Ok, so here's my new thread: EXCLUDING the WP, which location is everyone's favorite and why? Your options are Sunset Pointe a the Poly, the Wedding Gazebo at the Yacht Club, the Boardwalk's Sea Breeze Point, and the last one is the Sunrise Terrace over at the Wilderness Lodge. I'm just curious what everyone's thoughts are! :thumbsup2

I think they are all beautiful! I was kinda forced into SBP because of the number of guests. If you are having over 10 guests, then Sunrise Terrace and Sunset Point are out.

As far as my understanding, SBP is the next most popular location besides WP. But like I said, you really can't go wrong! They are all beautiful! :flower3:

Loved the yacht club gazebo & loved the fact that I could walk over to the boardwalk & epcot entrance & we had so many people coming up to us...we felt like stars!!!!
Plus we could have taken a boat into epcots lagoon and watched fireworks from our boat, but we got there just a bit to late before them block it off...BUMMER

But in all honesty....Im sure ANY location is just as magical & beautiful

Good luck:flower3:

Like TinkBride, I too was kinda forced into Sea Breeze Point. I originally wanted Sunset Pointe but because we are getting married in August, it wasn't allowed:sad2: However I am now glad that we have SBP, as it is a beautiful location, shaded so kinda private. As everyone says though, all the locations are beautiful, but I think SBP is held in a lot of peoples hearts:love:

Why wasn't it allowed in August? Just out of curiousity. I haven't heard of any places not booking due to time of year. :confused3

It's not allowed due because of the weather (extreme heat), I can't remember where I saw it now, I just looked on the wishbook and I can't see it there, hmmm! I think it's from July to October or something like that, oh please someone post the correct dates, it's gonna really annoy me now...

Just butting in here ...

Now that the board names are no longer on the "New Posts" results, I never quite know what board a thread is posted on until I click on it.

A wedding was not quite what I expected from a title like "Which Intimate Location is Your Favorite?". Never mind what I was thinking !

To keep OT, I think the weddings that I have seen near the Boardwalk have all been very lovely.

I chose WL Sunrise Terrace - obviously :rotfl: Originally I thought Sea Breeze Point, but once we saw Sunrise Terrace we knew that had to be it! It was gorgeous!! We only had 8 guests so size wasn't an issue for us. SBP was our second choice if I couldn't get the Terrace.

I'm pretty sure the actual dates are May-October, and yes the primary reason was the heat. My understanding is there isn't much in the way of shade up on that little hill!;)

I voted for Sea Breeze Point (where I was married...;) )

To be honest, I don't consider there is much difference between SBP and YCG. They are both close to (if not on) the Boardwalk. Both within walking distance of several resorts and ammenities, and both offer a quaint "gazebo" for a beautiful wedding ceremony.

I think the real difference comes down to size. SBP is bigger so allows guests to be seated inside the structure itself (offers protection from the weather). YCG is smaller so your guests may very likely need to be seated outside without any protection from the weather.

I guess there is a bit of a difference in "ambiance/flavor"...with the YCG beting a little more "fairy tale-ish", but they are both lovely.

I picked Sunset Pointe! That is where we are getting married. I loved it the first time I ever saw a picture of it. There are only going to be three of us there, so it will be perfect!

I love Sunset Pointe. You can only get married there from October to March. This is why my fiance and I changed my wedding from June to February.

Thanks for clarifying those available dates at Sunset Pointe! I knew October and I knew the other one was an "M" month;)

Ok, I know that I'm beating this to death, but does anyone have any neat photos of the different locations? For those of you that don't already know this, I'm having to keep all of this a secret from my DW because I'm doing a VR for our anniversary and I want to surprise her with everything. BUT I have plenty of time to show her various pictures without rising her suspicions. So if anyone has some interesting photos they could share, they would be INCREDIBLY appreciated!!! :goodvibes You people are the BEST!!!!!!! :grouphug:

Here are some SBP photos.... Some are taken as you go further away from it. Where you begin walking is taken from the photo I have the furthest away (it actually starts from inside but this photo shows the distance)

I stayed in a Lagoon View room at the Polynesian late last July. I watched a beautiful bride and her bridal party walk out to Sunset Pointe for her wedding ceremony. From my room’s balcony, I could hear the violinist play. It sounded wonderful.

