Question about CASH

How much cash should I carry? I'm always fond of limiting it when on vacation for obvious reasons...

But since it's been so long since my last visit, how many places ONLY take cash? I don't want to have to use an ATM at the park (because of high fees).

I was thinking of bringing some cash and some Disney Dollars, but not much, depending on how many places ONLY take cash.

TIA for any input.

Just the little snack carts take cash only (and I believe that might change eventually). I am a Disney Visa sort of girl, so I will carry that, my disney gift card and maybe $40 with me at the park.

That's me too! Just remember that CM's will often ask for photo ID when using a credit card. I use my AP since it has my photo. Bring a few coins for using in wishing wells, pressed pennies, or the shooting gallery if those interest you.

or you can get one of those credit cards that HAS your picture.

ODV carts might be gettin credit card machines... Really soon i think.

I bring about $20 in the morning, then I grab another $20 when we go back for pool/nap break in the afternoon to use at night! Everything else goes on a card, much easier!

Several trips I have purchased myself DL gift cards online. That way I had a set budget, but, I did also use the ATM machines in the park. Depending upon your budget, you may not want to have ALL cash, which is why the gift cards are nice. :)

if your staying at one of the disney properties...do they have a KTTW card like at WDW?

Is that like charging it to your room? If so, yes they do. I'd be careful on that because it can add up quickly. We use the DL gift card because it limits us if you want to be careful on spending.

Thank you, everyone, for all of the terrific info.

I've decided, based on the above, to bring my Disney Visa, my photo ID, and approximately $40 cash for each day, just to be safe. I may also give my kids each some Disney dollars to spend on a special snack (I will also be bringing in some snacks from home, of course). Maybe that way they will "hoard" their Disney dollars until they find just the right treat, instead of begging me for every snack item they find!

Thanks a million!

Have a great trip!!! :cool1:

I'm surprised that no one mentioned this but if you need to get cash, don't use the ATM's and pay the fees! You can just go into the shops and buy disney dollars and it is treated as a purchase and not a cash advance on your card so NO fees! A neat little money saving trick I learned on these boards!
