Concerned over my photographer choice.....

I am now getting worked up and I don't if I should be that I made the wrong decision on my photograher. I am now considering switching to Randy Chapman because you get so much more in his packages and I know he will do a good job. I originally had Randy booked but then I found this other photographer and I like her pictures on her website. She was way more expensive but when we met for our engagement pictures she was late and I wasn't too impressed with the pictures. There wasn't a whole lot to choose from either about 12 and I know she took many, plus we have to buy all of our photos on top of what we payed. The only thing included in the package is a coffee table type book with 50 pages( or 50 photos) not sure.

I found out that Randy is still available for my date but if I book him we would loose the deposit which was $1750 with the other photographer. But if we go with her we have to pay an extra $250 for another hour and $500 for the CD(that randy includes) plus any prints from ordering online. I just don't know what to do. I really think Randy is the best choice now and I made a mistake. I know she will do a good job in the photos if I do decide to go with her. My problem is my DF is really ticked at me because I am bringing this up now and that we could have saved $1750 if we just went with Randy in the first place. Pictures are not that important to him like they are to me.

Any advise? My mom thinks I should go and book randy because she wasn't too impressed either.

Weel that is tough- only you can decide if financially switching is a good choice. I think it is very important to be comfortable with your photographer.

I don't know ho your photog is but I will say I LOVE Randy. We are getting so much from him down to close to 200 e-photos and a high res cd of them! pixie dust to help you make the right choice.

Thanks! I think Randy is the best choice, finacially it would be around the same price to switch to Randy and lose the depsit then to stick with mine current photographer and add the extra hour and the CD. Once you add on the additional prints our photographer would be even more. I think Randy is the best choice and its my gut feeling that I should have went with him. Now to convince my DF because all he sees is that we would be losing $1750!

That is a tough one! I would forget about the money part of the decision and go with who you think is the best photographer. You really only get one shot at having your wedding photos taken and they will last forever. In 20 years, you want to be able to look at your wedding pictures and think of how beautiful they are. I doubt in 20 years you'll be thinking "I wish we didn't waste that extra $1750 on these photos!" That's JMHO. Good luck

If you need reassurance with Randy-- im the one that can give it to you. I Randy!! You will definately not go wrong with him I can promise you.

Thanks Maggimus. I was just looking at your pictures on randy's site. Great pictures. I think I am going to switch and take my loses. It actually ends up being $175 more than what I would have spent with the other photographer. That is not bad right? I need reassurance because my DF is about to put me in the looney bin! Pictures are one of the most important things at a wedding because you have them forever.

Between this issue, my heel of my shoe that broke off last night during my fitting , family woes and looking for a new job the stress is starting to get to me! It was going so smoothly until now. But in a few weeks it all won't matter, that is what I keep telling myself.

Malibelle-- I think you are making the right decision-- there are such good perks to having Randy as your photographer along with a great experience. $175 dollars is not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things. I really think you will be pleased. Knowing what I know about Randy and my personal experience-- I think you are doing the right thing. I left Walt Disney World with the sense of knowing that my photos would be perfect (even though DH and I might not look our best in them!).

I am Randys biggest fan here on the boards... I talk him up like nobodies business... but the good thing is that I can back his work up--- just look at his photos on his site-- his work speaks for itself.

Seems like every "Randy" thread I am always trying to coerce the people into booking him.... I really hope that you feel comfortable with your decision though. Only YOU can make it and be happy with it.

I've said this before--- but Randy could take the most beautiful photographs of pigs playing in a pig pen... seriously. He can make anything beautiful!

If you choose Randy this is what you can look forward to... Ive never seen a bride & grooms photos turn out any less than mine-- everyones are always amazing.

Im absolutely not bragging about the way DH and I look in these photos (if you read my TR you will see I wasnt exactly pleased with my looks)-- but what I am proud of is the quality of the photography that I chose. This is why I really push other brides to make the same decision I did-- i want to see everyone else happy like I am.

Randy knows I him and his work. I seriously wouldnt feel right being on this board and not speaking about his tallent, ya know? It would be like me knowing a secret and letting these brides continue making bad choices in photography.

Now I will have the copyrights and get pics at wally world for less than a $1.00 instead of $70.00 for a print from disney. Plus i am a crazy picture person, i have photography everywhere in my house! Hey some people it is longaberger.....some it is sculptures......i am a picture person, and i knew I would want a ton of pics in different sizes. So going with Disney probably would have ended me up in Bankruptcy Court!

My DH wasnt thrilled about paying additional for an outside vendor when we had already payed for Disney photography in the package. This was the one decision I put my foot down on. He is glad I did. He still talks about Randy... and our pictures are visable everyday throughout the house (Hey tink-- we might have twin houses!!)

Maggie - I am right there with you. Randy was THE greatest photographer I have ever met and he made us look amazing!! We have over 1000 photos from him and the money was worth it!!! Not only did we LOVE our engagment pics, we loved our wedding pics and then we saw him for Kim and Kelly's wedding 3 days later and loved him just as much then!!! Randy truly is a talented photographer and you just can't go wrong with him!!!! Good luck with your choice Malibelle. Keep us posted!!

I say always go with your gut. You will just be more upset later on if you are not happy with your pictures/photographer because you were already doubting them. Financially I think it works out better too because you get the CD from Randy.

I have seen your pics many times before, but I had a pretty bad day at work, and seeing your pictures really put me in a good mood You look so beautiful and Randy really is sooooo amazing! I love how the color of your bouquet stands out... I am a little biased though, my bouquet will be bright orange and peach.

Yay!! I thought I was the only one going with the orange (beginning to think it was ugly in everyones eyes or something).. It was fitting for our time of year-- just between halloween and thanskgiving.

I hope your day starts looking up. Ive been feeling a little sick to my stomach today-- i think its the pizza we ate last night....
