Any LEGAL ways to visit another pool?

Hi all,
I know this is a hot topic, but here's our situation. We don't ALL want to go to another pool, but we're a grand gathering group and we're split between 2 resorts. Most of my immediate family is staying at Riverside and most of the other family is staying at the Polynesian. Just ONE grandma (staying with us) wants to go hang with her grandchildren at the Polynesian pool occassionally. We're looking for a legal way to do this (if there is one) so grandma doesn't get kicked out of the pool! The family considered putting her on their room reservation and paying the $25 per night for an extra adult, but can't b/c they already have 2 adults and 3 children in the room and can't add an extra adult (over capacity). Is Grandma just out of luck??? She'll see the grandkids at the park, of course, but should we tell her she just can't hang out at the pool with them? Any advice would be great.
Like I said, I know it's a hot topic, and I know it's frowned upon, but we aren't trying to get around it, just wondering if there's ANY legal options anyone is aware of...

The family that's staying there can ask guest services if they can have a guest (Grandma) join them at the pool for the day. Depending on capacity they will then provide an answer (and I assume some kind of wristband etc to allow for it).

The true problem isn't the odd invited and cleared with management guest of a resort guest...it't the people who go without any reason to be there but the pool.

If however it's a packed house it may be a problem but it sure couldn't hurt to ask. (And afterall Grandma's not likely to be taking too many trips down the volcano or anything is she?)

I would just call the Polynesian resort directly and explain the situation. Ask what grandma needs to do in order to swim with the others at the Poly. I would hope that this is something that they will allow because there are members of her party actually staying there.

If not, in my opinion, they seriously need to rethink their policy.

Thanks...that's great advice. We called the Polynesian and they gave us the impression that there were armed guards at the pool and they would shoot, on sight, anyone without a room key. So Grandma doesn't want to chance it without permission. But maybe once we get down there and ask, it'll all work out...we're going in mid-September so maybe it won't be capacity either.

You are right, September will be less busy they maybe less militant. If she is with a group of adults that has a room key...she should be A-OK.

I hope G-ma has a great time at the pool and the whole famioy has a great vacation!

They are good about stuff like this and yes.. I have had visitors come swim and dine with me for a day.

I'm sure when you get down there and explain in person at the front desk, the management will try to do something. It's good you're trying to be honest and straight forward about it. Far too many people just do what they want to do, damn the rules and anybody else. I have always said that if everybody would take the effort to think about others around them and realise that they're on vacation too, WDW would be more of a pleasant experience for everyone. I'm glad to see Disney get a little tougher on the pool hopping, but the management should be able to make small exceptions in cases like yours. I doubt your Grandma will take up much room and probably just wants to sit and watch her grandchildren have some fun. See what the front desk will do for you in person, don't bother with a phone call, it's too easy to just quote policy over the phone. When you deal with face to face, sometimes you get better results. Good luck and enjoy your trip.

The only legal way to pool hop (at some, but not all the pools) is to be a DVC member.

I was going to say about the same thing. Shell out about $20K and buy into DVC. Tell Grandma that she can pool hop as soon as she purchases her DVC points at SSR or AKV.
