Leave a Legacy Sales To End

If this has already been posted somewhere, I apologize. If not, has anyone else heard about the removal of the Leave a Legacy sales booths. It's believed that sales of new tiles will end on June 16th 2007. While the tiles themselves will remain in place, the means to purchase them will be removed. The existing tile locator will be moved to the Camera Shop underneath Spaceship Earth so that guests will still be able to find their images. The actual tiles are not being removed, only sales of new tiles are expected to be halted.

I'm so upset about this. In 2003 I started a tradition of taking my each of my nieces and nephews to Walt Disney World for his or her 16th birthday. My 3 oldest nieces have already gone, one in 2003, one in 2004, and one in 2005. On each trip I have bought them a Legacy Tile at EPCOT to commemorate the occasion. Now it's my nephew's turn and his 16th birthday trip is all planned for 10/6-10/13. If the above is true, I won't be able to buy him a Legacy Tile to commemorate his trip. His 2 older sisters each have one and now he will not.

I enjoy visiting these tiles every time I return to WDW as they bring back memories from those trips. I'm just really upset that my nephew won't have one.:guilty:

I think its too bad that they have to leave those things in place for so many more years. It ruins the Epcot entrance plaza area.

Just my opinion.

OP, that stinks about your tradition!

I have to agree though, I am in with the croud that thinks that the leave a legacy stuff has spolied the SE vista.

My family bought a brick... remember when they offered that at MK? That was so nice, I wonder why they stopped offering those. They never finished the walk around the world. I would have loved to have bought a second brick for my family now (married with dd). I liked that it was improving the area around the MK. I don't get why they stopped that... they could have done them at all the parks, and they would not have been as monsterous as those Leave a Legacy monolths.

1) I am glad to see the end to the little squares.
2) I think the tombstones are UGLY.
3) They completely destroy the entrance to Epcot.
4) Instead of a beautiful flower array and SSE, you see monoliths.
5) I am glad I ordered a new brick.

Sadly, they {Disney} did a really bad job in designing the display area for these photos. There have been several threads over time that speak of the unsightlyness of these "grave stones" as they have been refered to by many folks. Apparently, from what I hear, that even though there are a lot of guests that like to post photos there, the whole idea did not go over as big as Disney had hoped. Seems they had planned on filling all of the available spaces a long time ago, but the concept was not as popular as the stones in the walkways around the property. { why they stopped selling those I don't know} I have to agree with those that say the stones are unsightly where they placed them. Maybe inside the park somewhere would have been better.:confused3

I read in another thread on the resort board that the Walk Around the World Bricks are starting to be sold again.

Any ideas who I would contact about purchasing one of these? :thumbsup2

Are you referring to the bricks at the Magic Kingdom? That would be awesome. If I can't purchase my nephew a Legacy Tile, I'd be happy with purchasing him a Walk Around The World Brick at Magic Kingdom.

My husband just got off the phone and they are e-mailing him the application. He said that he was connected to the customer service desk in front of the MK and the number he used was:1-407-824-7890. (He heard the train whistle in the background and was wishing he was there ) He confirmed that the brick was $295.00. I am very excited! Hope this helps

I have to agree with many of the other posters. The "graveyard" in Epcot is probably the worst design the Imagineers have ever come up with. And what make it worse is that it is located in one of the most visible and recognized place in all of WDW.

I dont like these LAL because they ruin the entrance plaza
My parents always say when we walk in look at these war memorial look a likes

But if i cant get one of these than i will get one of those stones in the MK

I don't think they are selling the pavers/stones any more, even at $295 each.

They are not currently for sale.

They started a "fill in" program to replace the blank bricks. Word got out here and on other boards, and things kind of went nuts - and the next thing we knew, the program was closed again. Some people are getting bricks (it seems anyone who had been charged on their credit cards already), but others will not and they are not accepting applications.

There is hope it will re-open again, but perhaps under some control, but the CMs involved don't have any information.

Here is the thread with ALL the details... :)
