Or should I say....Princess Pixie Magical Wishes (thanks to the Year of a Million Dreams Celebration at WDW this year!)!! :rotfl2: Since we are going to WDW for our Honeymoon, I thought it would be neat to name her after something that would always remind us of when we got married!!

Her name is Pixie b/c I wanted to name her a Disney name...Ariel, Belle, Minnie, Tink, etc.........but Jason just kinda came up with Pixie. I thought "Yeah Pixie! Because...All you need is faith, trust, and a little bit of Pixie dust!"!!!!

Pixie is the newest member of our family! She is a Yorkie. She is 6 weeks old and is only 1 1/2 pounds. She is the most adorable thing I've ever seen!!

I've been saying that I've wanted a GIRL Yorkie for a while now but I just did not want to pay $1,000 for a dog!! So we FINALLY found one in Texas for a really good price (AND she was cute!). Jason drove 3 1/2 hours yesterday while I was at work to pick her up. He did it as a surprise to me. He kept telling me all day that he was "Playing X-Box" or whatever....he sounded suspicious on the phone but I wasn't totally sure of what he was doing!!!

When I got home, he told me that I had a "Package from Disney that arrived today". I KNEW that I had not ordered anything from Disney lately, so I was like, "HUH"?? I went to open the box and inside was PIXIE!!! :)

She is SO TINY!!

I brought her over to my mom and dad's....

She was trying to run around on the floor and smell everything! It was funny!! :)

When I got to my mom and dad's house, my dad said, "Look Sue, our first grandchild!"

My momma with her... I just cannot get over how tiny she is!! :)

She woke me up at 3:00 a.m. from crying. I took her outside and then put her back to sleep. I would love to have her in bed with me but first off, I don't want her to pee in my bed :rotfl: and second off, I don't want to squish her!! I'm scared she'll get underneath me or something and she's so tiny!! Jason doesn't want her to get in the habbit of sleeping in the bed with me anyway! Haha!

So anyway, I just wanted to share because I am excited!!! :goodvibes

Oh, how absolutely adorable:goodvibes I love dogs, especially when they are puppies! She is the cutest thing ever, so tiny. Congratulations on the new member of your family, I expect GR (growth reports)...can we get that on here?

How exciting! Pixie is soooo precious! She is way too cute, and I love her name! That was so sweet of your DF to surprise you! I LOVE dogs (as you can tell from my signature ;) ). Don't worry, before you know it those 3 am cries will be over and she'll be house broken soon too! I so miss having a puppy, but my guy is almost 5 and he does not want any siblings, so it will be awhile... Good luck w/ her :)

Aww!! I remember the days of bringing home our first true love. But one turned into two when we went to pick them out...

If I could recommend one thing... it would be to crate train. It was the single best investment we ever made. They really learned that when they left their crate-- they went outside to the bathroom. Before they got back in the crate, they used the bathroom-- everything in the middle was smooth sailing. We had two-- so it was double time with potty training. Once one dog had an accident, the other would watch and mimick...

Good Luck with everything.

Id love to share my joy with you Kmab00-- here are a couple photos from our babies first day home (Jethro & Ellie May)

And then before you know it... they are all grown up

My best wishes to you and your new family.... You will baby that puppy more than you know (I had my 2 on feeding schedules, napping schedules, was dead set against anyone feeding them any scraps what-so-ever, touching them with dirty hands... they truely were my babies!!)... Now-- they are 14 & 16 lbs...

*dies* I want one!!! She is adorable!! Great job finding a Yorkie at a good price. I know how expensive they are! (SO's uncle and his wife have three of them!)

I'd just want to cuddle her forever! I'd never go into work :;)

Maggie, your babies are super-precious too :cutie:

Thanks JJClemson. Its amazing how fast they grow up.

Kmab00--- you take photos of that baby everyday... you will look back in disbelief of how much and how FAST they grow.

My Jethro & Ellie May (miniature Daschunds) turned a year old in September.. soon they will be 1.5 years old-- We video taped them a lot as puppies and literally watch the tapes about once every 3 months... and on holidays. We love them so much-- you will be this close to yours as well!!

ITA! Our guy was only 3 lbs. when we got him. He fit in DF's palm and now the big lug weighs 55 lbs. He was only 4 weeks old when we rescued him, he was taken away from his mommy way too young :sad1: We took pictures the first 2 days, and then did not take any more for about 3 weeks. Well his size, more than doubled! Definitely take tons of pics of her as a baby :)

Oh i love the pics....I always wished i had time for a dog...I can barely take care of my cat....

Congrats on your new addition
and love the name

That poor baby was taken away from its mommy too young? Aww... I hate that.

We know a lot of people who mistreat their animals(black labs-- used to be showdogs)... and if they werent directly connected to DH's family-- i would turn them into animal control in a heartbeat. Everytime they go out of town I contemplate turning them in... but realizing the hurt it would cause the family-- decide not to. We take big 50lb bags of dog food and let them eat it till its gone... DH is real sensitive about the subject too. Animals are just like children... I cant bare to see someone mistreat them.

