Hello Everyone,
First post here....

I'm taking the family to Disney next month for the first time.
We are staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort.

I would like to work out early in the AM if possible.
I see the CBR does not have a fitness center.

Would anyone know which resort, with a fitness center, is closest and can I use it?

It looks like the cost is $12, correct?
Is there a discount for the week?

Thank you all so much for all the information I have learned here recently.

Joe

I think there is a discount on the week.

closest would be BW or OKW - BW is a little closer.

but you might consider changing to CSR - it has a gym and is a moderate. since you would have a gym in your resort there is no extra charge to use it.

you can get a length of stay pass .its $25,00 i do it all the time..you can use any gym at disney..i use boardwalk.or animal kingdom..they all have the same equipmennt..its cybex ,,and some free weights, tread mills and eliptical..as well as bikes..they are smaller gyms nice and cozy,,its all you need..they have showers personal soap and shampos,,its alll there

Do you like to walk, jog or run? There is a 1.4 mile promenade around the lake at the CBR. Our friends run marathons and always have to run at least 7 or 8 miles every morning. They ran on the promenade every morning.

I think you will thoroughly enjoy your stay at the CBR. We were there for 10 days in June, 2006. Our next stay at the CBR is in just 53 days!

Have a fun trip! Lisa

Probably the closest options would be in the BW area. You could always go on All Ears or this website to look for photos of the gym facilities to see which one suits you best.

Thank you all so much. Everyone is so helpful here.
I will probably sign up for the week. I will most likely just try to get in early and do some weight lifting to maintain. Hopefully, they have some early hours. I think I should burn enough calories walking around the parks, so I probably won't be doing much running (in the gym at least) Our 6 and 3 year old little ones will keep us pretty busy....lol

Looking so forward to this trip...9 days, 8 nights...can't wait!

Thank you all again.

:thumbsup2

$25 is a bargain! My favorite so far is the SS fitness center, but I'm biased since that used to be my local "club" (I was a member for over a year when it was the DI).

Hi all,
Need advice please....
I'm most likely going to work out at the BW fitness center. It looks like they open at 6 or 6:30am. I'd love to get there first thing in the morning (while kids are sleeping) to give us more time at the parks. I'm staying at CBR and from what I've read you cannot walk/jog to BW. Do the buses run at 6am?
How would I get to BW at 6am if no buses?
Thanks again for all your help.
Joe

I am not sure as far as what time the buses begin. BUT, when they do, you could get from the resort to MGM and then walk over to the BW (that should be your quickest way of getting there). It would probably depend if there is an early morning that day at MGM, I don't follow the bus times though.

OR you can get a bus to the earliest park and then a bus to the BW.

there is a sidewalk - it goes across the street (at the rescue/fire station) - and in front of the gas station.

this sidewalk will lead you to the BW.

you can either go in the lobby and take the elevator down to the first floor.

or take the steps going to bw - then turn left (might have to walk around the grass) - you see an arcade on your right and restrooms on your left.

open the first door pass the arcade, the gym is on your right.

I am going to have to check that out (I didn't know there was a sidewalk past Hess to CBR!)

Thanks for the replies.
Am I allowed to walk there? I read someone else on here that the guards will turn you around and make you take a bus?

If I was to walk or jog there....about how far is it?

Thanks again.
Joe

:)

that is a long corner from firestation to gas station.

maybe the total will be around a mile might be more - but not alot more.

Yea - I have got to remember to take pictures of that sidewalk - lots of people don't believe it is there.

I don't know if I would - but some people were walking on it one day....

Resort to resort bussing is terribly inefficient. You would have to transfer at one of the hubs (one of the parks or DTD). As the previous poster said, you could bus over to MGM and walk to the BW, but not at 6:00 or 6:30. The buses generally start running about an hour before the park opens. Some one can correct me if I am wrong on this, because I do recall reading that buses run earlier to get people to the early ADR's. In any event, even if you catch a bus at 7:00, with the walk, the earliest you could hope to be at the gym would be 7:30.

Hopefully this link will work perfectly --- it should be a satellite image of the key intersection between CBR and the Boardwalk area.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&q=K...493&spn=0.002186,0.003616&t=k&om=0&iwloc=addr

If the link worked correctly, on the right you'll see the roofs of the CBR, the parking lots, and then a strip of greenery that needs to be crossed. Once you've crossed that greenery, you are at a stoplight with crosswalk. From there you can follow sidewalks all the way to the Boardwalk.

Other than the bit crossing the greenery, it's an easy 15 minute or so walk. Good warm up jog in the morning. And vastly easier than trying to take Disney transportation.

Wow...
salmoneous you are awesome. :thumbsup2
Thanks so much.
Sounds like a plan.

Next time I need to make sure my wife has us stay in a resort with a gym to avoid all this. LOL
