I'm looking for fun dining

Are there any other restaurants that offer entertainment like they do at the Whispering Canyon and the 50's Prime Time Cafe? My family feels like the interaction really makes the meal.

You've listed #1 and #2 on the "fun dining" list.

Some folks also mention 'Ohana, but I feel it just doesn't live up to the standard set by Whispering Canyon.

The character meals are all fun for folks who like characters, but you're not really "interacting" with them -- they're stopping by to say hello, take a picture, and move one. Really not-fun, IMHO, except with very young children, who's reactions are the focus of the fun, in the end.

Some folks mention Sci-Fi; I don't consider that fun though. The "cool" tables are cramped, and the novelty wears off within 3-4 minutes. The movies aren't as fun as the television shows at 50s Prime Time, and the interactions with the servers isn't anything to speak of. I always thought they should make these servers play the part of rollerskating car hops, but I suppose that would be too dangerous.

I remember going to Sci-Fi when it first open and a few of the servers were on skates!

the Hoop Dee Doo is great fun. pretty expensive as it is considered a dinner show. corny jokes, a fairly interactive experience. only go if you dig BBQ and fried chicken. (other special needs menues are available on request i believe.)

however, we love that show.

there is also a luau (sp?) type show at the poly. we have done it also, but we didn't like it as much at the hoop dee doo.

I was also going to suggest Hoop De Doo. Very fast paced, very interactive and a lot of fun.

my ds likes Ohana but his favorite was Donalds breakfastosaurus. We didn't expect the dining staff to be in on the jokes. It was much better than we anticipated! A lot of fun!

Add us to the Hoop Dee Doo crowd which is a first night at WDW family tradition!!!

I have heard the character breakfast at 'Ohana is lots of fun. We did enjoy Sci Fi, for burgers and fries we thought it was fine, and the kids thought it was soooo cool eating at a drive in!

DD loves eating at Biergarten in Germany at Epcot. There is an oompah band and kids go out on the floor and dance.

What do you mean by "cramped". Do pooh- sized people, like me, have a hard time fitting in the cars or there are just lots of them?:scared:

50's Prime Time is a lot of fun -- if you get the right server. We have been there 4 or 5 times and have only had 2 that were really great. We were there just this past Friday night and were totally unimpressed. Our waiter seemed bored and rattled off his "shtick" in a robotic monotone.

The restaurant that we have consistently enjoyed is Liberty Tree Tavern for the character dinner. We have been to a number of character meals and found the characters at LTT to be the most fun (particularly Chip and Dale). We try to got there on every trip. Oh, the "we" I am referring to are all adults -- DH, me and, on some trips, DS and DDIL . I can only imagine how much fun we would have if we had some kids with us!

The former. When I was very large, I found the cars a bit constraining, and moved to a picnic table in the back of the restaurant.

I guess it depends how Pooh sized you are. I am a 20/22, and I had no problems. The "girls" fit in the car just fine!!! :rotfl:
