I just discovered this board yesterday evening and have decided that today I shall spend my day in bed resting (as I have the flu) and reading lots and lots of posts. I have been dreaming of a Disney wedding but until I discovered so many others just like me it sort of didn't seem real. I look forward to sharing ideas with you and using this valuable board as a wedding planning tool.

My hubby-to-be, James, will be finishing law school next spring and we have a wedding date set for March 15, 2008 (slightly flexible on that). We have spoken to DFTW on the phone and are just getting started with the planning process. We are going for the custom at the WP (do I have a chance?) or Epcot Germany. I was thinking of a reception at the Boardwalk Resort and a dessert party to view the fireworks. My rough guest list count is surprisingly as high as 30 right now despite the fact that we all live in the northeast. I have so many others to invite so the count could get up to 50 or so (I was hopping for 20 . . . guess everybody loves Disney).

My first trip to Disney World was nearly ten years ago just after I graduated High School. We stayed off-site for an "Orlando" vacation but Disney was definately the highlight. In 2004 my sister and I (not being typical spring breakers) opted for a weeklong Disney vacation. It was the BEST! We took hundreds of photos (all 35 mm film, too hehehe) and got nearly 40 character autographs. We enjoyed the Magic Kingdom so much that it wasn't really a Disney World vacation so much as it was a Magic Kingdom vacation. I saw a wedding taking place the day we left Disney and the idea stuck into my mind ever since. I met James 5 months later and here I am . . . ready to be married in Disney World. They really do make wishes happen.

(I don't usually talk this much . . . must be the meds).

:)

GLAD TO MEET YOU ALL!

Jenny :)

Jenny-- WELCOME!! I can't wait to hear all about your planning and see what kind of ideas you bring to the table. This is a great source of help (help of all kinds, with the in-laws, to what flowers you should choose). We talk about everything and are a real close community. Dont be shy here-- we like to talk!!

Congratulations on your engagement and upcoming wedding!!

BTW- In my planning stages I stumbled upon this board in a google search. Many of us find ourselves here by chance... but I promise once you get sucked in... your wedding will be long gone before you can manage to break away!

Hi Jenny
Congratulations on your engagement.. You are going to love the boards we chat about everything and anything... Keep us posted on your planning process we would love to hear all the details...

Happy Planning:goodvibes

Thanks so much for the kind welcome and great ideas and advice I have been reading. I've spent $100.00+ on wedding books, magazines, and planners and this if FREE (a bride's fave word). My mom and I spent hours together on the phone and our computers as I first introduced her to my DFTW. If it's possible she is just as excited as I am. Hopefully I'll be introducing her to these boards as I get moving with the planning. :)

Great meeting all of you!

Jenny

sounds great!! I loved buying those wedding magazines!! lol, most likely though, you will be spending some more money even with these boards!! They are just too much fun to look at :) Good luck with the planning!

Well when DF came home last night I made a lovely DFTW presentation with some of the information I had gathered yesterday. This place is great!

Jenny,
Welcome! I am going to be a 2008 bride as well! Happy planning. The ladies (and gentlemen) on this board have been a HUGE part of my planning process. I can't wait to hear all about your planning process!

Welcome & Congratulations.
This is just the best place to plan your dream wedding. Everybody is so friendly on here too.
Our Disney wedding was almost 12 months ago and I still love to pop in just to remind me how wonderful it all was.
Good luck and happy planning.

Welcome to the family!! :grouphug:

Trust me when I say I would not have made it through these first few months of my planning (and the next 5 to come) wihtout these girls (and some guys!!) We've really formed this huge bond because no one else knows what we are going through. The information and advice you will find on here is priceless because everyone on here has either been through what you're going through or is currently going through it. No matter how 'random' you might think a situation is, someone knows and can help! Don't ever be afraid to ask anything! That's what we're here for :goodvibes

Nice to meet you too Jenny! I am new to this as well and what I have read so far has been a great help to me!

Yes we do live just outside of Baltimore right on the waterfront. We have lived here for two years now and will find a house after he finishes law school. I see you are Slippery Rock Alumni. I am originally from the Pittsburgh area where my family still resides.

It's a small world after all. :)

Wow! It IS a small world. I grew up outside of Pittsburgh (where my family also still resides) and then moved to Baltimore with DF after we graduated from SRU. How funny! :thumbsup2