JJClemson I can tell your baby might not have been the healthiest in the beginning... but now at 55lbs.. I can honestly say I dont think you starve yours. Ours are mini's and are 16 lbs... lol but 16 lbs of pure muscle!! Im sure your baby is the same.

Just recently I posted on how we had to take ours to the vet for their yearlys... and they told us we had to take away Jethro's frisbee (better known as "Fwibbie"). He is very emotionally attached to it and cannot function without it-- wont eat unless its by his side, constantly burrying it, uncovering it-- in the summer he puts it in the pool, waits till it floats halfway around.. and then swims to it (hes learned to make-do when we wont throw it for him). We did what the doc said and took "Fwibbie" away-- and he and Ellie may play a lot better now. Its amazing what they get into.

kmab00...

Welcome to furkid mommyhood!!:rotfl:

Your new little addition is ADORABLE!!!

And I envy you being able to smell puppy breath!:rotfl:

My three "little" monsters keep DH and I busy...

Good luck with your new little family and may you have many many happy moments together!!

Maggie- I am so glad that Jethro is getting along better w/ Ellie now that he doesn't have his frisbee. I know you were really worried about them

We adopted Nati from a shelter. He and his brother were just dropped off one morning w/ a note that said their birthdate and explained that the owner could not handle the puppies :sad1: When DF and I saw him, we knew we had to have him. He was so small and looked so unhealthy b/c he was taken away too young. Our friend adopted his brother and he actually ended up dying a few weeks later :sad2: Luckily, Nati is fine now! He still has some abandonment issues and hates being taken to the kennel!

You would never guess he had such a hard beginning though. DF and I make sure he gets 30 minutes of exercise each day. We run with him, swim with him, play frisbee. He is super-spoiled now! I used to work as a dog walker, and it really is a shame how people don't take care of their pets. They ignore them, mistreat them, it's so upsetting!

We should all be proud of ourselves for giving our dogs such loving homes :)

PUPPIES!

I LOVE PUPPIES!

Oh Pixie is so adorable...and Maggie your little furbabies are so adorable too!

OH...now I want a puppy.

I'll just have to go home to my parents' and visit Logan

Now...DH and I don't have room in our apartment for a giant schnauzer. But ohhhhhh....yorkies are so precious.

Btw...that was SUCH a SWEET thing for you DH to do...to surprise you like that :cloud9:

:goodvibes

Kmab00- ist so cute! good luck with little Pixie. Love the name.princess:

Thank you so much everyone for your wonderful comments!! She sure is a littel rotten ol thing! :) I AM a picture taker so I will for sure be taking LOTS of pictures!!!

Maggimus, your idea of crate training is awesome!! Thank you! :) And your dogs are so cute!!!!

ForKeeps, I had no idea that there were giant schnauzer's out there! Your dog is gorgeous!!! Sorry you can't keep him in your apartment!!

Summer-Caitlin, a growth report is a cute idea! :)

JJClemson, I'm glad those 3 am cries will be over with soon! We just went and took a "nap" and she slept right on my pillow the entire time!!! Maybe those "naps" aren't such a good idea, though! Keep her up all night!!!

wendy46001, Thank you! I used to have cats, too!!

hiwaygal, furhood.... that's cute!! And I love puppy breath! Awww!! :)

How adorable... You must be having so much fun with her.. My Bichon is named Dixie... And she is so much fun to be with..

naps... we napped every couple of hours. Its what kept my dogs going.... they would play for for 30 minutes and literally start fighting and getting restless.... i would nap them frequently. It helped them sleep through the night in the crate. They do say, however, more than 8 hours in a crate is cruel for a dog (they cannot hold their pee that long). DH and I put them to bed when we go to bed... and they get up before we even shower. It works out well.

I love the pictures of everyone's puppies!! I am a dog lover for sure. So i have to share pics of mine (if i can figure out how to post pics correctly). Charley is an australian shepherd mix. He just turned 2, but we got him at the animal shelter when he was 6 months...his first owners said he was too hyper :hyper: It's their loss, because he is the cutest thing ever!

charley.jpg

this wasn't his actual b-day, but he wore the hat very well!

charleyandjerm2.jpg

and this is charley with DF...a "father and son" moment!

One final bit of advice that I want to give you-- no one told me this but luckily everything fell into place...

BATHE YOUR DOG A LOT WHILE ITS A PUPPY!!

very important. If you can get them used to bathing now-- its a sinch as they get older. Many adult dogs hate water... and hate bathing. My dogs now know the word "bath" and when we are running water in the spare bathroom (their bathtub)... they always know its for them... I normally cant keep Jethro from jumping into the tub water before the water is finished filling (also remember that dogs internal temp is much different than ours-- so no luke warm water for your dog-- they like it warmer than that!).
