I signed up for the Disney VISA 5% in Disney Dollars on certain purchases in April, May and June. 5% is quite a bit and alot better than the usual 1%.

I'm just bummed we bought a new bed for $1300 the last week of March! That would have qualified a week later!

So now we're going to charge all of our gasoline on the Disney card for the next three months. Usually we get bills from Mobil, BP, Citgo and Shell and spread out the charges. Now we'll get one big bill but get 5% back for Disney.

We'll see how it goes....

Anyone else taking advantage of this deal?

I'm not familiar with this offer just an fyi incase it is the same...

Disney visa often advertises to certain customers a hey get 5% back on purchases in the following categories if you spend over XX dollars. For some people it seems a fairly low amount but for others who like me put anything and everything on the card already it is a rather high amount. They seem to categorize you based on your normal spending so that the amount you must spend more than is at or above your normal spending. Problem is if i'm already paying for everything on my disney visa how am I supposed to get more. And worse the 5% is only for purchases past that amount. So if your amount is set at $700, And I spend $800 in that category. I only get 5% on the amount over 700 so my disney rewards would be 1% on th first 700 ($7) and 5% on the remaining 100 ($5). So I get a total of $12 for getting over 700... which still actually averages to less than 2% total.

Yes, I am trying to take advantage on this deal, but as the previous poster stated regarding her amount, mine anything in these certain categories after the first $600 per month, so I'm not getting the 5% back either! :sad2:

You would think that the folks that use the card the most would get the most benefit but to me that doesn't seem the case although I'm still trying to take advantage of their promotion.

wow--I better call again about my DH, his said (in the smallest print ever)if you spend over $250.00 total then it will kick in. I know that gas, home furnishings, home & garden stores were included wasn't grocery included ( but not warehouse shopping) ?? I"m going to have to fish my offer out of the trash...probably gone since it was at the beginning of the month that I called!:lmao:

My DH hasn't used his card in 2 years (just has a $0 balance) and they sent him a postcard for over $100 we get the 5x bonus. So we stopped using our other DV for now. As long as the balances are paid off every month it's a great deal!:thumbsup2

But I did think it was weird that you had to sign up. Normally it just automatically kicks in after your limit each month.

mine is $600. I checked my statement online and all the grocery stores I use are mark "other" instead of grocery, they are Acme shoprite, and pathmark. they are the only ones in my area

I misread the original post...thought it said the 5% was a deal with getting a new disney visa. When my mailer came, I was like great. a few months later I called to ask why I wasnt seeing it as I think mine was something like 2000 and I put well over that on my card each month. That's when I found out how it worked. Even though they signed me up retroactively to the date of the offer, I never saw any bonus points since I couldnt get over the 2000 in the given categories.

I never received an offer for special points with my Disney visa. I quit using the thing. No offers, no trips planned that the points would be useful, rising interest rates for good customers, incompetent customer service. I'm through with Chase.

Mine's set at $2250...While I put EVERYTHING on my card, I really don't see that happening. I'm not going to worry too much though, in the past 3 years we've managed almost 1800 points!! Between the fence, furniture and shed for our house, plus any and all bills and spending that can be put on the card. Man if I could pay the mortgage and car payments this way, I'd be set!

Mine was anything over $2500!! Yeah right. Like I spend that much in groceries, etc.

DH's card is the one that we use for everything whil mine just sits idle. Dh got the offer for $2500+ while mine is only $100. The problem is that when I buy gas, it comes up as "vehicle expense" not "gas purchase" and groceries at 3 major chains in the Phila. area come up as "other", not "groceries". So, I could charge everything from now until the cows come home and I'll never even reach that magical $100 minimum.

A recent thread on the same topic was responded to that the poster called and verified that although the gas purchases showed up as vehicle expense on the bill they would be elligable. the same for grocery. That wasnt to say that you should assume you are fine but rather to call and verify for yourself that where you shop is categorized they way you think it should be. I was told my walmart purchases didn't count towards grocery but another poster said they were told that they did. Call and ask, having them look at your specific charges and tell you how they count.

I have yet to receive one of these offers...how do you receive them, with statement, postcard?? It would be interesting to see what I would get for the min as I use mine for everything and pay it off immediately.

I am really bad about reading the inserts in the statements, sigh. I am curious if there is another way to determine this.

Mine came in separate flyer, but I still managed to throw it away. I called Chase and they could confirm the offer and even answers a few questions (of course, who knows if thsoe answers are right!).

We only seem to use our card when booking tours at WDW or DL, so we had not used the card at all for about 6 months. Our offer was for 5X points over $250.

I signed up for the offer. We have to spend over $2250 to get any increased points. We are not planning any mahor purchases, but I figured it was worth it anyway just in case.
