Dumbest ?? ever re: concierge

I promise I did try the search feature first, but I still didn't find my answer. How is concierge different from front desk/lobby desk services? Is concierge something additional you have to pay for? The only assisitance I would be looking for during my stay at ASM would be to show "someone" a couple of my ADRs for early breakfasts and have them tell me how early I need to get a bus in that direction and which bus to take etc.
What does concierge do that wouldn't be offered from the front desk CMs?

I've only stayed concierge once (and loved it, by the way!)..but basically, you get pre-planning assistance on ADRs and other requests, and when you are there, access to a lounge which serves food and beverage several times a day. (no lunch offerings but enough food for breakfast and the dinner hour that would keep some people's stomachs satisfied...plus a dessert bar later on with cordials).
The other perk is the special attention some (should be all) CMS give you. Ought to, for all that extra money...

Thanks, I get it now. I thought concierge was just another services desk. The front desk will be all I will need for my trip as far as assistance.

Actually Disney has changed their terms

What was formally concierge is now known as Club Level - this level is reflected in the price of your room and includes the services listed above (planning, snacks, assistance, etc.)

Disney now uses what is called Lobby Concierge and they do exactly what you are looking for. Your questions could be answered behind either. The basic concept behind Lobby Concierge is that if you have a basic question, need ticket help or general assistance you shouldn't have to wait behind people that are checking in and could be a long time with the CMs

Not sure this is right. It is still called "concierge" on the Disney web site and by Disney personnel (the itinerary planners refer to themselves as Walt Disney World Concierge Itinerary Planners).

It depends on what marketing information you look at. In some places, it's referred to as club level, but hasn't been updated everywhere. Considering what's offered at Disney, compared to other resorts who also have "concierge", calling it club level is actually a better description.

I think many hotels use the word "club" to describe their concierge area these days. At least that is what we've found in our travels.

I'll have to go through my materials from my trip to the YC concierge from two weeks ago - I don't recall seeing references to "club level." Not sure I agree that club level is a "better description", but the comment was that Dinsey has "changed their terms", which I question.

Considering, they can't do alot of the things that seem to be industry standard at other non-Disney hotels, I do think that club level is more appropriate. Basically, it's convenience with a lounge. They can't guarantee dining reservations, "sold out" tickets aren't set aside, room amenities are the same, sometimes even view can't be guaranteed. Over on the allears site, there is a Disney press release from I'd say at least a year ago. In it, there's a reference made to "club-level resort accomodations". I think the timing was right about the same as the change in terminology from "guest services" to "lobby concierge". Perhaps an effort to curb any confusion....

This is different than the signs that read "Lobby Concierge" which are for everyones use

Also, conceirge or club (whichever) is only available at Deluxe resorts, not Value or Moderates.

But for what you are looking for, anyone at your resort would be able to direct you!

It does seem that they are adding the "Club" designation more and more. When we were at the Poly Concierge, I don't remember it being referred to anything but Concierge, but there was the King Kamehameha(sp?) Suite somewhere, perhaps in the same building. Now I keep hearing that the Concierge level is the "King Kamehameha Club Concierge".
