My parents are staying at POFQ and my family is staying at POR. They couldn't get tickets to POR. What would be the best place for each of us to stay that we can at least walk to each other's place. Should we be closer to the pool? or by the river? Also...how do we get around POR to the Boardwalk specifically? And, can't we take a boat to MK? Need to know soon, because we leave on Sunday.

Thanks

To get to the Boardwalk from POR you will have to take the ferry to DTD and then from there take a bus to the Boardwalk. There is no boat that takes you to the MK, just to DTD. To get to MK, you will have to take a bus that will take you directly there. As for where to stay, from what I hear the AB section is closer to POFQ than Magnolia Bend, but don't quote me because we are staying there for the first time ourselves in June.

Can you rent a bike to get from resort to resort? and any idea of how much?

Yes you can rent bikes and ride them between resorts. Sorry I don't know the cost. As for room location (Mansions/AB) the closest might be Oak Manner(?) in the mansions section. Just ask for a building that is closest to POFQ. You will still have a walk but it's nothing more than a few minutes, ~5. As for room location, that all depends on your preference. We aren't too picky, and usually just request a room in AB closest to a bus stop.

Hi Sheila - Both resorts you and your family are booked in are nice facilities so that is one thing you need not worry about. I know this is the last minute as you are leaving Sunday, but before you leave, call Central Resevations to see if you get everyone booked in the same hotel. If, not, you could also try to accomplish this when you get here, as accommodation needs are always changing, and may change to your favor.

Your question as to river or pool view would definitely be to your preference. I prefer the river view as it is so quiet and peaceful. Not that the pool view is loud, but you may hear more of the comings and goings of other guests due to the pool .

There is bus transportation to and from and between all hotels, theme parks, Downtown Disney and the water parks. This is not a direct service, stops will be made along the way. The two hotels you mentioned are not far from one another, but to my memory, are not within what I would call walking distance.

Hope I have helped you in some small way to enjoy the "magic". Have a wonderful time. If you like, you may write on your return to tell me of the wonderful time you had at the Mouse. Have a safe trip.

I looked at the map on www.allearsnet.com, and here's how it looks to me: if you request Parterre Place in the mansions section of POR, and building #7 in POFQ, you will be only a short walking distance between each other. You can definitely walk between the 2 resorts, but those buildings are the closest.

I'm not sure about your question concerning the boardwalk. Are you referring to the Boardwalk resort? If so, that would require a bus ride(s).

There isn't a boat to the MK, only buses. There is a boat that takes you to Downtown Disney.

Hope this helps! :)

there is a boat that runs from pofq and por just take the boat to meet up with the faimly or you can walk its not a bad walk.:) the last option is the buses the buses normaly load at fofq first and then pick up at por just ask the bus driver if he is going to por before the park and hitch a ride

Like binky said, Parterre Place (in the mansions section) at POR and Building 7 at POFQ are the two closest points. I can't imagine renting bikes would be a decent transportation option, as you pay by the hour ... I just can't see paying for them all day.

Did you pay extra per night for a water view room? If not, then you won't be right next to a pool or the river unless you just happen to get lucky. Those rooms cost an extra $15-$26 per night.
Also...how do we get around POR
You walk around POR itself.
to the Boardwalk specifically?
There is no such thing as Disney transportation directly from one resort to another. Unless you take a taxi, you'll have to take a bus from POR to a theme park or Downtown Disney, and then from there a bus to Boardwalk. This can be a slow process ... any time a transfer is involved, I advise people to figure it will take a good hour. Yes, there is a boat from POR (and POFQ) to DTD, but the bus is quicker. Also, the boat doesn't run in bad weather such as rain.
And, can't we take a boat to MK?
Nope, sorry. The boat from POR goes only ro POFQ and DTD. The only resorts with direct boat service to MK are Fort Wilderness, Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian and Grand Floridian.

HAVE FUN!
