Question about Randy Chapman suggestion?

As you all know I have booked Randy for my photography. He is due to come at 09.30am approx for our 10.00am wedding at SBP, then high tail it over to The GF for after ceremony pics. I recently sent him an email asking about having pictures taken during fireworks outside of the parks.
He advised me that we could get some pics on The GF beach during Wishes as he has shot that before and can get some wonderful pics. He thinks Wishes is at 20.00, but as far as I can see it's at 22.00.
Can anyone tell me whether I would be able to get good pictures of my DF and I during these fireworks. I really, really wanted to get some pics during Illuminations/Wishes but as i am having an Intimate cannot have an Illuminations party so cannot be in the parks in my wedding dress.
Is the GF not a bit far to get good pics of the fireworks? He has said it would cost $200 to block off that night so am really wanting advice as to whether I should go for this or maybe just go with the speciality cruise in my wedding dress?:confused3
I need advice please:flower3:

I cant see that you would be able to get any closer for firework pictures than the GF.

MGM isnt an option as there are no resorts close enough.
Epcot - not really an option as any view from the YC/BC or BWI would be obstructed with trees and you will only get the higher up fireworks.

That only leaves Magic Kingdom - the GF is the closest you would be able to get - unless its an option to do a firework cruise?!

I originally planned to do a firework cruise but Tanis couldn't tell me whether I would be allowed to wear my dress on the boat. Also I'm looking to get some pics during the fireworks but my mum would be wanting to watch them instead of taking pics of us. Hmmm, maybe I should just leave it....

What a great idea, hope someone can help answer your Q's.
I've heard of brides wearing their dress on the fireworks cruises, but not seen any photo's taken during the fireworks I'm afraid.

We have visited and stayed at the GF several times and it does have a good view of MK and Wishes from the beach.

As to the timing, you probably are looking at the posted calendars for right now, not the summer. I would say that Randy is probably correct and Wishes will be at 10pm the day of your wedding. It doesn't get dark til about 9pm in Florida during August.

ETA: I just checked the WDW official calendar, and yes, Wishes is slated for 10pm on Aug 17th.

It was actually Randy that thought it was at 20.00 and from what I could gather I thought it was 22.00. The problem with this is, is it not too late for Randy to be out taking pics, I mean it would be after 23.00 before he finished and it seems unfair to him.

:thumbsup2 There have been many recent brides to have had cruises in their wedding dress (look at ForKeep's TR).

GL!!

I wouldn't worry too much about the late hour. If he doens't want ot stay out that late, he'll let you know before you book. We just contracted Randy for our wedding next year. :yay: Due to the location we are hoping for, the ceremony doesn't start til 7:30pm and the reception will be ending at 1am! We thought that was late too, but he said no problem. :goodvibes

I did a Wishes Cruise on the Grand 1 and Randy took pictures and I was definitely in my dress. As with all things Disney they are subject to change their rules but that's how it was when I got married in 05.

Here are a couple of my pictures. :)

If you eat/snack at the California Grill at Contemporary Resort, you have access to their observation deck and I think you can even step right onto the roof. I don't know how good the fireworks look from Contemporary. It was an option I was exploring, but we've decided to pursue the cruise idea instead. I'm still about 100 days away from my wedding date, so I can't reserve any boats yet. If I can't get a couple of pontoon boats, then it's back to finding another way to view the fireworks.

S-C,

It shouldn't be a problem to get on the boat in your dress. I did :thumbsup2

We didn't talk to the WC about our cruise. I just booked directly through the rec department. We got some really nice shots on the bow of the grand 1 with the fireworks. I received more pictures from my MIL and SIL that I didn't have at the time of the TR that I'll post for you to check out when I get home (I'm at school now)

I don't know if they would allow you to do that, although what the CG doesn't know can't hurt them;)

Fireworks from the Observation deck are absolutely beautiful, and I think almost more breathtaking than in the park. That's a great idea!pixiedust:
