Rides for "fluffier" people...

I was just wondering if "fluffy" people have a problem on any of the rides... or any rides to avoid???

I still have 2 months to get a couple sizes smaller than I currently am... but I'm just wondering in advance, to avoid embarassment while there...

TIA

Fluffy? I think thats the cutest and most respectful way to discribe someone. I have never heard anyone using that before for someone before :goodvibes Im gonna use that phrase from now on thanks lol

Someone a while back brought this up on a thread, and if I can remember correctly most fluffy people really dont have an issue with any of the rides.

When I went to DL last year, I was on Splash Mountain and I was in the single rider line, and I got in a boat with 4 very fluffy girls and they were really sweet. After the ride we got talking about our adventures at the park and the rides that we went on, and they told me they went on everything except for what they hadnt seen yet. The ride pull down shoulder bars go down as far as needed, and most are lap bars which go down to your preferred comfort level.

My DD's dad is a really big guy - over 300lbs - and he has never had any problems with any of the rides, including Gadget's Go Coaster (it's a tight fit, but that can be said for anyone over 3 feet tall :lol)

Does this include DCA??

I think it is good for everyone to know . . .because we all know or love a fluffy or pooh sized person, or are one :)

My dad isn't 'fluffy' but he is 6'3" and just a big man. He was a bit uncomfortable on:

Alice in Wonderland
Pinochio
Snow White

Some of the cars on the rides have skinny doorways, but once on he was fine. Rides like:

Monsters Inc
Pooh
Roger Rabbit
All the kiddy ones in Bugs land in DCA

Those are the only ones standing out right now.

With that being said, they are all still manageable and if you think you want to do the ride, go for it and give it a try.

I'm not fluffy, but I'll tell you those Casey Jr. train cars are a squeeze for anyone over 6 years old.

As hubby and I are both "fluffy", I too have been researching. The only one I know of is the Orange Stinger ride at DCA.

Now I understand that there may be an issue on the Mummy Ride at Universal, but that's another park.

P.S. I use "Pooh" sized and honestly, at this point, that's more what I'm looking like!

I agree. I am not fluffy either and those inclosed cars are cramped. We sat in the front car of the train, it is two rows facing forward, and my dad was fine in it.

Yep that car definintely seemed to be the one to get, but kids always want to sit in the cage. Why must I eat my knees for 8 minutes! WHY!! :rotfl:

It's a cage right? With a closing door? Hmmm, maybe we can cage the kids while we sit in the front and enjoy the scenery?!!! And stretch out!:lmao:

I have been varying degrees of "fluffy" through many trips to WDW and Disneyland and I have never had a problem (size 22 at my heaviest). The one ride that sort of comes to mind is: Astro Orbitor. You will fit fine but its best if only one normal to large sized person sits in the rocket either alone or with a small child. Its a bit of a pain getting in and out but the good news is that everyone, even skinny people look awkward doing that! Orange Stinger used to have a 200 lb. limit posted but that was really just to alert people that it can be a tight squeeze. That weight limit is now not posted but be aware that the swing/seats are not all that large. My brother who is not a small guy rode it just fine in June. That is really all I can think of. Disneyland is a very size friendly place. Not at all like other theme parks where morified people (like me at Six Flags many years ago) have been known to have to exit a ride since they cannot fit. I have really never seen that at DL. Some of the turnstiles are a bit tight (the one at Snow White and Pinnochio comes to mind). Just stand on tip toe and go in sideways. You will have a great, fun, relaxed trip with no worries I promise!

Thanks so much for the info about Orange Stinger. With DH and I both larger people, I was thinking we might have to send the kids on by themselves. We may still not ride, but at least now it's an option.

"fluffy" people.. hahahha... my friend is actually one of them... and he rides almost nothing!! (we did lie to him in some cases so that he would ride at least something and wouldn't spoil his ticket...)

I'm fluffy in the hips, thighs, and butt. I think I'm shaped more like Ursula on Little Mermaid... small shoulders and through the waist, but HUGE BUTT! :sad2:

What do you think about me getting on Maliboomer? That's one ride I really want to do.

We have something silimar here at Paramount King's Dominion, but I just need maybe an extra 2" on the safety belt for it to click into the shoulder harness.

DH and I are both "fluffy," and working on being less so, but we have never not been able to ride a ride at DL that we wanted to ride (I have never been on the Mailboomer or the Orange Stinger though). I don't even like going to Six Flags or Knott's because there's always that "chance" that you wait in line all that time and then can't ride. :sad2: :sad1: I have never had that experience at DL. I am not sure why Six Flags and Knott's can't add a couple inches to their saftey belts:confused3

Oh well neither of them compare to DL anyway and I will always choose to go to DL first!

On our last trip, we were both "fluffier" than we are now. If you picture a sumo wrestler gone to seed, as they say, that's DH. The massive thighs and strong arms of a sumo, but with a belly that doesn't really indicate strength, but just too many big meals. :rotfl:

Although he was worried, he didn't actually have a problem on rides. However, b/c much of his extra bulk is in his belly, when we were on rides with a lap bar together, I had a bit too much room to move around! So it's not HIS problem, but that of the co-rider. :)

Anyway, there didn't seem to be problems at DL (though we did NOT go to DCA).

To the OP, since you indicate a wish to drop some sizes, have you tried Pilates? I did the Winsor Pilates DVD the year before our wedding, and even though the Weight Watchers scale indicated a higher weight than I liked, b/c of the toning involved in the Pilates exercises, I *appeared* sizes smaller than I would have been without the toning. (caveat...I have a fitness/sports background, and am comfy just doing a DVD...others might want to find a good class at first, to make sure they are doing it right...but otherwise, Pilates is a very good exercise for everyone!)

Amber, is that you in your sig picture? If so it looks to me like you'll be fine. I have ridden Maliboomer many times including at my all time heaviest. At that time I was a size 22 in the pants department, very big butt and tummy. I had no problem. What I always do the first time I ride a ride in question, I stand and look at the various people riding that ride and see their sizes. I also ask a cm at the ride, they know and they have always told me I would be fine and they were always right! If you have fit fine on TOT at WDW Maliboomer should be fine. Its a fun ride but very short. And there's generally no line since most people are too chicken I guess!

Fluffy...I believe I shall use that term for myself, I love it!

At my biggest, I was at a 22 and never had a problem on any of the rides. Maliboomer was a bit of a squeeze but it's just because the seat is such an akward shape! My DL companion I always go with at her heaviest was a 28 and could fit on everything but California Screamin (the bar just wouldn't fit over her bust, haha). I think you should be fine! If in doubt, observe the people going on the ride and ask a CM (like another person posted). Just enjoy the trip and good luck with your weight loss journey!
