Leaving "leftovers" for Mousekeeping?

I plan on leaving standard Mousekeeping tips each day in cute little envelopes or baggies. But, when we leave on check-out day I was wondering if Mousekeeping could keep some of our "leftovers". By that - I mean if we fill up the fridge and have a few sodas or bottle waters left, can they have it? I don't plan on taking this back on the plane and carrying it home, so it would be a shame to just throw it away. I could leave a note telling them that they are welcome to it so that the mgmt doesn't think they have stolen anything. Thanks DIS for your input! :goodvibes

That is what I've always done. Many, many years ago a mousekeeper told me she would be allowed to have them if she had a note so I always do that as you suggested.

Of course, just unopened things like you mentioned. I clean out the fridge....they don't need one more job to do.

I always do this and I always leave a note. I even asked mousekeeping if they wanted the leftover chocolate mickey head cake (there was 1/2 of the cake left) and she said yes, as long as we left the note. Now I just say they are welcome to all leftovers in the fridge and on the counter.

i leave unopened beer ,cooler drinks..and water..never leave a tip for them you donnt know who gets it..we always gwet a small cooler for food and just leave the unopened stuff for them..but not food..we throw that out..

We used to stay in a suite offsite. It had a kitchenette and we stocked it up as soon as we arrived. We had paper plates, paper towels, plastic utensils, left over pop tarts, crackers, etc. We asked the front desk if it was okay to leave the "leftovers" and they said absolutely. We just left our maid a note saying it was there.

When we stayed at the CBR last year, I left some of these same type items for our mousekeeper.

You know.. I was just there and I saw housekeeping carts full of coke, sprite chips etc... they get whats left over.. I have no idea if a note is left or not... but anyways.. last year in December when we were there.. the bellman was more than thrilled that we gave the leftovers to him.. he said housekeeping usually always gets it.. so they are thrilled to put it the breakroom for the bellmen anyday.. and you know they deserve stuff too.. so we gladly shared with them.

We always leave unopened food and drinks for the maids, but food that is open or needs refrigeration we bag it up and toss it. They don't have anywhere to put this kind of thing all day while they are cleaning.

We used out leftover snack credits and got treats for the guys at the luggage place at POP.

Thanks everyone!! I will definitely do both - leave some for Mousekeeping and some for the bellmen who come to get my luggage for DME!!

Last September we bought too many souvenirs and ended up leaving a bunch of stuff behind. Sunscreen, cookies, chips, water, shampoo.. all kinds of stuff. I wasn't sure what they' do with it, but we left a note saying that it was ok to take anything they wanted. I guess that was the right thing to do!

I'm happy to know that it doesn't always all go in the garbage as most of the stuff we left was unopened.

I don't have to worry about it at WDW - I just drive a half hour and can load up the car with anything extra. But like I was just at a hotel in Paris, and I bought bubbly water by accident. So I left that, along with a couple of other small things I didn't want to take with me (and 5 Euros). Hopefully she can use whatever I left!
