NEW AK TS restaurant

I don't know if this is the forum for this thread, or if it belongs in dining (It's kind of a combo, so I'll leave it up to the moderators to decide) But does anyone have any news about the new TS restaurant in AK? I heard that it will be called "The Yak and Yeti" (unconfirmed) but don't know anything about the menu/price range, decor (I would assume it fits with the theming of the area it is in), etc. Can anyone confirm this or add information? Also, It's supposed to open this summer, so are they taking reservations now?

The below is from the press release last year. Since then, The Yak and Yeti (insert yak joke here) has surfaced as the name. Last I heard they had not announced a definite opening date and weren't taking ADRs yet.

Landry's has acquired the majority interest in Schussler Creative's new Asian themed eatery (which is expected to open by summer 2007) inside Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park. This Asian-themed restaurant with retail is reminiscent of the western Himalayan foothills in India and Nepal, featuring a rural village called Anandapur in a jungle with a tiny town-like mass at its center. Asia will offer full service table dining, as well as quick service food. This
Asian-Fusion concept will feature Asian decor, complete with Asian antiques, as well as a retail component that will offer Asian goods ranging from Sushi plates to chopsticks and fine teapots.

Other than "Asisan-fusion", I don't think anything has come out. But Asian-fusion would mean it won't have the same menu as RFC. I certainly hope it won't, given that RFC is right outside the park and accessable to park guests.

Side note on Sushi. Maybe I should start a new thread, but I heard a review of the Noodle Station in MK on the Dis Podcast, and they absolutely reamed it.

One of the complaints was that the California Rolls were Publix California Rolls. Literally. They were in the same plastic wrap and had the Publix stamp on them.

That sounds too low for I think even the harshest critics to believe. Can anyone confirm/deny that they do this?

When I was in college, "Yak" was a euphemism (like "Talking to Ralph on the big white telephone") for throwing up - especially in relation to alcohol consumption. Not to appetizing for me.

Yes, that's what I meant when I said I didn't think it would work. People are either going to think of tossing cookies or some big hairy goat thing, and I don't see either as being that appetizing.

I just posted the link because I'm sure that's why Disney chose the name.

It's become really popular in Blue states everywhere.


Somehow, I don't think Nepalese food resembles Asian Fusion. If anything I would expect more of an Indian influence.

Maybe they're calling it fusion so they can sell Chicken nuggets with red curry spicy 3 dipping sauce

YUM. . . I don't think I would want to be a cast member there and have to deal with the daily jokes about the name (yes sir, that's a good one, I've NEVER heard that before ) Should we start a pool and guess how long it will take for the name to change?

1) If it were a Disney restaurant, I might agree.
2) They are doing most things at WDW "on the cheap" nowadays.
3) But, this is a Landry restaurant.
4) Agree with the theme or not, they still do a great job.
5) I think it will be fun and a good addition. *

* As long as they continue to keep it non-DDP. I would not like another eatery ruined by becoming a DDP restaurant. Too much of the public just wants volume and mass, and doesn't care about design uniqueness-originality or food quality-style. At the reimbursement rate of DDP, these could not be done at a Landry restaurant.
