Trying to surprise by DH, HELP!

I recently upgraded our Sept stay from CBR to Poly, only I didn't tell my DH because I want it to be a surprise. He has been bugging me ever since we booked that he wanted to stay at Poly. I keep playing him off, telling him we should save our money etc... when really I upgraded like two days after booking!!!!! (it's been KILLING me not share the anticipation with him!)
Here is my problem. We are going to take ME from the airport to the hotel but I didnt want to tell him we upgraded hotels until the bus was pulling up to the Poly and he would be all confused, then I would spring it on him. But will I be able to get us on a ME bus without him knowing where it is going? I've only done ME once, so I don't remember if they annouce when you board where it is going etc... any suggestions/ideas?

I love surprises so I am rooting for you on this one! I think it may be hard to pull off with the ME....when we went in January...the luggage tags they sent had AKL in bold letters so the handlers knew to send it to Animal Kindom Lodge...you would have to add your POLY tags right at the airport which may draw attention to your secret...if you manage to keep that a surprise, then there is the LINE for the ME...we had to enter the line for AKL/POP/CSR so unless CBR is enroute with the Poly people, you may loose out on the secret then too.....not to rain on the parade but if you pull it off, you are good!

How about taking a Towncar to the resort? You can make all the arrangements prior to being picked up with the company. It will cost you around $100.00 rountrip but you will also get to the resort faster than using the ME

Why don't you have a friend of yours call the morning of your trip and pretend to be from Disney, saying that they are "upgraded" you to the other hotel!

Thanks for the tips and great ideas, keep em' coming! I hoping to take advanatage of my DH's inability to pay attention to detail. He would likely not notice the hotel name on the luggage tags, and I'm hoping that I could get to the ME line and find out where the Poly bus is without him really paying attention to where we were going. Maybe I could send him to get me a coffee or something while I go 'see where we get our bus'... but the towncar idea is a nice one too!

We have used Tiffany Towncar in the past... We had exceptional service. It's nice walking down the stairs, having your driver there standing holding up your name. You identify yourself to the driver and they take over... They get your luggage and lead you to their towncar... and off you go. The price also includes a stop at a grocery store if you want... nice to pick up some cheap water/soda/snacks.

Once you check in for ME, there are different lines for the resorts. Some of them are combined - it would be perfect if your 2 resorts were the same bus! Maybe you could call and ask? I hope it works out for you - sounds like a great surprise!

Ooh, I just thought of something else. What if you told DH that you made reservations for lunch/dinner at the Poly and that's why you're going to go right there! Then once you get there, you can proceed to the check-in desk - much to his surpirse and delight!

I like the previous poster's idea. Or you could keep him busy so he can't notice that you're getting on the "wrong" bus heading towards the Poly. Act like you are all mad because you got on the wrong bus but then spring the surprise on him when you actually get to the Poly.

the men I know don't pay alot of attention to the little details that we as women notice.

so I think you can do it with no problem.

the only problem I see is he might be telling the bus driver that the he is going the wrong way.....

but doing what dsnymomof4 suggest would work too.

GREAT idea and it might actually work! I started setting the stage last night to try this idea. I mentioned to DH about having lunch at the Poly since we land at 930am and likely our room won't be ready at CBR (where he thinks we are staying) and he totally went for it!! Lets hope it works!Thanks!

If the "lunch at the Poly" idea dosen't fly, try calling Disney Reservations and telling them what you are trying to do. Maybe they can work something out when you check in for ME. I remember CM's escorting a family from the airport desk to a bus. Not sure why, but maybe they could put some sort of a note in your ressie as to what you are doing and hepl this magical surprise happen.

You could always get your own bags and take them to ME, that way they don't have the resort name on the tag. You will be responsible for your bags but still. We will have to do this since we are arriving late. I don't want to wait for my luggage. I'll just get it myself and put it under the bus. I don't mind taking it to the room.

I don't mind tipping, I know they can get some really stressed people coming their way. I just don't want to get to the resort at Midnight and have to be woken up at 3am for my bags. With contacts, meds etc. we really need them in the morning also so I'll just get them off the baggage claim myself and put them on the bus. I'll still tip since they are driving me. Then I'll just take them to the room myself. I know they have the cart at the Values, not sure at the mods. Everything is on wheels so it shouldn't be hard. That way I can have everything on my schedule not thiers.

When it comes to this stuff we are clueless . If you just go about it matter of factly, but make sure you hide the obvious stuff like when the ME tags arrive and you attach them to the luggage, you can pull it off.
Try handling every detail, especially at the airport, when asked which resort by the ME people, see if you can have him distracted, or better yet send him to buy something or even better, get some one to call his cell phone !
When my wife surprises me, which is often, she always manages to distract me by giving me something inane to do. I fall for it every time !

Heehee I have the same "problem"

I upgraded us from All Star Sports to Poly w/o hubby knowing it. It's been torture not telling him.
We're probably going to just take a cab from the airport but still I'm not sure how to tell the driver w/o DH knowing what's up.

I think the idea of having lunch at the Poly is perfect. If he wonders why you are going there so early for lunch tell him that you wanted to look around the resort before lunch so maybe next time you will stay there.
