Asthma/allergies and mold at WDW

I've always known I've had bad allergies to molds and have shots 2x a week, along with daily otc allergy meds. We were at WDW May 13 - 21 and I was fine, except when we were on the Three Cabelleros ride, which seemed musty, in the Mexican pavillion. After we rode it, my nasal passages started swelling, but it was no big deal. On our last day, DS11 wanted us to all ride it again and I figured, "It's a 4 minute ride, I'll survive." Well, halfway through it, I began coughing and couldn't stop coughing all the way to the airport, on the plane and all the way home. The next day, I felt awful. I was diagnosed with viral bronchitis with a secondary bacterial infection and put on anti-biotics. But, I continued having real breathing problems. After the third trip to the doctor's since we've been back, I've been diagnosed with asthma and am on Azmacort and Albuterol.

Has any else had problems like this...the sudden onset? The prolonged illness?

Thanks!

I am asthmatic and so is my oldest son. We both were diagnosed at around 2years old. DH was recently diagnosed at 36 years old. He caught a cold and it developed into bronchitis. After he got better, we noticed he still had trouble breathing, a lot of coughing and wheezing. He went back to his doctor and he was diagnosed asthmatic. Asthma can be triggered by various allergens.

I've learned to live with mine and there are years where I won't have any symptoms and other years where I just can't stop coughing or wheezing. This past year has been really bad though. If you know what your triggers are, take your medicine first as it will help.

DS has very severe asthma. He used to take asthmacort along with his proventil inhaler, but has now switched over to pulmicort instead. (He was have issues with swelling of his face with the asthmacort). Anyway, he is terribly allergic to mold, dust, pollen-you name it. Yes, the episodes come on him totally out of nowhere and very suddenly. He has also had prolonged recovery time/illness afterwards. I was hoping as he got older he would outgrow it a bit, but he has not. :sad1: I too have noticed the rather musty smell on the boat ride in Mexico and I don't have a problem with mold. We have not done that one in years and maybe it is a good thing. I hope things improve for you. :)
