Poor Mousekeeping at Beach Club (and other Resorts)

I have been reading reviews on trip advisor and allearsnet about the Beach Club and other disney properties as well. One thing that seems to be consistent is that people love the hotels but were a little displeased with mousekeeping. I was wondering if anyone has stayed at the beach club and what you thought of the mousekeeping in addition i would be curious to hear about mousekeeping from other hotels.

I have to admit I am a little concerned about the mousekeeping at the Beach Club..When we were at the Boardwalk Inn recently mousekeeping was great!! We never had a problem at all...but after reading all these negative reviews Im stressing a little if I made the right choice...Any input would be appreciate Thanks!!!!

As I just posted in another thread.. you can find good and bad reviews of mousekeeping at any resort.

Remember when you're reading 'review' sites.. the vast majority are going to be negative because people rarely go there to say "Hey everything was great" -- it's just not human nature.

Mousekeeping has always been great at every single stay I've had at Disney .. which totals some 50+ separate nights all together in my adult life. Other people have had different experiences.

I don't think you much to worry about. If it's not to your liking during the stay, stop at the front desk and speak to the on-duty manager. In my experience if you have any concerns about anything about your stay they are always very responsive.

The few problem I have had at any Disney resort have been taking care of right away as soon as the call has been made.

We are staying at BCV in June for the first time and can't wait. We don't ask for much just a clean room . I will report any damage if I think it needs to be attended to or that we could be blamed for it happening the day we arrive.

We don't look for stay hairs or anything like that and have no problem wipeing something down with an extra towle if needed.

I just hate when people complain and never called to have it corrected right away when something could hae been done about it.

I also relise that some have had just bad customer service as well it does happen in any business.

I wouldn't worry about housekeeping at any resort. As mentioned, you'll find the negative reviews getting the hype because there aren't many people who will gush about wonderful service. Think of it this way. I just saw a headline that said "Cruise Ship Sinks!" It did. But only after everyone had been safely evacuated from it.

My feeling is that if I went by every negative review on any board, I'd stay at home because there's not one single restaurant or resort that hasn't been criticized. For whatever reason. I could bash the Polynesian because it doesn't have a hot tub which is important to us. Most people don't care.

We stayed at the BC in Aug '06 and had no problems with housekeeping! They were always in there around 9 a.m. every day. I know before we went, I had read a lot of negative reviews, but none of the things I had read happened to us. Go, have fun, and don't stress about it. Like others have said, if you have a problem there contact housekeeping or the front desk and get them to take care of it.

I just saw a headline that said "Cruise Ship Sinks!" It did. But only after everyone had been safely evacuated from it.

And you'll never see a headline that says "Yesterday all cruise ships arrived safely with no incidents."

FWIW, don't the DVC properties (including Beach Club Villas) have only limited housekeeping services instead of daily service? It's always possible that someone stayed there vs.the Beach Club proper and didn't understand that difference. Not to say that there aren't going to be Mousekeeping "lapses" anywhere, but just one factor to consider when reading those reviews.

We stayed at the Beach Club in Dec. 2005 & 2006. In 2005, the only problem was they never seemed to leave enough towels. And in 2006, they seemed to always forgot to leave toilet paper. Also in 2006, a couple of afternoons we went back to our room briefly around 1:30PM or so and it still hadn't been cleaned yet. That was a little disappointing, but we left again and by the time we got back later in the day, it had been cleaned. So except for these minor details, overall they did a good job. And when we called them to get the towels & toilet paper, they were quick in delivering them. But even with these little "issues", we would still not hesitate from staying there again.

Our stay at the AKL recently was fabulous, but I'll say this. The first 3 nights we had a mousekeeper who did the minimum. She dressed the beds and cleaned a little but it wasn't "white glove". The last 4 nights were by a different lady who left her card and wished us a magical stay. She made the towel animals and left them in cute places around the room and the room was spotless. It was all good though, it wasn't like the room was ever really shoddy.

