Hi,

We are going to Disneyland in September, we will be there from the 2nd-6th.

We are coming over from Australia for the first time so any information would be great.

Thanks
Cassy

Hi, Not sure what help you are looking for exactly and if you already have hotels booked, decided how many days to do to DL for, are familiar with any Disney Parks etc.

I would start by reading some of the stickeys at the top of this page, plus reading all the Disneyland information at the top of this page.

Search for Hydroguys rules, they are very useful for people who have not been to DL and DIsney in general before.

Perhaps if you post what advice you are looking e.g places to stay, places to eat, strategies for around the parks people will be able to help more.

If you want help planning your park days ridemax is good to buy (www.ridemax.com) you input the rides you would like to do and the date you want to do them on and it gives you a suggested order to ride them in so the best maximise your time in the parks.

Happy planning.

If you have not already booked, and are at all flexible, you might want to consider pushing it out a week. The weekend you picked is a 3 day holiday weekend here in the US. The park will be busy while you are there!

We have already booked and paid.... We are staying at Howard Johnson, 5 day hopper and Legendary tour... I was looking on the Disney site over the weekend and noticed that it was a long weekend (silly us we should have look into it more) Was thinking of doing the tour on the Monday, so that would leave 2 full days in the parks. Just waiting on the park hours to be released for September, we should be able to visit the parks on the first day, we should get to the hotel sometime in the afternoon.

Monday is the holiday, so its probably a good day to do the tour. It will take you out of the crowds a bit. With some planning, use of fast pass, etc, you can still have a very enjoyable time.

I recomend getting to the parks as early as possible each day. You have one early entry on your park hopper. Its on Mon, Tues, Thurs or Sat. That will be the best time for you to do the rides in Fantasyland. Mid-day either head over to DCA or take a break. The park will be full and it will be hot! Head back to DL in the evening for fireworks and fantasmic.

The nice thing about the dates you picked is that you should have very limited rides in refurb. Later that week Haunted mansion will go down for the nightmare overlay, so you should miss that closure.

I agree RideMax may be helpful, especially since you will be there over a holiday weekend.

We were there on Labor Day during the 50th, and were quite surprised at the lack of crowds on Sunday and Monday. :confused3 It was one of our best trips ever! :thumbsup2

Unfortunately, not only is this a holiday weekend, but it is also the DL 1/2 marathon weekend which will bring in thousands of people. Honestly, if you are talking loosing a few hundred in deposits, I would still consider changing. if not, then let us help you plan !

Judy,

If I could change my booking I would but its a bit hard when we are coming from Australia and have already paid out over $13,000AUD , Anaheim is not the only place we are going. We are also going to Orlando, Memphis, Nashiville and Atlanta. We will be in WDW for my daughter's 13th birthday.

My family and I are heading over from Queensland in 3 more sleeps (yay!). We're also going in a busy time (spring break), but that couldn't be helped. If you have any specific questions, let me know - either before I go or after I get back.

And we're heading over there, from Sydney, in mid-May!

I really recommend taking some time to read back into old posts here in the forums - you can learn soooo much about what to do/not to do etc. The other place that I have found helpful is Mousesavers.com and LaughingPlace.com. They have all been invaluable for information eg: I didn't realise that you really need to make reservations ahead of time. Glad I realised this, and have phoned Disney Vacation Planning and pre-booked some meals (we can utilise DVP because we're staying "onsite" - if you're not staying onsite you can still call Disney Dining (look at the Disney site for their number) and make reservations.

Most important rule to viisting any Disney Park is get there early!!!
Be at the parks at opening everyday. The Park hour will be extended over the Holiday weekend so you can go back to the hotel and take a nap in the day and go back at night.
You can get so much done if you get to the parks early before the crowdes.

Have Fun

OK, then you have come to the right place !
The 5 k is on Sunday, and the 1/2m marathon in on Monday. They will both be over in time for normal entry times.

you may not realise that the brown links at the top of the page go to our Planning content. Lots of good stuff there!
