cheapest or weirdest thing you have ever seen in disney restaurant or food court.

We saw a woman we've ever after referred to as "Potato Girl" sit down on the monorail and pull out a tupperware container containing a baked potato. She then proceeded to gnaw on the potato as the monorail rode on.

We were at Earl of Sandwich about 2-3 weeks ago and saw a woman order a roast beef sandwich and then pull EVERYTHING out of the sandwich, wrap it up, throw it away, and eat the plain bread. It seems to me she probably could have just asked for a plain piece of bread, and I bet they'd have sold it to her.

Cheers!

We were at the Poly last year and went to Captain Cook's for breakfast. We sat at the table outside and the people next to us had a large box of Frosted Flakes they brought with them and the kids were eating the cereal. I used a couple of snack credits to buy cereal and milk for my kids. The strange part was that in the room I had the same box of Frosted Flakes but was too self conscious to bring it to the food court!

I have another story from the Food & Fun Center. On December 25, 2004 around 11:30 AM or 12:00 PM it was jammed with people and when I say jammed, it was jammed because the line to order food was huge. Because of all the people there the Cast Member who was taking orders screamed if you want Cheeseburgers we suggest you go outside to the Sand Bar. I am guessing they were running low on pagers that would buzz when everyones food was ready and etc. When I went up to order I said I am going to make this easy for you, because I ordered Nachos and Cheese which I got 30 seconds later.

I saw tag team diners at Boma, (ie) the couple in front of me at a table for 2 - they were seated ordered drinks and were eating. Then after a while the lady left - and a teenage girl arrived and took her place - same colour red shirt, but a younger version of the Mom (I guess)

Then after a while she left, and the Mom reappeared with more food.

That is the cheapest and boldest thing I ever heard!

The weirdest thing for me always is seeing someone actually gnawing on that smoked (supposeded ;) )turkey leg thing. Though DN says that it would be perfect "meat with a handle Tia, I don't even need to ignore my fork".:rotfl:

While at DS last year during Star Wars weekend, there were no tables to be had near the ABC Commissary. When we walked outside with our tray of officialy overpriced Disney food, there was a family pulling slices of bologna (or baloney) out of an Oscar Meyer pack and making sandwiches out of the loaf of white bread they had brought along. If Disney doesn't permit outside food and beverages then maybe they should restrict seating to paying customers...

I am sorry but that one almost sent me over the edge.. I am in shock, I have heard it all.

I would have reported them.. I know I say I am not the Disney police, but that one might have made me into one.

You dragged me in.. I was going to try not to tell this story, but here it is:

Husband and I sitting outside of do you want to be a millionaire people watching and a Mom or it could have been an older sister and a younger girl and boy sat beside me.. Out of the backpack comes bread, mustard, luncheon meat and here is where it gets scary....the hugest, sharpest, pointiest knife I have ever seen... This was right after 9/11 and I could not figure for the life of me how she got that knife inside the park.. she made the sandwiches, spread the mustard on the bread with said weapon and cut the sandwiches and put the knife away..

I thought so much for security.

Not in a food court, but the strangest was the people on the monorail who after exiting MK opened their backpacks and pulled out egg salad sanwiches. Not an ice pack or anything just a warm, soggy egg salad sandwich in the late afternoon in the July heat---ewww:scared1:

They were on the "see how many rides you can get through before the salmonella makes you leave the park" tour.

I saw at least three people pulling those massive wheeled coolers through MGM last weekend, they could have had full meals in there.

My MIL is a nut. When we take the family ski trip every year she hauls a crockpot of chili to the lodge (through the snow, on the bus, ...). It is so embarassing. What is really embarrassing is that she actually brings an electric skillet to brown the meat in the hotel room and makes the whole hotel smell. One time she hauled an entire cooked ham from Texas to Colorado. I was not about to eat that or let my children eat it. One more thing my MIL does is when we go to restaurants she orders water and puts Crystal Light packets or cold brew ice tea bags in it. It's one thing to do it at a counter service and entirely different to do it at a sit down restaurant. :rotfl:

I realize this is a thread about Disney weirdos but I had to add my MIL stories. I have to just laugh now.

The cooler people just kill me.....Does Disney even have lockers big enough to stow them & if not, what do they do with it on rides??:confused3

About the Earl of Sandwich - I asked if I could buy just the bread one time and I was told "NO" you have to buy a sandwich! That bread is so yummy I almost did what the person mentioned earlier did and threw the chicken and cheese away to eat the bread all by itself.. almost, but not quite because my DH would have killed me to throw away perfectly good food!

I can hear him now... "Why didn't you wrap it up and bring it back to the room for me?" Ummmm, hours in the heat would be great for a sandwich!

OK, this didn't take place in a Disney restaurant or food court, but rather in a room at the Beach Club. My parents room to be exact. They had just arrived at the hotel (my DH, DD and I arrived a day earlier) and they called us to their room to eat. We thought we were just going to have some sort of snack, but my Mom proceeded to open a giant soft sided cooler. She had lugged all the fixin's for chef salad from home (NY) to Disney. She had ham, turkey, hard boiled eggs, lettuce, croutons, dressing, a loaf of french bread, a bottle of wine, wine glasses, a platter to put the salad on, (I'm not done yet!) tomatoes, cucumbers, salad tongs and grated cheese. Everything was neatly packed in Tupperware and still cold. Now, I knew they didn't do this to save money (they had ressies at Victoria and Alberts, Cali Grill, etc) so I asked why she went to all this trouble. She said her and my Dad just felt like having Chef Salad when they arrived.:confused3

Ah if only I could have seen my sister's MIL at WDW.. it would have been a gas! She used to go grocery shopping, and "taste" the grapes, nuts, candy, anything she could get her hands on.. she would go to the deli section and badger them into giving her "samples"... now all that might not be so bad if she had ever bought any of the stuff she was sampling, but she never did. SHe would sample sample sample, then buy the cheapest stuff she could find... and she was putting her hands into the candy/nut bins, and touching the grapes and stuff, ewww. My mother kept telling her to stop, that it was tacky, and stealing, but she either didn't get it, or didn't care.

I did see a family at the zoo pull out pre-cooked burgers, bread, and the fixings. My DH said that was what we should have done, and I looked at him like he'd grown an extra eye. Oh, yeah, that's exactly what I want, cold burgers that have been in my backpack for 2 or 3 hours. Yum!

Btw, to whoever suggested that the family might have been lactose intolerant, well isn't that the point of the Dole Whip, it isn't a dairy product, right? Not sure if I have the facts straight on that. If so, then it wasn't ice cream which they could have only a few bites of.

Have you ever been to a Wal Mart or Sam's Club on a weekend?

The people are like vultures at the sample tables!! The lines for samples are longer than the lines for check out. I think that people go there just for lunch. :scared1:

If I had to drag around a huge cooler with my lunch, dinner, snacks, and drinks in it to save a few bucks, I wouldn't even go on the vacation! I'm not sure if it was last August or the July before, but I remember seeing one family CARRYING their huge cooler around MK...it wasn't even the wheeled type. Talk about no fun.

My husband does this at sit down restaurants. He has to have a caffien free and sugar free drink and most restaurants don't have these. He does ask to see if they have a drink he can order, if not it's a glass of water with crystal light. Occasionally the servers are annoyed.

We also get very strange looks when we order nothing for our son to eat. He has aspergers and is a VERY picky eater. Many time at Disney TS, we take slim jims and applesause out of the backpack for him. Or we stop at a vendor cart and get a pretzel and take to the restaurant for him.
