What places are good employers?

Kohl's, Target? Any other major companies out there that are good to work for?

Where do you work? Are you happy there or not? If not, why?

Thanks for any suggestions.

I applied at Kohl's today.

Hi, I am also looking for a part-time job. I usually work a part-time job during the holidays. I enjoyed working at JCPenney's. Very easy work as a sales associate. :thumbsup2
Kohl's just opened a store here and I am going tomorrow to apply along with JCPenney's.
Good luck with the job search:wizard:

Have you considered being a "consultant" for anyone? I sell for aTemptations Parties (adult novelties -- div of Adam & Eve). They are great because there are no sales quotas to get your commission and you make your own hours!! If you don't want to work a certain weekend, just don't schedule any parties. I researched alot of home-party businesses before I decided on TP and no one compared. The commission is GREAT, no quotas, no meetings, and the best support team from all of the other consultants. If you want more info, PM me!

chick filla pays $10 for casher and only 4 hours a day and you can work 1 day a week/month if need be:woohoo:

Check your local YMCA. There are tons of different part-time opportunities at most YMCA's and you can get a huge discount on programs and membership for your family.

What about Wal-mart? I started last Sept just to earn money to go to DW. I have a full time job and they were really good with working with the hours. We are doing lots of overtime at the office, so I had to quit last week, but I got all my money for the trip. Worked for me.

Thanks for all these great ideas! I am in need of a part time as well, and had not thought of some of these options before! :)

If you have kids GAP Kids/Baby GAP. Great discount and very flexible with the hours

DD works at Kohls and hates it! I work at Babies R Us and it's not too bad, but the pay is not great.

Not all Chick Fil A pay that much. The owners set there pay rates and the one I worked out was not that great with pay. I was a shift leader (over cashiers) and I made 8.50 so I know in this one store cashiers made anywhere from min. wage to 7.50.

Have you thought about working as an independant contractor from home? There are many different companies you can work for doing inbound and outbound call center type calls if interested. That's what I do and it's so nice to set my own hours and make a decent amount - I just started one in the last month or so and I've made over $700 which is a nice little extra - especially not having to take daycare money out of it...

I put an application in at Target last year. All I wanted was a part time cashiers position, nothing more. They called me in for 3 interviews. They tried to talk me into being a front end supervisor full time! After I told them no, they sent me a letter telling me that I was "over qualified" for the position that I was applying for but they would keep my app.!:confused3 They still had the help wanted sign up too :confused3

do you have any more info about this type of work? Where would one find out legitimate companies that are hiring for this? I would love to work form home.

DD works at Kohls and hates it!

I had a friend who worked at Kohls and loved it, but her husband made her quit. She saw so many wonderful deals, especially after she added her employee discount to the sales prices, that she usually spent more than she made.

I work independently from home and love my job. Much like an insurance salesman I have residual income, so even the weeks that I am away at Disney World, I make money!! :) I make my own hours and work when I want to. I have plans to work about 1-2 hours per day when my last child goes to Kindergarten in the fall. At those hours I should bring in about $1000-$2000 within the first month. It will only go up from there. Sometimes it is hard when you work from home because you have to discipline yourself TO work! Sometimes I think it would be easier if I would just show up for a 9-5 job, but I wouldn't make nearly as much and I don't have the time to do that. I like having the chance to choose when I work. PM me if you want more info. Debi

I'm just starting to look for a part-time job also. I don't want more than 4 hours a day, 20 hours a week. If I could make $10 an hour i'd be fine. I just want to money for a seperate vacation fund. I don't even know where to begin.

yeah that's one of the only good things (or bad depending on how you look at it;) ) of her job! She has come home with a lot of really cute outfits for nexct to nothing!

She's usually a cashier....many times she has been cashiering alone and has to call person after person to cover her so she can take a break, the customers are unbelievably rude to her (true with any retail I suppose) and just the other day she was gathering apparel from the service area returns and the service area associate physically shoved her and said "get out of my way"  I almost hit he roof when I heard that! I never would support her walking off a job, but if she had that day I would have supported her all the way.
