Where To Eat At Epcot With Kids

I Have A Picky 5 And 10 Year Old Who Live On Chicken And Pizza. When We Visit Epcot We Would Love To Have A Nice Sit Down Meal As A Treat To My Husband And I. What Rest. Would You Recommend And Do I Need Reservations? Keep My Picky Kids In Mind. They Are Very Well Behaved; Just Very Funny About What They Eat. And No I Will No Feed Them Before We Go; That Was A Past Recommendation. I Want Everyone To Enjoy!!

When we go we are doing the Garden Grill. My kids also love the Italian restaurants as well as Japan.

My 9 year old son is super duper picky. He wants burger, chicken, hotdogs and pizza. Oh yeah, fries too.

Because of this, we don't do many of the Epcot restaurants. We have eaten at the Garden Grill (they have chicken for the kids) and LeCellier (Canada). He ordered a hot dog there. We have reservations for Garden Grill and the Coral Reef. The Coral Reef restaurant has a pizza on the menu so he'll be fine with that.

I get tired of hearing everybody say just order something for him and MAKE him eat it. Well.....excuse me, but would you order something for yourself that you didn't like? Absolutely not! So what's the difference. At least he is eating.

Most places at Epcot (World Showcase, never tried the others) have a child's menu with either chicken or pizza on it - even Nine Dragons, LOL! I know France has a mini hamburger, as well.

The places I'd stay away from are Biergarten and Akershus, since they are buffets, and don't have any "standard" items on a menu.

Other than that, for a nice, sit-down dinner I'd do Chefs de France or Alfredo's. Le Cellier, if you can get a reservation. Both of these definitely have menu choices for picky children (I know from experience). Rose and Crown might be another good choice.

I'd definitely do reservations for everything! ASAP, as they fill up quickly!

With the standardization of the kids menus (result of the ddp) you'll be hard pressed to find something other than burgers, chicken and pizza.

You definitely need reservations for any sit-down (TS) meal in Epcot. All of the restaurants are quite popular, and many of them don't take walkups if they're fully booked - they won't let you wait for a table, but will just turn you away.

Funnily enough, my very, very picky almost-5 yr old really enjoyed Biergarten! Besides being picky, she's not a huge eater, so she was fine with the rotissary chicken and some potatoes. She loved the entertainment, though, and we got a little peace and quiet while she was on the dance floor (which is close enough to the tables that you can see everyone.) She even got to "light" the Christmas tree! Like another poster said, look at the menus and see what you think will appeal to your kiddos AND to you and your hubby.

I would not automatically rule out the Biergarten. We had dinner there with our picky five year old son, and he LOVED the chicken schinztel (which is just fancy chicken fingers, expertly fried). You might also be able to sell the weiners as "hot dogs". The entertainment is also very kid-friendly.

Our son also loved getting fish-n-chips (he likes fish -- go figure) at the stand next to Rose & Crown, and watching Illuminations from the patio seating (best spot in the park). My wife grabbed the table, I grabbed the food and the drinks (the beer stand is right there), and we enjoyed.

But -- our best hint for a nice dinner at Epcot is as follows: make a reservation at the Sand Club (kid's club) at the Beach resort next to the park. Walk out of the park before the bridge into France, and check your kids into the club (where they will get all the chicken fingers and hamburgs, flavored with multiple video games, arts & crafts, toys and Disney movies). Then go back into the park to eat at the restaurant of your choice (ADR in hand, of course), with no guilt and no whining. This plan works especially well for places like Bistro de Paris and the Japanese restaurants.

All of the restaurants will have a childrens menu with the typical kids fare so you can go ahead and pick something that suits you and dh.

Our favorites are LeCelliar in Canada - great filet and seafood, San Angel Inn in Mexico and Rose & Crown Pub in UK.

I would Highly recommending making a reservation (ADR) for any table service restaurant you are interested in. Many make them 180 days in advance so getting a TS restaurant the "day of" is getting much more difficult.

Actually, there are quite a few varied choices for kids in Epcot.

Coral Reef: Grilled Mahi Mahi, Smoked Fish Chowder or Lobster Soup
Sunshine Seasons: Sweet and Sour Chicken, Mini Sub
Cantina de San Angel: child size beef burrito
Chefs de France: Croquette de Boeuf En Brioche (just kidding, that's a burger )
Alfredo: Spaghetti Al Pomodoro, penne pasta with cream and parmesan cheese
Le Cellier: steak
Nine Dragons: sweet and sour chicken, fried rice and spring roll
Marrakesh: beef kabob
Rose and Crown: shepherd's pie, bangers and mash
San Angel Inn: burrito, chicken quesadilla
Tempura Kiku and Teppanyaki: shrimp or chicken, grilled or tempura with vegetables
Yakitori: teriyaki chicken with veggies

Those are all in addition to the regular offerings of burgers, pizza, chicken strips, and mac & cheese, and those look a lot better than most of the rest of the choices in the other parks.

We have dd10, dh and I love to eat at Japan. Myds 8 does not like anything there. We get nuggets and fries at the McDonalds Kiosk in Canada and bring it into Japan for him to eat, while we eat. He doesn't eat the food but loves to watch them make the onion volcano.

We love Teppanyaki at Japan and have a fussy -just turning 5 yr old boy. They do chicken for the kids on the grill and standard veggies (carrots/peas/beans/corn) instead of the fancier veggies, but he likes the "show" of the cooking the best and keeps him entertained. He calls it the Iron Chef restaurant, and the chefs there are very good to catering and entertaining the kids. Not sure when you are going though because it will be closed for a while for refurb.

DS is also picky! He would NOT eat the pizza at Coral Reef because it had "chunks" of tomato on it!

That said - he devoured the chicken at Alfredo's! It was baked chicken strips with a crunchy bread crumb topping. Alfredo's would be fun for your kids too with the singing and napkin twirling.

But my pick would be Chefs (France). It is a wonderful place (I'm thinking of you and DH, too) with lots of great food. Picky DS ordered the hamburger and it was fine. We sat by the window and got to people-watch and also saw the show out front (very funny! Waiters stack chairs and balance up high). Also, you can see Impressions of France (I love this!) before you go for your meal - to get in the mood!