After the ceremony, I watched the bridal party take photos on the beach in front of my room (I was staying in the concierge building but I don't recall the name of that building, sorry). There was a hammock located there, too, and I watched them take photos in and around it. Everyone appeared to be having a wonderful time. It was fun for me to watch since I'd had a custom vow renewal almost two years prior (mine was held inside the Wedding Pavilion).

I am toying with the idea of having a Sunset Pointe ceremony this year. I think it would be a lovely location to renew my vows. I have seen photos of ceremonies at that location, though, where the wind was quite brisk. The poor brides had their veils flying all over the place. But I wouldn't be wearing a veil so that wouldn't bother me, and since my hair is short, I don't think that would pose a problem, either. However, it is definitely something that I am seriously going to think about if my husband and I decide to go through with a vow renewal this year.

Thanks, hiwaygal. I haven't been on the Dis much at all over the past 12 or 13 months, ~gulp,~ but I am toying with the idea of having an intimate vow renewal this year and this thread was right up my alley. I haven't really looked into the new packages yet so I'm not sure how different the rules are between two years ago and this year. It will be interesting to find out.

I almost had a VR last summer but my husband couldn't get the time off from work so I hosted a private party at the Grand Floridian's marina instead during my daughter and my extended vacation. I will share info about that event at one point here on the Wedding board because I adore the Grand Floridian and think it's a lovely venue for someone who wants to do something a little more intimate than a theme park dessert party. By the way, here's a slide show of that event: click here. And here's a link to photos of it: click here.

Boy, now that I’m on the subject of my favorite resort, maybe I should look into having an intimate vow renewal there? ;)

wow! just...wow!!! That was an amazing party! LOVED the little cakes!

I haven't kept up much with the packages either...they change so much. We'd like to do a VR some day, but at this point, I'd just be happy to get back to the world!

Thanks for sharing those pics...they were wonderful! And good luck with planning that VR at the GF!;)

Hiwaygal, thanks for the kind words. The little cakes (click here) were something that my Event Manager suprised me with. I had asked for a fun Disney touch to help make my guests feel like they were in the most magical place on earth. Those cakes certainly did the trick (as did the rest of the scrumptious food). Again, I just adore the Grand Floridian Resort. They've never been anything but kind and professional in their dealings with me. I am blessed.

Getting back to the topic at hand, I'm glad RBennett posted this thread. I spent almost six weeks in WDW last summer. Since I like to sleep around ;) , I hopped between several resorts (and can finally say that I have stayed in ALL of Disney's official resorts in both WDW and Disneyland, ~phew!~). During my BoardWalk Villas stay, I saw Cinderella's Carriage pick up a bride in front of the resort (the Crescent Lake side) and transport her all the way to the Beach Club. I was wondering if she was going to have her ceremony at Sea Breeze Point, but since the carriage stopped at the Beach Club, I assume that she had her ceremony indoors, perhaps at Ariel's?? Anyway, it was so much fun for my daughter and I to finally see the carriage in person on the boardwalk. I had only seen photos/videos of it in that location before. The bride certainly looked like she was enjoying the ride of her life.

I am not the Cinderella type (boy, how I wish I were!), so I probably will never rent the carriage. However, it definitely looks like a fun mode of transportation. RBennett, perhaps you would consider surprising your wife with it for your VR? Is she the Cinderella type? Even if she's not, just think of the priceless look upon her face when she realizes you rented it for her.

A couple of years ago a fellow Dis'er (as in MALE) did the exact same thing for his wife. He planned a custom vow renewal on the sly. If memory serves me correctly, they had their ceremony inside the Wedding Pavilion and I think he surprised her with Cinderella's Carriage, too. I think their dinner party was held inside the American Adventure VIP Room. I thought what he did for his wife was just about the most romantic thing that I had ever heard of. And now it sounds like you're equally as romantic, ~sigh.~ Your wife is one lucky gal.
