3 adults one child and a 2 year old (no charge)...cost for DDP $875....cost for food purchased on DDP $1329....Savings $454!!! Now, if we did not have the DDP, we would not have ordered an app each person at each meal, nor would we have ordered desert....but still...I feel like it saved me at least a little even taking those items off...and we did not have to tell our 14 year old..."no you cannot have the $30 meal" at Maya...she ordered what she wanted without worry of the cost. This is the first time we have gone to WDW and used the plan, but it will NOT be the last....that is as long as they do not do away with the gratutity...then it will not be such a great deal....let's all keep our finger crossed.

oh yeah, I forgot to say that at all of our TS meals we always ordered our 2 year old either a milk or a soda and they never charged us...not one time!! That was so nice...so I guess we actually saved even more than I previously mentioned....I love the DDP!!

we are going in Dec and I still haven't decided on the DDP yet. one day i'm sure i want to the next day i wonder if we really will use it all? oh well i still have time to decide

I would recommend it...at first we did not think it would be good....this is why we have never used it....the last trip we took without it, we spent over $1200 on food/snacks for 10 days and that was eating mostly CS meals without app & desserts (5 people total)...this time we only spent $875 for DDP and did not have to worry about the cost of each meal...so relaxing!! Plus, we were able to try some of those things that we might not have otherwise ordered...such as the yummy desserts...well worth it if for no other reason than not having to worry about how much to budget for food...give it a try, I do not think you will be disappointed.

I was on the fence for months my last trip, I loved having the ts meals everyday and not having to worry about money having it paid in advance is worth it. I'm planiing on doing it again this year

Just a quick question. Do they total the the entire bill with the tax and the tip on the receipt? I want to keep track as well, mainly so I can prove to DH that I was right in getting the DDP:lmao: . But I thought I had read somewhere that the receipts show zero so I was struggling with how I would keep track.

This is one of the things that convinced me to do a pkg. #1, I knew I wanted to be onsite this time, as w/ a 2y old, she may need to nap in the room, if she wont settle down for at least an hour in her stroller.

#2 we would never have done a daily TS w/ out the plan (a real treat) we would have done a TS at something like a Cracker Barrell or Bob Evans before check in, 3 TS at most durring our stay (in park or resort) and one on the way home (Chillis, Fridays etc... ) that's our usual, as we dont have a problem with eating CS, its just a real luxury to have the TS every evening:cloud9:

#3 At the 3 places we chose that aren't buffet or fam style, we can order what we want. I dont have to worry about the prices. We almost NEVER do this at home:confused3
Not to mention having 2 aps and 2 desserts, insead of choosing one or the other AND sharing it? A girl could get really spoiled this way (and so could her guy) So what if its more food than we are used to and we don't clean our plates:confused3

Things may have changed since our trip last year, but what happened then was we were brought the tab that showed the totals. We gave the server the room card to deduct the DDP credits and the receipt brought back to us showed zero. I just wrote down what the total was on the receipt that showed zero.

I was just there with my older dd and they show you the tab amount. and it saves so much!!
I have done the dining plan twice and paid for it both times, Now i am doing free dining and it worth it , even if you pay for it!

Once they deduct the credits and give you the final receipt, it just shows all zeros. I got into the habit of either writing down the totals from the first receipt they give you at the end of the meal, or asking for the itemized receipt (with the $$ shown) back. No problem at all.

This is exactly the way it works now also...I just remembered to write down my total on my copy and figured everything when we returned home.

I'm curious about this myself:goodvibes Ill have to keep track of what I'm spending (as if it were cash when its actually credits):surfweb:

I think this helps you decide for future trips if it was worth using the DDP or not...I know it was certainly worth it for my family...even though we would not always have ordered an app and dessert each....it was fun when everyone got a different app and desert and we all shared....we all got to taste something we might not have otherwise tried.

I love the DDP. It is very nice not having to look at the price of the dinners before my "adult children" order. It was very relaxing for me TO RELAX. It is nice to be able to sit down and enjoy a meal. We don't order desserts and apps for everyone at every meal, but nice choice if everyone wanted. It does require some planning, and does take up some of the park time but The DDP had my family from the beginning.

I have a feeling Id do much better w/ my budget to have seasonal passes purchased w AAA discount, and stay at a HOJOs I stayed at in '01. It inc a fridge in room, scheduled trans to WDW, SW, USF, and Wet and Wild, and a daily breakfast buffet. I paid 40 per night, 6y ago.Id do it again in a second, but I think I am safer being onsite this time, with a bus 20 min away, not scheduled;) And I cant wait to try the DDP (we'll be so spoiled:laughing: )

I wondered why they changed that receipt & now give you one with all zeros. Not bad at TS to write stuff down, but at CS it was a little harder. If my calculations were correct, we paid $546 for the dinning plan-I think we spent $830?! Something close to that. True, it gave us a chance to try some things we might not have. Dh & I were just discussing which things we thought were good enough that we would pay OOP for & which ones were just ok. I also would never get dessert with the CS meals either-so that all adds up. OK, maybe one dessert CS. Peanutbutter brownie mouse thingy at Pecos Bill YUMMY!!!!
