Nine Dragons these days anyone?

We are contemplating changing our last ADR in August from Alfredos (with all the closing rumors abounding) to either Nine Dragons or Rose and Crown.

The only two World Showcase restaurants we have not tried are Nine Dragons (due to bad publicity) and Akerhaus (sp) (due to food our kids would not like, plus, now it involves princesses and we have 12 and 15 YO boys). My picky 12 YO looked at the menu to Nine Dragons and actually found some things he thinks he would like, plus, we would to acclimate the kids to some Chinese food since DH and I like to get it at home (we ususally get the boys pizza from the restaurant next door to our local Chinese place). We are planning on doing the dining program, so if the food is overpriced that is not a concern. Has anyone eaten here lately who can comment on food and service quality?

Another choice would be Rose and Crown. We've eaten here in the past and enjoyed the food, although the menu seems much smaller than before.

We have already eaten at Alfredos, and although we enjoyed it, we are doing the Mama Melrose Fantasmic package so we will get some Italian food.

We had avoided Nine Dragons for years due to bad reviews, but we tried it for lunch in May and we really enjoyed it. It is a really lovely restaurant, great views, service was excellent. I think the main complaint is that the food is a lot like what you would get at your local Chinese restaurant, at twice the price. But my local Chinese restaurant doesn't look anything like that one and it is not in Epcot!

We are going to try out Nine Dragons for dinner. This was the one restaurant I said I wanted to go to from the start. I read about some of the bad reviews on here, but that isn't stopping me from giving it a whirl!

We have had both lunch and dinner there and thoroughly enjoyed both the food and service. We keep going back.

We did dinner there in October and loved it!! We enjoyed everything we had, the General Tso's Chicken was my favorite but we also had the Pepper Steak and Honey Seasame Chicken which were both very good. My little cousin had the childrens Sweet and Sour chicken and the sauce was on the side which was great because he ate the chicken plain while we enjoyed the sauce!! We actually don't enjoy Alfredo's much, we tried it for the 2nd time in October and still didnt love it...so Nine Dragons is a very good choice!!

We had also stayed away from Nine Dragons due to guidebook advice. When the Dining plan came out we decided to give it a try. Loved it. Brought our friends the next time and they loved it too. Service was great, food was good. Yes it cost more than your local restaurant, but it is Disney so you expect that.

I've only ever been to Nine Dragons once - and it was in 98 - but we loved it!! I'd choose that over Rose and Crown ANY day!! We found R&C to be very boring....

The only TS restaraunt I had never tried at Epcot was Nine Dragons. I too had avoided it due to the bad reviews here on the Dis. Finally this past Dec I tried it (solo) and was pleasantly surprised. I had the most wonderful, attentive waitor. I asked him what the spiciest thing on the menu was and he hesitantly pointed to the first entree on their menu. After he brought it he came back several times (with a very worried look on his face), to make sure I liked it and told me that if it was too spicy he'd be glad to bring me something else for free. It was really funny as I had to keep reassuring him I was fine. (Hey, I'm from Texas there is no such thing as 'too spicy') Anyway I couldn't finish it, so after I finished he brought me a to go container and said he'd pack it up himself, even put it in a bag for me. He then brought me a dish of ginger ice cream, without me even asking for it, saying he thought I might need it to cool my mouth off. It was a big dish of two scoops and he didn't even charge me for it. It had started raining while I was in there. I had a very nice table next to the window overlooking the lake and since they weren't crowded he told me to just sit tight until the rain stopped. Anyway very nice atmosphere, wonderful food, and some of the best service I've ever had at WDW.

We have eaten there several times and always find it to be delicious. The food appears freshly prepared and the presentation is nice. The atmosphere in the restaurant is a cut above park dining too!

Due to some last minute itinerary changes, we ended up having dinner here Saturday night. My entire family (including me - not a big fan of this type of food) LOVED IT! We were all pleasantly surprised, as I had heard bad reviews as well. The restaurant is lovely and the service was great.

I'd give it a try!

This is great news for me. My family is going to Disneyworld for the first time in July. My DD 6 is a huge fan of China and anything Chinese (My cousin lives and works in Hong Kong and sends cool stuff to her from time to time.) When I started talking to my kids about our trip I went to the Disneyworld website and showed them pictures of Cinderella's castle. DD was impressed with that, until she saw a picture of the China pavillion. "Mama, can we eat there?!" Why do I have reservations at CRT? Of course I made an ADR despite all of the bad reviews. So I am thrilled to hear of so many people who had good experiences. Thanks for sharing and allowing me to share.

My family (2 adults, 3 children) has tried all of the sit-down restaurants at Epcot (most more than once) and Nine Dragons is one of our favorites. We've gone there on our last three trips (two of these visits were in the last year), twice for lunch and the last time for dinner. The restaurant is very pretty with dark woods, the food was delicious, and the service was great (very attentive).

Not to pile on the "me too" advice here, but I also quite like Nine Dragons and think it doesn't deserve its reputation. The guidebooks need to visit again

On the plus side, the reputation means that a lot of people avoid it, and this is one location that has seating available until the afternoon, so maybe that's not such a bad thing.
