BC, why the bad reviews, and is it worse than YC?

I have read a few bad reviews about the BC, mostly from other travel websites citing bad service, bad mousekeeping, and run-down rooms. The reviews claim that the front desk and bell service cast members are rude, and mousekeeping is inefficient. Also, the rooms are dirty and in desperate need of a refurbishment. Is the BC really that bad? The reviews for the YC have mostly been positive. I thought these two resorts were identical except for the theme. I'm leaning towards booking at the BC right now, but if the rooms and service are really as bad as some of these reviews have made it seem, then I may have to consider a different resort.

Hi ...
I've never had a bad stay at the BC! It is our fav resort. I find the customer service outstanding, mousekeeping is great! Our room was clean and tidy everyday. If we requested anything it was sent our room right away. I love the look and feel of the BC and can't wait to return in the fall.

We haven't stayed there but we like to visit and have dinner there. I have never had a bad impression of the resort.

If you are worried, just book the YC its pretty much the same except instead of green and pink (which i think is kind of ugly) in the rooms it's blue and white. The only other difference is that almost all the rooms at the YC have full balconies and only something like half of the BC rooms do.

Were the reviews of the Beach Club resort or Beach Club Villas, there have been a few reviews lately of the villa rooms looking a little worn.

The reviews were for the Beach Club Resort, and not the villas. The YC is sold out for the time that we are going, so the BC is my only option between the two. I'm glad to hear some positive reviews of the resort.

Not to worry!! the BC is wonderful, just as is the YC.. We LOVE 'em BOTH!!! Never had a bad stay there (stayed twice and once in YC).

I found the desk staff at the BC less than helpful. They did not give any type of direction as how to find the elevator from the desk, or where the room was located in once we got off the elevator. No info was give on the pool, hours etc. The main laundry facility was closed, of the two dryers one didn't work and the other you had to keep shut with your foot. Again the desk was disinterested in helping. Since this was a once in a lifetime stay for us I found the BC lacking in those areas. I have always found the staff at the values most friendly and helpful. Go figure.:sad1:

The only time we had trouble at BC was back in 2004. We had a couple stays back then with not so great housekeeping, and the rooms weren't in the best shape.

However, we have stayed there again (the last stay just a couple weeks ago) and there has been a complete turnaround since that time. Our room was spotless and in great condition, the front desk was great, housekeeping was great, and we've had no problems.

I was thinking the exact same thing......The Villas have had a few bumps in the road, but I've never heard a bad thing about the BC itself. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and bet that the people reviewing on the travel sites may have been mistaken about which Beach Club they were reveiwing......:upsidedow

Our stay @ villas in Oct was a mixed bag

great studio, w/view of Illuminations; very well kempt room and the pool was very enjoyable

vs

roach infestation:eek: that took overnight until the next afternoon for exterminators to appear; despite repeated calls to mgr & stopping @ the desk I never did get to talk to him. Although the executive offices were VERY interested in the lack of customer service; said they would deal with the manager.

I don't blame the bugs on the hotel (it's FL -- full of bugs, all it takes is one guest to leave a balcony door open & they can get a foothold); but i do think Motel6 would've handled the situation better. The only way I got anything accomplished was to finally pounce on bell services (they had nowhere to hide lol) and a trainee was summoned to deal with me.:confused3

we were on a pre-buy recon mission; no add-ons that week:rolleyes1 .

We had a great stay at BC. Booked two std. rooms (connecting) and we were able to occupy one at 10 am. We were on the ground floor in a beautiful courtyard. Loved the patio area outside the rooms.

Found the CM's very polite and helpful. We saw a "younger" gentleman dressed in a suit in the lobby many times throughout our stay, who seemed to just be there to make sure guests were taken care of. Not sure what his position was, but if he saw anyone standing around looking confused (like I did) he asked if you had any questions or if he could be of any help. I was really impressed.

Housekeeping did a great job on our rooms. They were always cleaned by the time we returned early afternoons to hit SAB, which is the best pool on property. There is also a laundry located at the quiet pool. I spent a very relaxing morning reading a book by the pool while waiting for our laundry.

The Marketplace is conveniently located in the resort and has a really good selection of items. We stopped by each day for drink refills and breakfast stuff.

The close proximity to Epcot can't be beat. Most of our ADR's were there and it is just a short walk from BC.

I don't think you will be disappointed. Have a great trip! :)
