What is the best time to call and order a cake? I just picked up the phone to call and realized that it is 6pm on a Friday night (dinenr rush time). I hung right up:confused3

I would try to call around 10:30 am before lunch rush or maybe 2-3 pm between lunch & dinner rush.:confused3

My family is throwing my dad a suprise party for his 50th bday. He loves disney and diving. I looked at the info provided and it seems you can only buy up to a 10" cake... we need something much larger (like 30+ ppl). We wanted to get it from a grocry store but have the disney design.

I know non disney places cant do disney designs, but can I just purchase the solid white chocolate design from the 10" cake? And can they do any design or only a set few?

Thanks in advance!

Hello -
I'm not sure where you are staying, but it can't hurt to call and inquire about a bigger cake. Sounds like you will be doing a Magical Gathering with that number of people. They may have something bigger available.

No, I don't think they will do that. I know Grand Floridian is really tight on their rules. They wont deliever, and require you to dine in their hotel, or be staying there. This was told to me by 3 different bakery people when I called them. You can order larger cakes than a 10 inch from grand floridian, and maybe have one of your meals there, so it will be served to you guys they will bring it to any Grand Floridian Dining Venue. I will say it will not be cheap in the least as the 10inch cakes at Grand Floridian start at 50-60 dollars then around 25+ for each decoration they do on the cake. This was the info given to me when I called them for our honeymoon this past Feb. You might want to call them to see what thye can do for you as far as a larger cake, and what they will charge for it. This will also allow you to see if it's in your budget (providing you are on one, or not).

I'm pretty sure you should be able to get a cake larger than 10" after all they do wedding and event cakes that would be larger. Someone here on this thread was able to get a sheet cake (might have been 1/2 sheet, I can't recall). I have no idea what something like that would cost though.

Your best bet would be to narrow it down to two or three choices of bakeries and call them to see what they can and can't do for you.

GF makes beautiful cakes if you're staying there or dining there. MK bakery seems to be easy to work with and since there are several restaurants in the park to choose from it might be convenient. I'm not sure what options would be for something larger though, it's possible they're a little more limited on size due to being in a park, I don't know. Boardwalk Bakery would be another good choice if you're staying in the area or dining at a nearby restaurant. I've seen some beautiful cakes from WL's bakery as well.

Will the GF Bakery put a decoration on a cake if I provide it? I saw a really cute Mickey/Minnie lenox decoration and would like it since we are celebrating our 20th anniverary. Thanks for your help.

Just thought I would share some pics of a "mickey" cake. Didn't come from Disney though, my dear friend made it dor DH's birthday over this past weekend....thought it might inspire others to have a little Disney magic at home!

Any advice for a 8 year old birthday cake at CRT for breakfast? Yes, I'm getting cake for breakfast! She only turns 8 at Disney once in her lifetime! Maybe she'll take care of me when I'm 80:rotfl2: I'd like to call and order something special:love:

:coffee: I can't decide now which one or from where or agh... and the coffee this morning doesn't have any magical revelations in the bottom of the cup.

Should I order before we leave or wait until we get there? I want to surprise my hunny on our anniversary. We're doing Tony's for dinner that night because the kids loved it and well shucks, Lady and the Tramp are kinda cute and romantic too.:flower3:

That homemade Mickey cake is too cute - totally have to do that before we leave!

TinkandBelleFan - I'm ordering our cake before we leave. I know that personally, I would totally forget to order the cake once we actually got to Disney!

I love this cake too, did you every find out where to order it? I want to order it for my DH bday

Thanks, I'm new to this posting business, I was trying to find out where to order the Mickey Head cake from about 40 pages back....Sorry:confused3

Anywho, after reading through page 47 of this thread, my eyes are crossed. (BTW, this thread is awesome!!:thumbsup2 I've picked out the cake I want from the fab photos) So, I'm this may have already been asked: Can I special order a cake and have it delivered to Rain Forest Cafe? We are going to the one at Animal Kingdom. I have a sneaky feeling it can't be done b/c it's not a WDW restuarant. I'm not opposed to ording it and picking it up but we had planned to be at AK all day. I really don't want the Volcano, It's too rich for my tastes. It's cute though!

I think Ive seen pics of a mickey head cake in other disser's pics of the bakery case in the Boardwalk Bakery. Maybe you could pick one up from there

We ordered a cake for dd's 15th birthday for our dinner at WCC on April 7th. It was a 10 inch cake ~ marble cake, chocolate buttercream inside and chocolate ganache frosting. Here's a picture:

And here's the inside:

It was $40 and I ordered it by calling WL private dining. I ordered it about 2 months before our dinner and called to confirm a week prior. They had remembered, but no one got word to our server (we also had a gift basket, which I'll post later). That was a bummer because we had to ask dd10 to "fake" a potty break and ask dd15 to take her so we could talk to our server in private. We saw that she had brought out the "complimentary" dessert for dd15 and wanted to stop her and tell her about the cake and gift basket before she gave the smaller one.

The whole thing was a surprise for dd. She was surprised and it all went great once we informed the server.

We had told the host & hostess and called to confirm like 3 times about the adr, the cake and the gift basket. We really couldn't have mentioned it to the server while eating as dd was there and we didn't want her to know.

The cake was good, but I discovered chocolate ganache is not my favorite (this was the first time I'd had it). I thought it had a strange after-taste. Everyone else loved it though! After our big dinner, we were not that hungry and only ate a small portion of the cake, but did bring it back to our room at Pop (where we used the fridge swap, which was great because the cake fit!). We had the rest of it for breakfast one morning, so we did manage to eat it all, but it was HUGE for 4 people!

Here's a picture of the gift basket we got for dd15 at our WCC dinner. I arranged this through fairy_tale_ bride here on the dis (Lindsey). She now works for disney in the dream/floral dept. helping people arrange great, fun surprises like this one for birthdays, engagements, anniversaries, etc. It was GREAT working with her on this! We customized this basket with dd15's favorite things.

The basket includes the coolest :cool1: POTC bank that says "Dead Men Tell No Tales" when you put money in it. It also included 2 POTC beach towels (Lindsey threw an extra 1 in for free :) so dd11 could have one too!). It also had a small stuffed Eeyore, a signed card from Mickey & Minnie and of course the balloons, including a really awesome POTC one, which unfortunately you can't see in the picture. It was all put together in a really cool POTC treasure chest.

I'll post more about our surprises from this fun dinner shortly.

Has anyone ever gotten or do you know if you can get a birthday cake from Le Cellier? My fiancee and I are going in December for my birthday dinner and aren't sure if we can get a cake from there or if we have to order a cake from the boardwalk bakery and take it there ourselves?? Anyone know?? TIA! :goodvibes

We had ordered a cake from le cellier in jan. for my husbands birthday and they first forgot to bring it and then said it wasn't ordered then actually found it as we were about to leave. It was a total letdown. Plus then we had this enormous cake and no where to keep it and ending up leaving it behind.
Our favorite restaurant but a total dissappointment....and still had to pay 25.00 for it.

good to know that you can order cakes from there but that stinks that they didn't find yours until you were leaving!! And on top of that you still had to pay for it!!! Maybe we should just stick with their standard desserts or go to Beaches and Cream for dessert instead!!!!
