HI. I have been reading a lot of the threads on here and it seems like some of you are having 10-20000 dollar weddings. How is this possible? I am from Jersey and I am having a 25000 dollar wedding and if I could have a cheaper one at Disney then I would rather do that.

I went on the website and it seems like they only have live bands for entertaonment at the reception. Do they have DJs cause I am not into the live band thing.

Yes they do have DJ's... and yes that price range is very do'able!! I had an intimate wedding (smaller than a custom- which you are looking into)... Im sure a custom bride will come through here and offer you the information that you need. GL:thumbsup2 and Congratulations:yay:

yeah they do djs, i have heard of several brides on here that have had a dj. hopefully one of them will pop along soon

ooh maggie, you just beat me to it!

Hi fellow Jersey girl, where in NJ are you?

I originally was having my wedding in NJ for about 150 people. The food and reception location alone cost close to $20k. My parents are paying for our entire wedding, and I just felt extremely guilty having them pay so much money. So, we looked into Disney.

We will have about 70 guests at our Disney wedding. We are writing a check to Disney for about $18k which covers the cost of ceremony location, ceremony decor, limo transportation for the bridal party, pre-reception and reception food, open bar, and cake, DJ for the reception, violinist for the ceremony, 3 flower girl baskets, sand ceremony supplies, my bouquet, BMs, Moms', and Grandmas' bouquets, groomsmens', Dads', and Grandpas' bouteniers (sp?), purse for me, bubbles for everyone, and rose petals for the aisle and table.

We are making our own centerpieces, making our own favors, and using an outside photographer. DF's family is hosting a rehearsal dinner, and DF is paying for the officiant and the maggiage license. We are flying down my hairdresser to do my hair and make-up. We are getting my dress, bridesmaid dresses, and my mom's dress steamed the day before the wedding. After our disneymoon, we will return to NJ and have a cocktail & cake reception for about 80 people. If you figure in all of this plus airfare, accomodations, and lots of food at WDW, we still would have spent a whole lot less than we would have in NJ.

I know I was kind of rambling. Let me know if you want more specific info. Good luck :)

Hi. I'm from South Jersey. So how many people are in your bridal party and what is you date?

And you are having your reception there too right?

Thats not a bad price at all. Thanks for your help.

I am hoping my wedding there is between 10-12 k but I too am having an intimate wedding because I can't get that many people to go all the way to FL

Good luck!

I'm from Central Jersey, 114 on the Parkway. Yes, we're having a wedding and reception at WDW on June 25 :goodvibes Bridal party consists of 1 MOH, 3 BMs, 1 Best Man, 3 groomsmen, 3 flowergirls, and 1 ring bearer. I thought Disney was very reasonable compared to what they charge you in NJ!

Happy planning :)

JJ, Isn't it funny how us Jersey girls define ourselves by exit #?! :goodvibes
Fromerly from Exit 163 here! (moved to NY when I finished college)

Anyhow, I wanted to add my 2 cents on this too. We sat down and figured out costs for NJ vs Disney and it is definitely WAAAY more pocket friendly to do Disney. Not to mention sanity saving too! If we were to have it in NJ, we wouldn't be able to invite everyone we want, b/c we can't afford to have a 300+ person wedding. We are ok with the fact that not everyone will be able to come to FL, but we really didn't want to have to sit down and cut people off the invite list just b/c it would be local and we couldn't afford for everyone to come. The pricing for reception locations is just out of hand in NJ, some places wanted $150-$200/pp min! So for having a SM and EM to take care of everything, and a lower /pp min and being able to invite everyone we want, we went with Disney.

HTH

ETA: Lynn, yup, DJ's are available. In wishbook scroll down to the bottom on the entertainment choices.

Hi! I'm another custom bride from NJ, Exit 9 off the Turnpike (originally from NY) that's become a huge fan of DFTW vs the overpriced NJ alternative. :cool1:

Hi there!! Exit 168 off the Parkway here. :lmao: We looked into a NJ wedding for several months but just couldnt' afford it. So we decided we would definitely go for the Disney wedding. We had 43 people come down and we spent around $16K including our outside expenses. That doesn't include the honeymoon, just the wedding. But it was worth every penny. I don't know how I would have handled it if I had to do it all myself. I had always said I wanted a planner, but the ones in NJ are not cheap and Disney's come with the wedding... that seems like a no brainer... We absolutely loved our wedding. There wasn't anything we regretted or would have changed. My husband is already planning our 10 year vow renewal there. I would say go for Disney. You only do it once. :goodvibes

Thats not a bad price. Now what did all that include? Did you have your reception there and what was your decor? Did you have a photographer, videographer?

We had DJ Scooter and he cost us 1875! So, yes, Disney does offer DJ's and you can use an outside DJ as well! I think they have a list of prefered ones in the area. I can say that DJ Scooter was amazing! We have pictures of him dancing and interacting with our guests, he was great!!

Disney does have DJ's we had Charles Miles and LOVED him. I still keep in touch with him. Really, depending on how many guests you are having, time of day, location (in park or in resort) all of this will factor in. We had 48 people at our wedding (including us). Keeping in mind that the prices change, and we made alot of our centerpieces, and reused floral, and we had characters, a quartet for the ceremony, chair covers, characters, Illuminations Dessert party, and a DJ for our reception. Our Disney portion for the wedding alone was around 17k. I had outside video and photography. You can definately do it for less than NJ. If I counted in the travel, the hotel rooms, food, tickets, honeymoon, dress, invitations and all of that stuff I would rather not count, all in I think I was in the mid to high 20's maybe I hit 30. But I bought 4 flower girl dresses, and tuxes and the hair/ makeup and the whole 9 yards. I hope that this helps!

I'm in South Jersey (exit 5 off of the TPK) and our Disney wedding was way cheaper than a wedding here would have been. We spent about $18K in 2003, but honestly, we could have probably kept it down to $15K. Once we saw how "little" we were spending at the end, we went on in and added some extras, like chair covers, champagne instead of cider, Mickey and Minnie, etc. Just to give you a better idea, we had 27 guests including ourselves, the ceremony at the WP, reception at Ariel's, and a dessert party. We also hired a photographer, videographer, and a DJ, so we really didn't miss out on not doing anything.

I'm exit 8A! Jersey sure is expensive for weddings! I am not getting married until late 2008 or early 2009 BUT my older brother was married here in Jersey two years ago an WOAH! That price tag would have killed me! Having it at home meant they had to invite everyone. My sister in law comes from a HUGE Italian family so even with cutting people, the guest list was over 220 people. They had the reception in PA and it was a good deal but it was FAR from the church and you had to drive a little ways to the hotel after the reception. My budget is 10-15K also and from what I get on the boards it is totally do-able. Where I am in Jersey there aren't that many reception halls in a reasonable distance from the church and the ones that are....over $125 pp!!!:scared1:

My mom lives 2 hours from Disney so that made a DFTW easy to justify. We plan on having some kind of party here when we get back but informal so we can invite everyone! Friends, Family, Co-Workers, whoever! :rotfl: I can't get over how many Disbrides are from Jersey! That is so cool!