If they stayed in the Villa's on cash ( CRO )they get the same Daily keeping as the inn.

If stayed on rented points I would hope they were told of the difference.

If a member then they should have known better.

I like Tripadvisor and use it often but I have to say the more expensive the hotel, the more negative the reviews. I think a lot of people on Tripadvisor are deal hounds. They are looking for the most bang for their buck and the WDW deluxe's are expensive. So when somebody shells out that sort of money, they want it perfect because they think they are paying so much and deserve perfection. High expectations lead to disappointments. I am always surprised to see how the Disneyland onsite hotels rank on Tripadvisor. Somehow all three of them, even the Grand Californian almost always rank lower than places like the Howard Johnson's and the Candy Cane Inn. Which are perfectly fine but motels, with very little in the way of amenities. But they are so much cheaper that people go in with no expectations and are thus thrilled. I am not saying there aren't issues with the WDW and DL resorts but if I based my feelings on them solely on Triapdvisor, I would probably never stay at one.

And FWIW, I was reading allears to see information on OKW and it got slammed. I posted my worries here on the dis and was thrilled to have many disboarders assure me OKW is wonderful. So I booked it and am not worried now.

And I think its a definite possibility some of those posters on TA could have rented points and not known that they would not receive daily housekeeping. I know I was looking at that site regarding SSR awhile back and someone was complaing the housekeeper one time and one time only brought them clean towels and toilet paper and that was it. I was sorry that on that site I was not able to post that when staying on points (your own or rented points) thats what you get for stays less than eight nights. Unfortunately some owners who rent aren't always too clear on that point.

I will tell you a funny story about the BC. We were there in2005. I DO NOT like mousekeeping in my room at any hotel. I am a germaphobe. I take all my own linens. I even took my own stuff on The Disney Cruise. I know I am sick but I watched that Dateline show about 6 years ago and now I am ruined. I don't mind taking my own stuff, it is now just a part of my packing routine. When I get to a hotel. I check the place out make sure it looks OK. I am not to critical. I don't clean the room before I do anything. It is just the bed thing. I have never asked for a room to be recleaned before we stayed. What happens when I let them clean the room they take all of my stuff off the bed and remake it with their stuff. It is a pain to re make everything. Even when I have asked not to they forget and do it anyway. So I just hang the do not disturb sign on the door. I always run into a mousekeeper in the halls everyday and get clean towels and they take the old. The first day of our trip. I got the room ready put the sign out and left for the parks. It was around 9 am. I did this for 2 more days. Then my mom called from the room next door on the 3rd day and told me: That Disney makes the mousekeeping stay untill the end of their shift. Which for our girl was 4 pm and wait for anyone who puts a sign out. Just in case we got back before 4 and wanted our rooms clean. Well I felt terrible. I had no idea. So I told management that I would not be needing our rooms cleaned the rest of the week. So she could go home. My mom had run into the mousekeeper in the hall and asked for clean towels for me because we were going to be gone all day. (My mom slept late that day) So that is pretty good service if you ask me. Also if you don't want your room cleaned let her know so they don't have to wait around for you.

We just returned from the Beach Club Villas and our mousekeeper was wonderful! (I think her name was Pam ) My son loves towell animals and she would make a new one each time she cleaned. She also left us extra supplies and even stickers! She helped make our trip special!

Housekeeping has always been wonderful at any resort I was at. I have been at moderates as well as deluxes.....Rooms were always cleaned before 2:00 PM

Unlike HRH which I totally love for many many reasons....but they never ever have your room clean before 4:00 pm.

this is a major pain because when you want to come back to your room midday to rest you cannot.

many times at HRH I have told the housekeeper to not clean and just give me fresh towels so that I can lay down a bit.

So all WDW fans,,,,be happy..mousekeepers are truly the best...

and lets face facts..most of the rooms occupied are with families...at least 3 or more....so they have lots to clean up

We have had nothing but good experiences with mousekeeping at BC! The room is always clean, kids animals arranged, even towel animals!
