain of them, but the one at DTD closing is nothing but a rumor at this point.

I DO think it is overpriced for cash customers, especially if you are only going in for a short time. You really need to spend several hours there to be worthwhile - you can't just drop your kids off there and shop for a bit.

DW and I will have a PAP this year, so we plan to at least stop by for a while, while its still open... :)

I agree that it's a rip-off for a one-day ticket. PAP makes it as nice way to kill 20 minutes before catching a movie at AMC. The upkeep isn't that great and even though they keep removing and/or spreading around the games, they are still adding new things every so often. I doubt it's going anywhere soon. It'd be nice to see a drop in ticket price or a return to the "Final Two Hours for 15 bucks ticket." When friends would come to visit, we found that two hours was PLENTY of time to hit all of the big activities and still get in some head-to-head driving or shooting games.

I was wanting to know about this too. We may be going next month and want to make sure we get in one more visit to DQ.

Has anyone heard anything more on this? Will it still be there next summer too?
Thanks,
DJ

They are still selling the combo water park / DQ annual pass. Not sure what that means, if anything with respect to an eventual DQ demise.

The Jim Hill rumor had it closing late this year or early next, if I remember correctly. So even if he's right you should be ok, westjones.

Rumor is false. I've posted on this probably 20 times within the past year or two.

DisneyQuest is not planned to be closed anytime soon, nor is the DisneyQuest at WDW considered a "failure" ( the other DQ locations were, DQ-WDW is not! ). ESPN, last I knew did not even want to take over that building.

Can we PLEASE stop these threads?! My gosh, a new "disney quest is closing" thread pops up once a month!

I am a glass half full sorta person. We were at DQ yesterday and from the wait times we saw and were a part of, if it closes, it would surprise me. It was the most crowded I have ever seen it. And ESPN is still packed, at least Sat night was, so yeah, they could use a larger place. DQ IMO just needs some updates and changes to keep it fresh.

Since Search is so problematic for so many DIS'ers, newbies *especially* won't know that the subject's already been discussed (over and over again).

agnes!

It could close sometime, just like EVERYTHING will close someday.

But I've not heard anything definite on that - and I don't consider it a failure. A one-day ticket is still a great value, considering it used to be pay-per-play, and it was easy to go through $50 in a couple of hours (when it wasn't crowded). Now there are people with AP's, one day tickets, and it's part of the Water park fun and more tickets. I expect it is doing just fine financially.

I used to be able to get one-day tickets for $21, on a MouseSavers newsletter special through Ticketmania. That was a pretty good price. Now I am hard-pressed to find anything under $30. Not sure what it means, except maybe that Disney is happy to continue taking in money from it.

While not much under $30, ticketmania.com has adult tickets for $29 and child for $26. I still have a few that I bought at $21 so I need them to stay opened until I get to use them all. ;)

Off topic....but if DQ is staying open, I was wondering how much an annual pass is since we will be there at least 3 times over the next year.
Thanks,
DJ

Current price for DQ AP is $89 adult or $71 child. However, you can get a combined Water Park/DQ AP for $129/$99.
